I wasted my money on the extended warranty. Touch wood it will continue to be as reliable as it has since the day I bought it. Only fault; leaky windshield but that was a known fault and warranty fixed it by clearing the blocked sunroof drain tube.
I have driven my 97, ES, V8 petrol Discovery 1 all over Asia. Indonesia to Thailand, China to The Russian border. Other than a few minor things and an overhaul, it has never let me down. So what can I say?
The Discovery's a good suv, so what if it can't handle or stop quickly. It might be pig ugly and have a poor reliability record but so what may be you some people want that.
Well I am so sorry to dissapoint you but mine handles in an exemplary fashion and stops quicker than I expect it to, especially on snow and ice (common conditions for me). As for reliability, two years on and I still have to find as much as an annoying rattle.
In a survey Land Rover and Jag got the 2nd and 3rd worst reliability record. A car for the same price would perform much better on road. SUVs are worse on ice and snow with road tyres than a car.
people that buy rovers aren't concerned about reliabilty bcuz they can afford to fix them. ALL offroad vehicles, luxury performance vehicles, & sports cars have horrible reliabilty/depreciation. who cares! i say buy what you want, not what you NEED. u only live once, why settle? Land Rover is the best 4x4 cash can buy period...
Everyone who see's it up close is amazed how quiet the diesel engine is even with the bonnet open. It is more fuel efficient too than my old TD5 which was an unexpected bonus for a car that has a much bigger engine and weighs considerably more.
The silver trim is my mates car and it apparently is the only one in Switzerland but I know you can have it as an "extra" when ordering the car. I think it looks cool but can be prone to scrapes and scratchs being on protuding parts of the car.
amazing car go disco 3
