one thing that's always been impressive by the Braves is their farm system and their player development. But Heyward is a grown man at 20 years old and will be a star for years to come. I'm just afraid that this huge expectation has been put on his shoulders. Sooner or later the rookie mistakes are gonna happen, he's gonna slump, a 162 game season is gonna drag on him. But he's gonna be a great ball player that should be fun to watch mature.
Anyone remember Jeff Franconeur? I barely do, but Franconeur is a good object lesson that we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves here. He looked good and hopefully he keeps looking good a few seasons later when pitchers settle into what he doesn't like, and he's experienced slumps/injuries/expectations/etc.
MikePH67 @SuperJohnjim ur an idiot first of all i play at east cobb where jason came from and watched him play all the time and ive watched him all through the minors Jason is good enough he should have skipped the minors if you kno anything abt baseball you would kno tht im a D1 prospect so ik a lil more on how to judge a players ability
ok superjohn lets see....tom glavine was old we let him go........andruw jones strike outs we let him got to dodgers that had a good ending...rafael furcal he wanted to be the richest ss in the game while we a rbi machine called yunel escobar..lets see who we kept chipper jones who won the batting title in 08..brain mccan is easily the second best catcher in the league..so please learn your facts before you post comments...oh btw the way the good young talent who became anything was jermaine dye
2nd or 3rd best. Top 3 are Mauer (obv number 1) then you could put victor martinez or brian mcann in any order of 2,3. Victor hit more homeruns, had more rbis, and a higher average than mcann, so i would put victor at the 2 spot. Who's at 4th, Weiters of baltimore or Napoli of the angles?
they let tommy go for the new tommy hanson who in a full season should be a key for success. I think the Vasquez trade was stupid, I guess they figure Hudson can be a factor. Hopefully Jones can stay healthy(I doubt it) McCann if healthy can be very very good. I hope Heyward is an instant success.
the braves will trade him just like every other good player to come through the braves organization that or he will leave for a better team so live it up while hes here it wont be for long and btw im a braves fan i just know what they do not tryin to piss yall off thats just a fact
@SuperJohnjim haha you are an idiot, They didnt trade chipper, andruw stayed until he became a fat slob, they kept their entire staff together for years, there whole team was pretty much brought up through their organization, get a fuckin clue
I'd have to agree with MikePH, you don't know what you are talking about. The Braves really don't have that much of a history of trading off great players in their prime. They make big trades less than most teams and they've done a great job retaining the players who are worth keeping.
Sure some leave, and sure they make a bad trade on occasion. It happens. They do it less than a lot of other teams. Jesus look how long the core of the 90s team, w/ the pitching staff, stayed together.
I have to agree with MikePH, you don't know what you are talking about. The Braves don't have a history of trading good players in their prime. They make big trades less than most teams and they have been great because they retain their best players.
Sure players leave and some bad trades are made on occasion. It happens, and to the Braves less than most teams. Jesus look how long they kept the core of that 90s team together; they just got older and fell away, now it's time for a new team.
This dude's a beast. Against the Mets in the preseason opener he walked twice, stole 3 bases and ripped a single down the first base line that was such a rifle shot that it was well into right field before the camera angle guy even had a chance to flip over the view. The first baseman looked like he was frozen, fearing for his life or something.
I read that he will quit organized baseball unless the Braves trade him to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He wants to play for an organization that is in line to win at least 5 of the next 10 World Series.
wow, he didnt get ahold of any of those pitches

When he gets burned out in the minors and looses interest, that is when the Braves will bring him up.
