I love all of your videos! But by blocking views on iPods I can't watch them. There's no valid reason youtube made this an option. The only way some people can get youtube is on an iPod. :(
@TomWilsonUSA, this song was reminiscent of Bob Snider, an awesome folk singer from Nova Scotia. One of his better-known songs is 'Darn Folksinger'; look it up on Youtube if you have some time to kill...
If any of his albums made it stateside, I'd recommend 'em all.
A rare combination. Though this is not something for the masses, as you are probably aware of. Best of all, you made me feel clever as well, since I understood almost everything in your song, although English is not my first language. Thank you, Tom. Respect!
Homonyms are great By that I mean abrasive metal Homonyms are sweet I mean a very large hotel room And when I say "I love you" I mean female sheep And when I say "I want to" I really really want two female sheep, Oh Homonyms, it's only what you hear I don't mean "here" like where we're standing I mean when you listen with your ear When I say "mean" I don't mean I'm angry I mean just what I say When I say "I" I don't mean "e.y.e" I mean "I", the not mean me, Oh
Ok I've tried writing this down, but I'm having trouble with 2 lyrics. The one about "sentences" and the one about "heir". I won't be able to figure it out so I'll just leave it be.
Great lyric play! And look at how uptight the homoPHONE crowd is getting. This is what happens to people with MFA's in English Lit and no job. :-/ Also, I found it interesting to finally hear a McPherson guitar...sounds pretty good!
homo from the greek meaning same, and nymos from the greek for name. Referring to both written and spoken names.
for example: Homophone (same sound) is a type of homonym as is a homograph (same write).
If you want to be really anal you could say that the majority of these homonyms are heterographs (different) because they sound the same but are written differently, but then you'd look even more stupid because some are homographs; it's easier to say they're all homonyms. Good job uploader.
@TomWilsonUSA wow i think its hilarious sometimes the way some people want to correct everyone and get all scientific and down to the details about things. how about this: who cares what you really call them?... this is a fun song. so get over it.
actually, "refundgame" and tom are both right. Look them up and you'll see that they use the two words as synonyms of each other, but if you read their specific, more in-depth definitions, homonyms are indeed words that are spelled and pronounced the same but have different meanings, whereas homophones are words pronounced the same but have both different spellings and meanings. I'm not trying to be a troll; I'm just a word-nerd who likes accuracy. Happy dictionary hunting!
Tom, you have way too much time on your hands, but hey, at least you use it constructively and by that I mean you build things! I love this song! Keep up the awesomeness! I hope I get to your level of comedic genius someday.
Geez never really thought about how many homonyms there really are! It's amazing how you come up with these songs. Not only funny, but ur very cleaver! Keep it up Tom. ;)
rather than worry about the exact definition of a homonym, especially as it depends upon the context of how they were intended to be used in the song, how about just saying great performance and look forward to many more of these?
Funny song, but these actually are homophones, not homonyms. Homonyms are words that are spelled the same and have the same pronunciation but have different meanings, like "left" (opposite of right) and "left" (past tense of leave). Homophones are words that are pronounced the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings...such as his "balm" and "bomb", "brake" and "break", "meet" and "meat", etc.
Wow... John Schneck is right to idolize you!! Haha!! You're pretty talented Mr. Wilson! And may I add I saw you on "Reba" today? Muy bien sir. Muy bien!
Wow, Tom, this was REALLY COOL!! I like how you're also a comedian, as well as being a musician, and you're able to combine the two together. Awesome!! I also i'm a musician and play my Korg O1/WFD keyboard alot, and I play music by ear. This was VERY creative. ;)
Tom, you have a wonderful sense of humor. I wish they would play your songs on the radio because the crap they have on there rot my ears. Sometimes we have the radio on in the office and I have to slam the off button. All that screaming is insanity. And I love the guitar sound. It sooths the soul. Makes me want to learn to play the guitar.
Love this song, it makes your brain shift gears! I saw you back in the 90's out at the Tempe Improv in AZ (Cowboy Tommy's Western Roundup!) and you broke out the Tuba from your marching band days. Any chance you could treat us to a video of that bit?
"This may be the worste song you've ever listened too. But Wurst is a German hotdog, so I guess the jokes on you!" LOL! Class! He's a Ledge! He needs to tour the UK esp Wlales where the "I mean two sheep" line would go down great!
love the irony in the thesaurus line...looking up words that have same/similar meanings as opposed to homonyms -- words that have the same/similar sounds (makes sense since the song is "for the marginally literate")
Once upon a time we saw Thomas F. Wilson as a one-dimensional character actor, a one-trick pony. Who knew he could tell jokes, sing, play guitar, or write incredibly funny, catchy, and clever songs? Look forward to seeing more videos but most of all, how do i get your songs iTunes?
Very clever - It'd be nice to see it all written down somewhere as you're way too quick for us! Then again seeing it written down misses the point of the homonyms!

"W.o.n", number one
Wurd! (that's a homonym...)
Peace! (another homonym!)
Bye!
I've probably made a few mistakes but I'm happy with it...
yugisr 1 year ago
Do-do Do-Do-Do Do-Do, "d.u.e" that time
Do-do Do-Do-Do, "d.e.w"
"For" and "four", "f.o.u.r"
Homonyms are major elders
I hope that doesn't make you tense
I mean those nylon camping shelters
This may be the worst song you've ever listened to
But "wurst" is a german hotdog, so I guess the joke's on you, hey
Do-do Do-Do-Do Do-Do, "d.i.e.u.x", (hoo, that's french!)
yugisr 1 year ago 6
@yugisr Homonyms "amaze your elders."
TomWilsonUSA 1 year ago 7
Do-do Do-Do-Do Do-Do, Do's a homonym
Sentence, sentence, sentence, sentences just fill the air
By "heir" I mean Daddy's money
Homonyms are everywhere
And every night I pray
I mean the victim of a predator
And have myself a hero
I mean a sandwich not a Senator
yugisr 1 year ago
Homonyms are decent
Like when you come down from a mountain
I choose homonyms, I masticate them with my mouth then
You may think It's dinosaurish but words are fun, can't you see?
So break out that thesaurus and figure out homonyms with me, oh

I hope I bomb tonight
By that I mean "use no shirt"
I'll get my one big break
Which means I'm stopping forward motion
And the people I meet
I mean their flesh, don't be alarmed
I hope they find this humorous
By that I mean my upper arm
yugisr 1 year ago
