yeah man! it fucking sucks! I remember when dvd's first came out. getting the dvd version was like getting the special edition. the first dvd I got was iron monkey, and first dvd release the copy I own is the best version and I can't find it anywhere. It's bullshit.
I could not agree enough, they sure do love to fuck us over. I hate that when old movies get a DVD release, it's always of VHS quality, surely it wouldn't be hard to fix up the picture quality and we rarely get good special features for older movies, they charge a lot of money, just to give people an actor bio or the original trailer.
Another dumb thing about Blu-rays is that often some titles lack the extras of their DVD counterparts. Casino Royale for example on Blu-ray has none of the feature that are on the three disc DVD collectors set. As a James Bond fan I find this really stinks.
Also the Ghostbusters Blu-ray for some reasons does not bring over some of the features of the DVD version, which is a real shame since they are fun extras.

They are trying to force our hands at buying Blu-Ray players and films, by including exclusive features that could easily be put on a regular DVD. Also they keep on splitting disc up on special features, even though the one disc could hold it all.
The views on this are no where near what they should be its such a disappointment to see a good youtuber with as much passion and skill for reviews/rants get unnoticed.
speaking of bullshit DVD's/Blu-ray's, why hasn't Mortal Kombat got a special edition DVD? they are coming out with a Blu-ray for it, but it has no kinds of special features, just the trailer and some animated tie-in, which is bullshit cause...how come Mortal Kombat gets shitty DVD, even though it was a good movie and a success, yet Street Fighter gets a special edition, even though that movie sucked and flopped?

One release that pissed me off was The Simpsons Movie, it has hardly any worthwhile deleted scenes aside from a few alternate scenes and a commentary which a lot of people say isn't that good, anyway there are plenty of deleted scenes they could've included like the one released by comic con where Homer fights off the citizens one by one in the house when they attack, and the deleted scenes featuring Sideshow Bob, Isla Fisher, and Minnie Driver, there was no reason why they couldn't include them
Another deleted scene I heard about was during Shredder's introduction he has released the members of the clan who were defeated by the turtles earlier and he beats them up after they spar with him and he slashes their faces, I know it exists because people have reportedly seen this scene and stills have been found.
Great video buddy. A few things, the reasons some blu rays has grain is because the fine detail of the film is in the grain. By removing all the grain it would make everyone look like wax figures and would defeat the purpose of it being on blu ray. However, some do have too much grain that is just a shabby transfer.
I'm telling you Matt these companies are run by people out of business school who aren't fans. Their main concern is to save money and try to make as much as possible, but they honestly care much less about us fans who actually put money in their pockets. Is there a legitimate reason why some films (especially the more rare ones) will get a release in some countries but not the usa? I live in England and it is something I have never understood. Is there a reason for there being so many different versions of the same film in circulation but in different areas?
I think there's alot of appreciation for the older films from high ranking film restoration groups. They are the people restoring birth of a nation, nosferatu, etc and honestly it's obvious they wouldn't go near a slasher film from the 80s. Alot of times they just restore films because of how bad of a state it's in and if it's not restored the film would become unwatchable and/or lost forever.
It's worth owning alot of Kubricks films though, and FMJ is available on Blu-ray. I'm more annoyed with the fact that Barry Lyndon is so rare. WTF? It's one of my favorite films (top 50) and I had to buy a used dvd.
Blu-rays have gone down in price, and most blu-rays have a good amount. Criterion dvds have a shit load of features but they're very pricey.
There's a mess up on the 4 film favorites Blade collection. There are only special features on the 1st film and the TV pilot. It says on the back that Blade Trinity has features, but it lists Blade II features.
What I mean is, like it says Blade Trinity has 2 commentaries with Director Guilermo Del Toro and others. But he directed part 2 not 3. But there's nothing on part 2 or 3 except the movie. So idk what the hell.

i couldn't agree more on this bullshit. "Friday The 13th Part III" doesn't have shit but a pair of 3-D glasses and I don't think the special editions of Plains, Trains, and Automobials" and "Airplane" had shit either.

To matt I have gotten so many bare bone release it's not funny. Can you believe that with the e xception of the trailers and a hidden alternate ending on the first movie dvd they have not done a single special feature for Critters. That was one of the most fucken successfull of the three gremlins rips of criietrs ghoulies and munchies. WTF
