  • 23:40 The gloves and the gauntlets give different stats. The gloves are if you want crit damage, the gauntlets improve your ability to block.

  • I've read two of Salvatore's books and found the be profoundly mediocre.

  • @Harabeck If you want a decent read on a plane or a car trip his stuff's not bad. Its just derivative and isn't likely to challenge the reader.

  • @wtftastic Sure, I can agree with that. The books I read were good enough for me to finish once I started, but not good enough that I sought to buy more after I had finished them.

  • i sense some da2 in this

  • Oh Jim Cummings, why are you a voice actor in this game? This is the man who was Darkwing Duck, Shredder, and, apparently, annoying NPC number 2.

  • Reminds me of the good old fable1. Lets try something... thumbs up, if you want SGF to play this game.

  • This really reminds me of Fable.

  • @Darsular yeh the combat def reminds me of fable 1

  • 9:33 Oh no, the Hall of Death! The only way out is death!

  • This looks pretty good, to me. Dunno why people are ripping on it in the comments.

  • The more I watch this video, the more I am reminded of White Wolf's setting for their Changeling game, as well as their Exalted game. Not saying the developers stole this or whatnot, it just makes me think of it. At any rate, this looks pretty good.

  • played it... reminds me of fable 1 somehow :p

  • "Demo's probably about to end anyway" *hasn't even hit 45 minute timer yet*

    LoL

  • Lol..I love how boxes in this game are to you like dumpsters in Deadly Premonition. Sgf sexy voice at 41:41

  • I kind of like the combat. Being a Sorcery/Might build is going to be a blast, as I always love an excuse to mix magic and swordplay. Loving that staff too, makes for a good weapon when my mana's recharging.

  • 12:44 Princess Bride FTW :-)

  • I think over three minutes before game play on a demo is a mistake.

  • @Scix Well, three minutes before character design ... way longer before gameplay.

  • AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO FINDS THE FOOTSTEPS TO BE VERY LOW. LIKE ITS SUBTLE EVERY WEN HES WEARING METAL STUFF

  • @richdice445k7 would be pretty annoying to hear *clank clank clank* every step though

  • @HeWhoEnjoysTehVids lmaooooo @*clank clank clank* its almost like hes floating in the dungeons. I play the witcher 2 and i hear every little thing in the world not that this does not have it. i guess im used to hearing *clank clank clank* in many of the rpgs that i play.

  • @richdice445k7 I dunno, comparing this to the Witcher 2 (a game in a much longer development cycle, and put together by a team of highly talented creators, dedicated to their IP, which is still criminally underrated) seems a little unfair. . .

If anything, the clanky armor was only funny when it was on Adelbert Steiner

  • @HeWhoEnjoysTehVids LMAOOOOOOOOOO THATS TRUE. THAT MADE ME LAUGH....POINT TAKEN. I HOPE THE NEXT GAME THEY PUSH THE LIMIT FURTHER. I HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS GAME. LIKE I DEAD ASS STOPPED PLAYING THE WITCHER 2 JUST TO PLAY IT. IM LOOKING TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON THIS GAME(ITS MY NEW EXCAPE RPG) AS I WAIT FOR VP3

  • @richdice445k7 This one looks like a fun game for arcade fans. It's probably not going to be the next Elder Scrolls/Dark Souls/Witcher, mainly because they are going for a game more heavily based on action. I actually really want to get my hands on this game, as I have just recently put down Skyrim; which burnt me out, and always lacked impact in the combat system (a plague with most Scrolls titles, for me). If you want an escape game, I dunno. . . Go in for a fun battle system.

  • Those rocks CAN hurt you, I watched a friend go from full to dead from those rocks.

  • OMG ITS ELF BIEBER LOL WITH VITILIGO

  • I find it hard to believe the design lead for Morrowind would make something like this, when Morrowind's about as far from generic fantasy bullshit (while still being fantasy) that you will find in the video game market.

  • The answer is simple - You DIDN'T die, you fainted on the battlefield when you first saw the enemy. This also explains why you don't have any visible cuts, bruises, or stab wounds. You aren't an ancient soul in a new body, you're just a lucky coward.

  • This looks alot like Fable with the cartoonish graphics and the fighting system and even the glow around interactive objects

  • 14:13 Brothers reunited! A happy day.

    36:30 Or not.

  • Ta'veren? Well, you did do the Balefire lance thing.

  • That little cape actually did make me think of Soul Reaver visually.

  • Fucking Winter Court princes, man. They're always up to something.

  • Thank you, SGF. I and my sibling just heard about KoA and wanted to know more. :)

  • Really weird how this was made. Linked to ME3 with that demo crap. Between skyrim and ME3 in releases, as well as SWTOR. All these big ambitions for a full blown setting that everyone will love, when the first game isn't even out. I guess you've got to admire that ambition, as silly as it is.

  • I can't take any game that lets you have a prospector's mustache seriously, I'm sorry.

  • The combat system looks SERIOUSLY similar to Fable

  • @Relaps45 though, he actually died once, so it's at least not stupid easy. . . at the moment lol

  • Fighter/mage/rogue breakdown? Check. Elf/dwarf/human cosmology? Check. Vaguely Welsh sounding names? Check. Goofy evocative compound titles like Fateweaver? Check. Congratulations, Amalur, you're every other fantasy game made before you! Way to pioneer!

  • I saw a fighting demo video that was really interesting, but the whole world and style reminds me of wow too much (and that's a bad thing) I wanted to like it, but now I'm not so sure I want to play it =(

  • why is it 2012 and game designers are still using that awful FANTASY font?

  • R.A. Salvatore is really awesome when you're 12. That should give you an idea.

  • It looks more the some bastard spawn of Dragon Age and Fable with its ugly menu screen and blasé dialogue wheel. I'm not sure if there's any need to give this game a chance, particularly if it’s another propped up fantasy franchise from EA.

  • Comment removed

  • It's honestly a travesty that people still get paid for overwrought designs like this game has, that looks like every other fantasy game ever made without looking either realistic or stylistically interesting.

  • I admit, I'm a huge fan of PC RPGs... And I really liked the combat. I like the sheer speed in being a rogue.

  • A general tip for would be villains... it is bad form to sit there, alone, on your throne, laughing manically. Makes one look insecure.

  • Lost my shit at xvEgeTax.

  • This game just seems like Fable to me.

  • @DharmaDaniel Fable was actually the first game I thought of too, for some reason. Though in this game's credit, it doesn't nearly make me want to strangle the game's makers like Fable games always do.

  • "There's some kind of deer thing over there... now there's not."

    Best line ever.

  • A whole weapon rack and only one shield...

  • It doesn't feel especially like Soul Reaver to me, perhaps because every minute of it feels distractingly like Fable.

  • Looks like the game or your keyboard glitched and was constantly spamming up.

  • This game looks slightly mediocre, but I do like the armor style. Very practical yet awesome. When it comes to RPG's sometimes it's the art that attracts me the most.

Also apparently, it's not going to be an MMO, though it was originally intended to be.

  • Soulreaver wooh!

i had no actual thought processes behind that comment, but in my excuse its 3.a.m. when i typed this so.... woo!

  • R. A. Salvatore is the GOD of writing!

  • As a general FYI, on the 360 at least, you pretty much unlock the ME3 stuff the second you open up the demo. Which was such a dumb move, because the only reason I would've played the whole thing would've been for that.

The game was beyond glitchy when I played on the 360. We're talking both small graphics/camera glitches AND falling through the world (and therefore ending my gameplay) glitching. This game might get a rent out of me when I am done with ME3 but that's about it.

  • @traceacex You get the armor for starting the demo and the gun for finishing it. Or maybe it's reversed. Either way.

  • @B5RobMan Ugh, does it give it to you when the time is up then? I might just let it run then.

  • @traceacex Yes, and that's fully viable. But I played all through it without even noticing the time.

  • @MidnightVoyager I got to something like twenty minutes and was bored to tears by it. So I might just let it run. Or maybe I'll give it another chance, I don't know. Just felt like it was a game I played before, only better made in every aspect.

  • You seem to have something against boxes... You should talk to someone about that.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this demo and it made me want to buy the game. I'm not big on the hokey generic fantasy shit, but the gameplay was simple fun and it seems like a big game with lots of stuff to do.

  • You know you got too hammered when you wake up in a pile of dead bodies.

  • The Adventures of Paleface Bieberstache

  • It seems like a bad decision to limit the player to one difficulty in a demo, considering they'll have no frame of reference for how much easier/harder the other modes are.
