I miss the 80s when computers could do anything from making human women to gaining self awareness. When in reality if you could get them to do a simple math problem you felt like freaking genius
I loved this movie! One correction, Minuet in G is often incorrectly attributed to J.S. Bach because it appears in the Ana Magdalena notebook, but since the 1970s scholars have attributed it to Christian Petzold. Look him up on Wikipedia.
I watch this movie when I was very young and still love it today because it's a beautiful romantic movie paired with how computer technology affect us at that time, a showcase of love and electric dreams !
Thanks for this. This is my favorite classical piece. I had no idea what it was called or that Bach did it. But I wish Edgar would do all the classical pieces. If all classical had techno and a beat I'd definitely listen to it a lot more than almost never. I don't even like instrumentals longer than solos between words. But I've sought this.
Minuet in G Major" by Johan Sebastian Bach in 3/4 time. It was later adapted by 1960s song writers Sandy Linzer and Danny Randall for the Song,"Lovers Concerto" for The Toys the 1960s girl group which became a # 2 hit on the Billboard Charts in 1965! This song was in4/4 time, instead of 3/4 time by J.S. Bach!
I love the rare version by The Fleetwoods of the song Lovers' Concerto because they use a harpsichord which blends with their great vocals!
this scene reminds me of when my dad use to watch this movie and her would replay it all the time. We could never find the soundtrack since it was made in England... but a week after he died we found the only copy in the record store it was ordered by mistake. it was fitting actually, this also is what got me playing cello. this coming tuesday i'm getting a tattoo of the first 4 measures of this song.

I absoutely loved everything about this film, i still do. I was an original computer geek back in the 80's, still am and Virginia Madsen is still GORGEOUS!
Wonderful piece of music, wonderful arrangement, it's fantastic to see it again. Thanks Jaysbar, you've made my night!
Giorgio Moroder also incorporated portions of Pachelbel's Canon in D Major into this impressive arrangement. It first comes in at about 2:58 in this video.
It is AMAZING what DOS 2.8 could do. I'll bet this was a 4 MgHz CPU and everything. 16 kb of RAM and a CGI screen.
Wow, if we only had computers like that today.
Where did we go wrong?
