  • So what exactly did he do other than crawl down the powerline?

  • @flanksteak2 I can't speak to that as I'm not a lines-man, but I suspect they look for cable-frey / signs of wear and when they get to the towers I expect they check-out the spacer / isolators...

  • This is like some nature show!

  • What documentary is this from?

  • V2 if this video, better quality:

    youtu.be/r_1T2_l43Xo[url]

  • Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night.. All day!

  • @ChillingWithGod yea boi! everlast podcast

  • Wasn't this on Modern Marvels?

  • thats really shocked me how people can do that how ever any thing again and again must become easyer

  • How come he doesn't create an arc himself when he touches those 2 phases at the same time?

  • @sonconmas if you watch at the start, he puts the hot stick(metal rod) on the line, making the metal suit around him the same voltage, then while the stick is on, he clamps a lead on to do the sticks job while he climbs on. and in reverse when he gets off the line

  • @sonconmas i don't think that 2 phases.. i think its the same phase i.e 2 conductors for phase A etc...

  • @banitachril Oh yeah, for easier phase distribution

  • @sonconmas Not two phases, just a double conductor, I've worked on double stranded lines before that were intertwined and not seperate, but, they were energized at distribution voltage. No need for a hot suit, just rubber gloves and sleeves. You can still can draw a pretty good arc with a screwdriver and a insulated bucket truck!

  • @TheMoezilla Haha cool! I had a stupid moment, I just realized that they're obviously not 2 phases! Thanks anyway!

  • I am Truly impressed!

  • is there max winds the work cannot be done in?

  • This is just great a team of people that do something amazing so we can live ordinary lives.

  • @canacourse No theyre just adrenaline junkies

  • good job from the helicopter's pilot, too!

  • wonderful job :)))

  • what it's called the music?

  • @Elbicka That question has been asked a few times Elbicka... I'm afraid I don't have the answer.

  • @AbattoirDotNet thanks

  • Michael Brook is apparently the Canadian composer (from Toronto) who did much of the music in this documentary (according to Ianandvicki below) -- hope that helps.

  • Thanks to these guys that gives electricity to our homes, so we can still surf on YouTube.. <3

  • ohm.......

  • @orison319 Haha!

  • That's fukt !!!

  • Outstanding mix of music and video. 5 stars on this and the story was told well. THIS is what should win the Oscars, not the F-Bomb nonsense we see today.

  • The music is also brilliant. Can anyone tell me what it is? Thanks :-)

  • @ianandvicki There is a Canadian composer from Toronto who apparently made this five-four time music and other tracks for just this documentary. I could not post the link to Michael Brook on iMDB

  • Is there a reason they can't just insulate those cables?

  • @ManicParroT it's wayy cheaper and easier to use air as an insulator, for example, if you tried to insulate 500,000 volts using PVC, you'd need a thickness of at least 150 mm.

  • this guy is my new hero. amazing.

  • ah ha ha, what a great ending line

  • holy shit that job looks awesome but would suck with fast wind

  • He's obviously not getting electricuted but unfortunately there will be long term health consequences.

  • @trogedon How do you know?

  • Assasins Creed: High Voltage

    In your Theatre soon

  • Hey, I've found a better quality sample of this video clip, check my videos for V.2

  • i love heights, im a technician workin on pylons i love this job really exiting

  • I wonder what kind of money they make?

  • I've received lots of email about this clip, I think I've found the origin... "Straight Up: Helicopters in Action" -- you can read more about it on the IMDB

  • As they say:

"If you ever mess up, you're toast"

But with this job it's for real

  • I love this vid. My trade school lecturer showed us this heaps. Cool as.

  • These guys got some serious balls

  • "There's only three things im afraid of, electricity, heights, and... now wait a minute im married too" <-- lol this guy is awesome!!!

  • Does anyone know how to get in touch with the guy who made this, please?

  • @Bubblekopf

I can not tell you the name of the production, but I'm to understand it's "The History of Helicopters", filmed in iMax. I think The Smithsonian had a part in the production.

  • Many thanks for that

  • @Bubblekopf I saw this on Modern Mavels on the history channel sometime last year.

  • great brave man

  • at 2:06 I crapped my pants

  • Great video! :0)

  • Incredible...and this work isn't even considered to be one the top 10 Dangerous Jobs in the world..and they don't get paid enough which is between 60 to 100k annually

  • these guys are awesome, and what a rush. If the electricity doesn't kill you the fall will. I dont think they get paid enough

  • Agreed, he tells the story very well!

After a little research, I found this clip was from a "Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum giant screen celebration of helicopters and their many and vital roles in contemporary society around the world." (IMDB) Damned, I think it's in iMax too!
