  • Wish I had been there, I would do everything to get the message across...no matter the subject because thats what proInterpreters do.

  • Thank you so much. While I know that this is an older video, It still is SO valuable to me as I want to be a teacher for the Deaf. I'd always wanted to go into the special education field, and so I joined my passion with the Deaf/HoH community with compassion.

  • I interpret only at Church. Others want me to interpret in the world such as schools, courts etc. I don't feel comfortable doing that because I don't know those words... I don't know swear words I couldn't interpret them even if I wanted too.

  • I would translate everything since I don't have a belief/religion, but there are much interpreters who would do the same, or at least that's what I thought. As an interpreter in The Netherlands you can register your preference and if a deaf person wants an interpreter who DOES translate the swearwords too, he just has to reserve one that doesn't have a problem with doing that.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to tell you, and if you have any questions just ask me ;-) bye!

  • Hi :)

I've seen your video and i think it's really interesting what you say.

I study Dutch Sign Language for two years now. We also have (for example) Christian students at our study. They don't want to translate swearwords, and I understand that, but there are deaf people who have a belief/religion too, so the interpreters can interpretate for those people I think?
