  • Great video and great tune, looking forward to having you guys hide my shitty drywall job ;-)

  • It is amazing how little useful info they packed into a five-minute video! This is mostly a commercial with very bad audio.

  • @MySetDancer1

    God Bless You :)

  • why? it's pretty fair at least it shows the whole process.. unlike other videos online..

  • this makes me sad :C

  • @Matasawagon

Share this and make someone smile!

  • @EncoreServices j/k... awesome job... its hard work!

  • @Matasawagon

    Me Too...Thx

  • @bargainbin21

    thanks for subbing!

  • That some serious technique!! It's fun watching a professional. I have a small bathroom repair job in my home I will be doing this work myself and I think it's going to be fun trying to get it to look professional. Great video. Thanks.

  • @sammythefaxman

    thank you, happy new year

  • Excellent video, I am doing a kitchen, should look good.

  • @mumbletonguer

    thanks for watching :)

  • What size nozzle do you use with the 22psi? I was experimenting before I make my first attempt last night and had ok results with a 6mm nozzle but around 15psi. Thanks!

  • @PhilipHaddock

I use a Kraft texture gun wide open ( largest setting )

  • How long should texture dry before knockin it down. or do you just start as soon as you are done spraying?

  • @aclark50

If your just doing one room give it 20 minutes to set up. Good Luck :)

  • Great work. Very skilled.

  • @32937isready

    Thanks Man !!!

  • Missing the bar at 7

  • @birdstuckinchimney

    Been Barred :(

  • Good job. I've done a little of it before but you make it look so easy which is not. Just removed 1.500sf of popcorn next would be either smooth or texture ceiling. In any case would be slow going, wish I had your skills!

  • @kimchee94112

Whats recommended these days is to use a sealer after you have scrapped off all the popcorn because of UV damage. Skim the area with drywall compound twice and then prime and spray or it may turn yellow.

  • Dude you are one awesome Drywall guy. Those fluid moves only come after many hrs of work! keep it up my friend.

  • @monalisa51358

You are to kind, thx :)

  • a joy to watch bravo

  • @likeria13

    Thx :)

  • this a stupid video. Music great, instruction missing.

  • @kol12345100

    Its a visual story :)

  • Neck feels fine. 25 years :)

  • hows your neck feel after rolling ceilings all day? mine is shot from 30 yrs in the painting biz...

  • 8 bar to be missed?

  • @zvezdnyi2000

    I don't know what that means :(

  • What power is required compressor?

  • @zvezdnyi2000

    Electric

  • We're removing popcorn texture in a bedroom today. I'd love to try doing this but wonder if I'll find it's quite difficult for an amateur to get a good result. If I were to make a poor job of it, would it be difficult for a drywall man to correct it? Do you need to sand the surface after it dries or is it finished at the end of the video? thanks so much!

  • @NLM1956

As long as you have the right equipment, you should do fine. ?-1 If you screw up it will have to be redone. ?-2 After you have knocked it down, your done. Have fun and good luck :)

  • why do you prime 1st for knock down? i lived i Cali and we just sprayed texture over finish tape walls and ceilings, its a lot easier to knock down because it dries from the inside out and sets up faster.

  • @TheDrywallogist

We use a tinted primer for depth. In Canada we don't spray the walls.

  • That was pretty cool. Never knew how it was done. He made it look fun and I want to do it, lol. Good job!

  • @alisaflowers

It's been pretty cool so far. Thanks for commenting :)

  • Just had a bath over the tub ceiling removed and replaced. The bath above had leaked a couple years ago. I kept getting mold growing on the ceiling, as real estate broker and having to take my 45 hours exam, in the study materials was a full explanation of mold. Called our HOA and they came out and removed the sheetrock. The mold was in the sheetrock feeding on both sides. The timbers had been soaked and were active with mold. Cost was high but fixed and no more mold. Used purple sheetrock.

  • @NakedSuit

Purple drywall for mold, green drywall for moister and gray drywall for water.

  • It was like my life flashing in front of my eyes...good process, bad tutorial. It was like a music video...I was waiting to see the baby in the crib with the ceiling painted blue.

  • @isaacbiermann

    Nice Torpedo :)

  • hi its good video when i knock it down texture then makes a lines wts prob..plz let me knw ...thax

  • @banshahkoti13

Possibly the knife you used has a slight crown on it and when you used it to knockdown the ceiling the crown is facing the floor instead of the ceiling. Hope this helps

  • Thanks for posting! The guy in the vid is so graceful and really knows what he's doing.

  • @Najim1999

Dave's the best. Thanks for commenting :)

  • Well-done video clip, except it would have benefited from overdubbed commentary on what the demonstrator was doing, instead of the music track.

  • @upajos

Think of it as a visual story :)

  • This was a very helpful video, but the song makes me want to cry its so depressing.

  • @Th3KrazyK1d

    I almost cried too!

  • Cool, nice way to do it and CLEAN!. I am such a mess when I texture. Priming first too great idea.Where I live we have crappy acoustical popcorn ceiling. Warning to those people contemplating that. DON'T DO IT. Looks terrible after a few years and should not be painted it wont come off.

I like knock down texture and love seeing new construction. Thanks for posting this, I always thought this involved expensive equipment.

  • @NakedSuit

    Thx for your comments.

  • @NakedSuit crappy acoustical ceilings can be skimmed over a couple of times and sanded out smooth. Then you could apply any texture.

  • did somebody die in this video? thats what the song makes it feel like

  • @mongo0606

All these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

  • man!!! he fucking california'd that ceiling like a fuckin pimp!!!! he looked like the ceiling master when he was doin that!

  • @diedeaddone

    I think he's on steroids.

  • Thats a nice OSHA approved ladder you got there

  • @atheist1082

Why use something old-fashioned like a ladder when you can use a kid tested OSHA approved bucket ^_^

  • @DavisCampbell

I have the same reaction but to the compound and so I where Nitrile gloves most of the time.

    Cheers :)

  • I ended up scraping off all the unpainted knockdown texture and reapplying.

I set the compressor for 23 psi and worked great.

Thanks for the video and your information.

  • @jasoninkw16

Thank you for the comments Jason

    Take care :)

  • What do you apply on the walls ?

Do you Prime or Paint the Texture on the ceiling ?

    Just Wondering? Nice Vid.

  • @TomSawyerPainting

What do you apply on the walls ?

    Paint :)

Do you Prime or Paint the Texture on the ceiling ?

We don't prime or paint the texture after its been sprayed.

We only prime before spray with a tinted primer for depth.

    Best Regards :)

  • @EncoreServices We apply the exact same Texture on the walls, and then of course Paint. Yes, we Prime the the texture on the ceiling because the color on the ceiling has to go with the walls and trim. and as I am sure you are aware there are over 50 shades of white.

So do yall just leave the walls up north untextured like that?

  • @TomSawyerPainting I have never seen a textured wall in Canada. I'm sure there are some, but it's not typical in Western Canada anyway. I've gathered from TV that it is fairly common in the US?

  • @gfsugar2plus Wow thats kinda interesting, for me anyway because there is only one untextured house that I can think of that i have painted with out any texture on the walls. But I guess thats how we do it here in Texas . Thank you for sharing that fact with me. Take Care.

  • how long do u wait to knock it down?

  • @naldode

A good guideline to follow would be 20 minutes but that also depends on the humidity and how much water you add to your compound.

    Cheers :)

  • Thanks alot im gona give it a try today

  • Nice... I've been looking all over for this technique. Thanks much. What kind of paint roll should be used when rolling on the compound?

    And nice song.

  • @fxshark1972

You can not roll it on. You must use a stucco spray machine.

    Best Regards :)

  • Thanks for the reply!

I was wondering is it possible to blend california ceilings?

I have a 4 x 8 patch job to do and I need to either patch the texture or scrap off the entire main floor and reapply the california texture again.

    Thanks,

  • @jasoninkw16

Skim the entire main floor and then spray.

    Cheers

  • What psi do you run to the gun?

  • @jasoninkw16

    Around 22 psi

    Hope all is well :)

  • I do 2-3 houses in a day :P in hamilton....without priming that is

btw. why don't you staple the poly instead of taping it? it's much faster

  • @Okrutni

It's just the way the builders in Waterloo Region want it done.

    Cheers :)

  • nice work! i do 2-3 houses a week on top of taping in kingston ont

  • @mongo0606

Never been to Kingston, also known as the Limestone City.

    May visit some day.

    Cheers :)
