87-95 are far better superior SUV than any other make of the same years. Toyota are loose and gutless, nissan 3.0L engine is bullet proof. I have a 94 for the last 8 years and I ran that thing through alot of mud and its my DD, I never had any issues. nothing like the pieces of shit they make today.
@jtester75 Couldn't agree more. My 86.5 Hardbody has the VG30 in it and it will never quit. I beefed up the IFS and lifted it with 33's and still has all the power I need.
they are good old birds me i had a 2003 pathfinder for 2 years and i had to sell it cause i got bored and i bought a bmw but the nissan was a very good offroader.
thanks 4 the info. We ended up getting a 2000Toyota 4Runner and its more than we could ask for. They are my favorite SUVs, but I love Pathys. The Pathfinders Bose sterio system was amazing tho, Toyota's Dolby system sucks.
Well for around 300$ you could change the hole systhem but still good choice cause japanese cars a though,my best friend just bought a year ago a Nissan Xterra cause he need it a good off roader and the only thing that he broke, actualy i broke, when we got in the woods was the front bumper when i got irritated cause a guy could not get out so i towed him out but i gunned it and hit a big rock under water and it broke but it cost me 200$ to change it for him but still good toyotas the 4runner's
yeah I love Japanese cars. Very reliable, lightweight, and damn good offroad. And ppl call them imports and all that, but my toyota is made right here in USA and some American cars aren't even made here. But even so, whats it matter where a car is made as long as its a great vehicle?
true,i had before i bought the nissan an old Jeep TJ which i loved even if it was a disgusting car,it broke 5 times in an year but i loved it cause in it you still felt that it wants to keep going. The only problem is that when i went to the dealer ship the hole car was broken.so i bought a nissan.
yeah Jeeps are cool (the offroad ones anyway) my friend has a '77 cherokee with a pickup bed and all this other stuff, its lifted way up and has these really huge mud tires, and its awesome watching him go mudding in it. It destroyed mud pits in 2wd where some offroad 4x4s were gettin stuck in 4wd
well, all pathfinders are good 4 off roading, the best 1's 4 off roading are the years 87-95 and the newest models. i had a 95 pathfinder and i loved it and it was great off road and there was no plastic body parts. i had 2 get rid of it this year tho cuz it got into a bad accident =[
sorry to hear about your Pathy. I like Pathfinders because of there offroad capabilities and there similarity to the 4Runner (my fav. SUV). Those good old trucks actually have sport and utility, these new crossovers have neither.
Thanks, actually I had to sell it....But it had a Flowmaster 40 and a high flow cat. The brush guard was factory. You can find the brush guards in junk yards or look up Smittybilt online.
I have always sayd that the best offroad is a mercedes Gwagen. however yesterday I went ofroading with a friend with an older pathfinder and he goes anywhere without any problems. either the pathfinder is very good or my friend is a very good driver. maybe both!
Your front is an independant suspension Nissan R200A and your rear is a solid Hitachi H233B. Depending on your year and model you might have a stock LSD in the rear differential (look for a red sticker on the carrier.) Both axles are either 4.3 or 4.6 ratio and you can determine that by checking the option plate on the passenger sidewall under the hood. Hope I helped
Cranked the torsion bars for a few inches in the front, aftermarket upper control arms, rancho shocks, Jeep Grand Cherokee front coil springs were installed in the rear for a few inches of lift....pretty cheap but functional.

Geez, that H2O can't be good for the muffler, exhaust,
motor, etc, not to mention electric wiring for headlights!
I guess I won't know till I buy my own, (within 1 month)!

NAAAH....These older Pathfinders will take a serious beating.....these tiny puddles are nothing.....we were just playing around.
