  • これめっちゃはまったw

  • リメイクしてほしいなwww

  • I loved this game in the 80's. In the DFW area I was holder of the test track ghost at 3 putt putts. One other guy and I would battle for high score and test track ghost.

  • i remeber the arcade i use to go to this game was 6 tokkens to play

  • Remake for Vectrex!

  • I WANT MY XBOX BACK!!

  • Whoa... this actually looks playable compared to the ports.

...in fact it ACTUALLY LOOKS FUN!!

  • これ遅く見えるけど

    とても似てるから、操作感覚

    キーを回して発車するとか

    マニュアルはクラッチ操作まで必要

    これは本物並でしょ

  • this game is true to its name HARD. I cant remember what console i had it for but damn it was tough

  • shit.

  • One of my favorite arcade games. The physics were great so I found it impossible, but I loved how you turned an actual key to start playing.

  • The genesis version sucked....this was the only track. I was bummed when I bought it. Might as well ask...Was this the only track available?

  • i loved crashing in this game.

  • at 1:40 a SEMI makes the loop headed in the wrong direction... now that's some HARD DRIVIN'!

  • When you compare this to the home console / computer versions you realize why this should have STAYED in the arcade.

  • oh my god, I used to play this game back in the day when i was 14 years old with my buddy at the Arcade. try this game with the Manual transmission, now that is a challenge.

  • I used to play this game at the skate rink when i was like 6 and i pretended to be a badass by not stepping on the clutch and trying to start the car. "COME ON START GOD DAMN IT START IT WONT START!"

  • The car sounded cooler in the arcade version then the genesis version.

  • I like how ordinary cars and trucks not in the race just go on and off the loop de loop as if it were an ordinary thing. As if, who would ever devise such a road way for people driving to work.

  • なつかしw

  • this was at my arcade for a long time. we still played it in the mid 90's.

  • I remember when you hit the cow it goes "moooo"

  • I used to love driving into the cow. Only hit the cow because l felt evil and then wet myself laughing!!!

  • impressive game and 3d graphics for 1988. when i saw the video for the first time, the gameplay and car physics reminds me fatal racing (or Whiplash in USA). a few seconds after when i saw the first loop i had no doubt these games had similarities. either the programmer of this stuff worked also for fatal racing some years after either, they get really inspired by hard drivin' at sierra.

  • this game actually gets a little repetitive to me..

  • ooohhh you lost thats not good this game was brutal

    infact its so brutal that

it was going to take those quarters

    with no sign of remorse

    its beast of a setup

    ate

    so many

  • @cronodob

Yeah, it ate quarters like M&M's but IT WAS AWESOME!

  • opps, my mistake, i was 5 last time i played this

  • i remember this game, i played it once when i was 4, it was awesome, seeing this brings back memories

  • if you go by the barn the other way you can ramp over it

  • I was "quicker licker" when I played it...the steering feel was great! But it was hard to find a machine where everything worked (Then stick shift, the seat lock, etc.) Once I broke the brake pedal on a sit-down machine!!!

  • I remember all the acarde games had power steering except this goofy ass one

  • I spent a small fortune on this down the arcades, was always in the number 1 spot. Helped with the proper driving test too (gear changes mind not actually driving fast)

  • why is there SO MUCH TIRE SQUEEL!!!

  • @AnonymoussourceL0L There shouldnt be, I certainly dont remember that much

  • Haha, I remember playing this for hours on my Genesis. Looking back, it was a terrible port, this is clearly superior in all ways.

  • i use to laugh my ass off at that song when you crash

  • I remember this game in the arcade near my old house when I was younger. I used to be good at this game... Anyone know where I can get the arcade version of it for sale? i would love to have one of these in my house, lol

  • its on midway arcade treasures 2. for the gamecube ps2 and xbox :P

  • If you want a good port of this, look up "Race Drivin a gogo", it's a PS1 port only realeased in Japan with extra cars and even trucks and a 3 wheeler, also has Ridge Racer like physics.

  • this was a true sim with actually smooth true 3d graphics back then

  • I have one of these in a friends basement...

  • the genesis version should be called "impossible drvin".

  • @DCSAmimd how about lynx version?

  • @alimite "heart attack drving".

  • Man I used to play this game back in the day like crazy. I remember driving off the side of the cliff and being extremely happy. :)

    Great memmorys.

  • its included on midway arcade treasures 2 for the ps2,xbox and gamecube.

  • Someday I am going to buy this game and put it in my basement. One of my favorite arcade games of all time. Too bad alot of the machines for sale out there are broken...Alot of them have problems with the shifter working right or the force feedback steering going crazy.

Also the sega version was horrible and didn't even compare.

  • 'Also the sega version was horrible and didn't even compare.'

That was the problem with all console and home computer conversions of Hard Drivin' at the time. They just didn't have the dedicated Texas Instruments DSPs that the arcade version had to render the 3D properly, and at a good frame rate.

The Sinclair Spectrum version was just awful and wasn't even playable. jerk..jerk..jerk.

  • I wish this version was for windows, I have the old Dos one, it's not quite as good

  • Just get MAME for Windows.

BTW I'm using MAME on Mac OS X here. :)

  • First arcade gane I was willing to pay a buck to play.

  • ahhh, memorys..... this actually helped me with my driving lessons on manual.

  • This game is from 1988. It's the first 3d racing game ever released.

  • How old is this game?

  • This game was tight as hell just too fucking hard. The genesis version was gay.

  • this is like a million times better than the Genesis version!

  • even the graphics

  • i've hated this game for so fucking long....i have it on Sega (Sega Master System, the gaming console made in 1990)....

  • dang thats old, i remember this. why the hell was there a loop in the road???!!!

  • Too bad you lost man. I beat Phantom Photon on the Genesis in Race Drivin' I put video of it in my channel I had to brag about something I guess lol

  • LMFAO I remember the damn loop 1:44 everytime I did it I always ask myself, I was super young like 5 years old: "WHAT THE FUCK IS THE TRAFFIC DOING ?? THEY FOLLOW THE SPEED LIMIT AND TAKE THE WHOLE LOOP !?" l0l0l this game was super hectic !!

  • This game is a blast to play. I was playing Race Drivin' on my Genesis the other day. I really want to play it again now. I just might.

  • Classic gaming FOREVER

  • ha yeah if you are bored check out my channel. I put up a few primitive videos of me playing it. Cya.

  • What happened to the music and sound ?? l0l0l I loved when I watched replays of getting mad air then just catching fire ahahah

  • If you read my video notes I have a old digital camera. It doesn't pick up sound as far as I know and it can only record a maximum of 16 seconds of video.

Thanks for actually checking them out though haha

  • Used to love this game, as well...had the Genesis version, and it's also included on Midway Arcade Treasures 2, but the control's just awful!

  • My hero.

  • I remember that i used to like running into the cow by the barn @ 1:11! When ya ran it over it used to "moo..."! Tha arcade was sick...tha sega genesis version sucked!

  • Yeah, the mooing cow was my fave part, as well. :-)

  • wow this is a lot better than the one for the genesis / sega

  • This game had the best force feedback output and physics modeling ever in the full arcade version. I've still to see a driving simulator like this one today in an arcade.

  • Ma questo è il cubo di rubik

  • Oh, che hanno legalizzato l'acido lisergico in Italia? Che ti sei calato?

  • Intendo la grafica cubica....

  • The home version for Genesis had a terrible frame rate (probably 15 fps). At least the arcade version looks close to around 30. I can't lie, though. I thought this game was the shit in the arcades back in the day.

  • Hey the gens was old but for the system to be able to even have these graphics as well as doom is unbelievable.

  • OMG I used to LOVE this game!! I miss it...it was so advanced and the graphics were awesome back in the day :) funny to see it now.

  • Why'd you take the stunt course during the championchip? you could just run over the signs blocking the speed course

  • I played this a few times at a Putt Putt in the early 90's. Since then i got this game on Midway Arcade Treatures collection on PS2. Vol 1 and 2 of that collection are the best to me. Great game.

  • It's also on Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe Edition on PC. Great to see it running at full speed!

  • This game was a head of it's time. I remember how the cows moo'd when you hit them.

  • it looks so damm funny when u crash

  • The local funspot has one of these. It crashes every other minute. :P

Fortunately, they also have Race Drivin', which does not.

  • 4:05 & 4:10 - PWNED!!!

  • This game was really fun. One of the things I would like to do was take the stunt course, go over the open draw bridge, turn around, and then go back and jump over the barn and crash to see the replay.

the best home port of this was for the Sega Genesis. The controls were really nice.

  • 4:08-4:12.... saw it coming.. and felt it bashing... Couldn't get out of the way O_O

  • 00:52 Vtec just kicked in yo!

  • virtua racing 32x bitch! now what!!!

  • I like to see how many times I can wreck with this game. It's funny as hell, and the only enjoyable part of this game.

  • Ok kids, time for a math problem....a sports car driving 30 mph hits a minivan driving 40 mph head on...how fast does the sports car fly backwards after contact? 150 mph. Yes, that's right. Lol. Phantom Photon physics at work.

  • This game is genki

  • Look at 0:47, there's a road to the left. There's a small circle like a skid pad. Did you know this?

  • はい。輪止めのような小さな円があるのは知っております。サターン版のレースドライビンでやってましたから。

    別に通ってても意味がないと思いましたから。

  • レスとんくす!

  • And if you hit the cow, it goes MOO!

  • i played this on midway arcade treasures 2

  • cool

  • i remember playing this and crashing on purpose, what a waist of quarters it was fun as hell tho jumping off the loop sideways and doing like 3 flips

  • hehe! yeah,i would have my mom play and she said it made her dizzy. i loved going slow in the loop, hitting the cow,and goin off the embankment just so i could see the replays!!

  • Well at least you didn't die every 5 seconds like the Genesis port. It seems much better than the Genesis port in general. You can actually live through the stunt course lol. The sounds were kinda annoying though

  • The genesis version is fine so long as you dont use an emulator which seems the new thing for old games

  • shitty wheels cars haved in the 80s...

  • well, maybe the best of it's time; paper thin wheels(dump truck is an exception), horrible physics, annoying sounds, gotta love the 80's

  • They made a 3 screen version of this game, which I was lucky to play in Kirkland, WA. years ago. search 'hard drivin panorama' it was a monster...and rare!

  • I saw that in Vancouver about 15 years ago. It had 4 speed and a reverse gear, the shifter actually locks up mechanically if you don't press in the clutch. Each pedal movement feel like a real car. You can actually feel the control of the car change when you clutch in during a skid. And this was designed in the 1980's!

  • This game rocks. I have in on Midway Arcade Treasures

  • oh my god the memories. spent hours playing it on megadrive(genesis) & loved it, even though it only got 50% ish in mags.

  • This game blows...I own it for Genesis. You explode if you're off the track for more than 10 seconds. Explode? WHAT?!?!

  • I do not remember seeing that happen on the Genesis/Mega Drive versions.

  • The arcade just puts you back on the track!

This is emulated, right? the engine sound is much more choppy! On most machines I could GAIN at least 2 seconds each lap on the super stunt track...

  • yeah, me too, it was possible to actually ADD 2 seconds to your time each lap if you were good enough - I always used the sit down version with the proper force feedback. My score got so high one session that the machine ran out of display digits and crashed the machine.

  • Hard Drivin iz a classic...Fa Realz...Arcade and Genesis. And Race Drvin also...Word Up!!

  • agred hard drivin is my most favroite retro game ever!

  • Is that it?? IS THAT IT?? I spent so much money at the arcade trying to get round that stunt track and that's all there was!!!!! Well done you for do finishing it. l could only ever get as far at the loop the loop.

  • Hard-ass game. I played it on the Genesis.

  • this game was the start of something amazing... third dimention interaction with force feedback and physics. crazy how one small sim changed everything after it's release.

  • memories, one of the many games I grew up with.

  • Yeah, I remember this game... The graphic sucks, but it doesn't matter-it's one of the best games that I ever played...

  • Yea I used to play this in the arcade. This game was hard.

  • you guys are lucky you got an arcade around you. I never had an arcade anywhere near my house... not even one of those arcades that are like a 20 minute drive or something. i played this game on the sega

  • lol, the last time i played this game on the arcade the damn wheel kept moving on its own
