  • Chocky freaked me out as a kid!

  • un trabajo excelente y la musica es increible, la has hecho tu weegerri1sm?

  • you should make a remix of this, it could do with david saying chocky more than once etc :D

several "Chocky" "Yes david" in the remix :D

  • hey mathew wat u gonna b im gonna b a space man a fireman a soldier

  • @CastleSnowflake

...hehe! XD ....a cowboy, a train driver, a fireman, a pilot, I want to be your friend.

Wow, that brings back memories. :P

  • just scary...

  • this programme frightened the shit out of me when i was young .Not any more though , im a big boy now and mum says i dont have to be frightened of anything.

  • nice tune

  • yeah this was the highlight of my week when i was a nipper.

scared the hell out of me, but i loved it so much.

and the theme music was sublime.

dont suppose you've got a video clip of the end sequence have you?

i like your backing tune too!

    is it downloadable anywhere?

  • Hi.

I wasn't going to upload any more Chocky clips but I suppose the end titles wouldn't do any harm.

I am working on the MP3 and trying to contact composer who did the shorter original version.

I don't want to tread on anyones toes, y'know?

    I'll keep you posted. :)

  • this terrified me and entertained at the same time . forgot all about this til now , yey youtube!

  • OMG

I had the same freaking haircut when I was at primary school!

  • HAHA!!! I've still got it now! :P

Check my other vids for example.. XD

  • This scared the hell out of me as a kid. I would lay in bed at night and hope a malevolent creepy voiced swirling blue entity would not visit me.

Btw an excellent deep electro number you made there. Fresh. Only on the internet could I hope to find Chocky and some jacking Detroit together.

  • yep the nearest to Hindmere in Surrey is Hindhead, sounds similar to that! But definitely filmed in East Horsley (the road was "Horsley Park" off the A246 for any real die-hard fans out there!

  • Remember them filming for this in East Horsley, Surrey, I think they used a house their, obviously the one where the family were supposed to be living.

  • Cool. :) I remember thinking that the fictional Surrey town (Hindmere) was a genuine place.

I was disappointed to find out that Hindmere didn't really exist.

  • daba miedo (a mí me pilló con 10 años), pero era fascinante

gracias a internet mis amigos ya no me tomarán por loca

  • Ha ha! :) Many people think they are crazy until they are reminded by the internet that it really was on television. They didn't just imagine it! ;)

It was the best kids programme of that time, was it not?

  • does anyone know what time this came on TV? I was 10 when this was shown in 1984 and cant remember it what so ever.

  • madhobbit : "does anyone know what time this came on TV? I was 10 when this was shown in 1984 and cant remember it what so ever."

It was in the evenings, I think every Monday if memory serves, starting from the 9th Jan 1984.

It was on ITV (Made by Thames Television).

It was late on during the kids programmes.

It was also screened as a full, feature-length, omnibus edition on Monday 31 Dec 1984.

I was 14 (the same age as Andrew Ellams AKA Matthew Gore) when it was originally screened.

  • @madhobbit we saw it at school it was a bbc school thing i was 12 and we saw it on wedsdays and had milk for lunchtimes

  • I wonder whatever happen to that kid who played Matt? What's he doing now? It's funny, but I remember watching this & Chocky's Children it was called I think as a kid on Nick alot, but for some reason I never once thought of recording it!Thank goodness they put it out on DVD!I gotta get the DVD set!

    By the way, nice job!

    I give five stars!

  • Love the way you cut these clips together and the music suits it very well indeed. Thank you!

  • Thanks. ^^

  • AWESOME! Top marks for such a wonderful tribute to a deserving and under-appreciated drama. I loved watching this as a kid! :D

  • Chocky was my favourite ever kids drama too!

  • Yes it does exist.Have you ever thought when you was a kid you imagined these programmes? Then you find out they really was real 20 something years later. Its good to see Chocky back after all these years but that kid still gets on my nerves even now!

  • ive been everywhere trying to find this omg the memorys where can i buy this on dvd pls let me know i must have it !

  • Amazon! :) Look for Chocky - The Complete Collection.

  • My god!! the show existed!! I thought I had imagined it. I'm a spanish guy and I remember that serie, but I only could remember a boy called matthew and a extrange pyramide, I couldn`t remember nothing else. If a lot of people in England don't remember that serie, you can imagine what my friends says to me here in Spain when I talk to them about this...

  • Heheh.. There was a point where I started to think I just imagined it too! :P

I don't know why so few remember such an excellent programme, but yes, it happened! :)

  • a mi me pasa exactamente lo mismo, ninguno de mis amigos la recuerda !!!solo yo!!!

  • This happens with so many. You remember it but can't find anyone else who knows what you're talking about! :)

  • te puedo asegurar que existe!!!tranqui que los frikis son los que no lo vieron! lo que se perdieron!!!

que gran invento youtube, está sacando recuerdos de mis neuronas más escondidas.

  • YouTube is wonderful for digging up those distant memories isn't it? :)

  • Yo también tenía un vago recuerdo de la serie, y mis amigos no la recuerdan. Hay algo raro en esta serie... ¿Nos lavó el cerebro? ¿Nos quitó neuronas? Uuuuum, que miedo me da pensarlo.

  • This was wonderful. One of the best kids' TV programmes of that era ( and there were plenty of good ones).

  • FABULOUS series (I've in DVD)

3rd sequel is the worst because not so much Matthew.

It's funny to see A.Ellams in the first episode of 3rd sequel.

It change really (physically and voice) like is it was 3-4 years between Chocky'children ou chocky's challenge. But only 1 year !

Just sad A.Ellams don't want to speak about his short career of actor. It could be interesting for fan like me, like you...

    **What is this music ??

Do you have SoundTrack of Chocky series ?

    THANKS

  • Hi LunedeFiel.

I agree, the 3rd series wasn't as good. Not just because less Matthew but also because it was sooo, "gee whizz!" and corny!

The 1st and 2nd are the best.

The music is mentioned in the description and in the video itself..

It is my own cover version of the backing music from Chocky's Challenge. Peformed entirely by myself with additional bits which I composed to lengthen it.

If you like, please PM me for more info in it!

  • scary but ace!

  • I remember Chocky, when I ask my friends and family, nobody else remembers it, so it made me think i'd imagined it, thanks for posting this and letting me know it was real :)

  • only one thing i can say....BRING BACK CHOCKY.

my kids will love this i am going to invest in the dvds. thanx for blasting me back to my great childhood, where tv was great.

  • Andrew Ellams who played Matthew Gore is no longer acting he is a school teacher or something like that now.I loved this show it was great.

  • Oh my god -i thought i was going mad because no one else remembered this programme but thank goodness you have posted it on here! It used to scare the hell out of me! x

  • Chocky used to scare the living piss out of me.

  • Thats cool. Used to love this as a kid. So mysterious XD Great vid

  • NOT NOW CHOCKY!!!

  • Hey! I like the music!! You have to be a kid of the 80s for all this!

The music is very Kraftwerk, Phil Oakey, and a bit Sakamoto/Sylvian!!

    Zeer goed!! Proost vreinden!

  • That's right. Devin Stanfield who plays Matthews best friend Colin in Chocky. I've never seen Box of Delights actually. I must source it out! :)

  • I remember when it was The Show we all talked about in the playground.

  • excellent... i only looked on the off chance. Very fiew people can remember Chocky it seems. Must take a certain kind of person to remember this.. Well done.

  • Thank you PTHOMAS2211,

I think you are right. Hard core fans will remember.

It did influence a lot of people but it seems to be a bit of a niche thing. Glad you liked my humble little creation. :)

  • This used to make me so scared lol

  • Awesome. I used to love this show, most my friends don't remember it, they were probably watching the other side when this was on.

  • brings back old memories love this theme music to chocky ,keep up the good work

  • i loved the music mate, very kraftwerk sounding

Thanks for sharing the video, i loved this series so much

i'm off to buy the DVDs

  • thats ace, musics good too!

  • Thanks.. The music is actually my own performance. It is based on music written by John Hyde but I composed the rest and performed the lot! :) If anyone would like anymore information on it or any of my other compositions please feel free to message me.

  • i had superman bed covers like those!

  • I liked it, the music really went well with it :)

  • I Agree my friend, fantastic Chocky was. Shame he is no longer an actor.

    Steve

  • Loved Chocky, when I was young. It was up there with Tripods.

  • Way ahead of it's time. Great compilation, the music really captures that 80's synthasizer era!

  • This was a head of its time, the voice sounds like Donny Darko...

  • i once got ferrero roche in that triangle once!!!

  • great stuff!!!
