for example: Homophone (same sound) is a type of homonym as is a homograph (same write).

If you want to be really anal you could say that the majority of these homonyms are heterographs (different) because they sound the same but are written differently, but then you'd look even more stupid because some are homographs; it's easier to say they're all homonyms. Good job uploader.

actually, "refundgame" and tom are both right. Look them up and you'll see that they use the two words as synonyms of each other, but if you read their specific, more in-depth definitions, homonyms are indeed words that are spelled and pronounced the same but have different meanings, whereas homophones are words pronounced the same but have both different spellings and meanings. I'm not trying to be a troll; I'm just a word-nerd who likes accuracy. Happy dictionary hunting!

Funny song, but these actually are homophones, not homonyms. Homonyms are words that are spelled the same and have the same pronunciation but have different meanings, like "left" (opposite of right) and "left" (past tense of leave). Homophones are words that are pronounced the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings...such as his "balm" and "bomb", "brake" and "break", "meet" and "meat", etc.
