  • USA is a sick nation, and it produces sick people. Of course there are exceptions, but unfortunately they are rare

  • Daido Roshi is an enigmatic and powerful Teacher. His devotion and commitment to Zen are remarkable. He passed away but he is not dead. Maybe too much understanding tires head, simple don't know mind is better, but he took good rebirth, I hope. Everything is OK, but I can say: put it all down Mr. Daido, don't make " Zen " !!! I have apple juice here and a mango fruit. I am giving them to you, free of charge. Just eat and drink. Relax. That's all.

  • Looks like a wonderful serene place. I will visit soon. Thank you for sharing.

  • I am not part of the Zen tradition, but of the Mahayana tradition. Though it is very interesting how Zen has spread into the U.S.A.

Zen is a great teaching. May the monastery last for many more decades.

  • I may consider going to ZMM and ordain. I am going to build my own monastery when I get older. This is a great place it seems. Great work I say!

  • @MrTamimisa actually it is not bullshit, I used to believe so too. Until I learned otherwise. You can see it like this instead; to lose the idea of self, is to understand how much everything around you is a condition of you. But whatever, if u think it's bullshit, that's fine ofcourse. But there is a whole lot more bullshit that is very accepted in our culture, in a frightening way. Think how nice it would be if all people were as openminded and "dont give a shit"-minded as Zen Buddhists are. ^^

  • We removed Mr Tamimisa's comments after reading some of the other comments he has posted on YouTube. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but hateful and denigrating language is uncalled for.

  • @dharmacom oh, okey

  • robes, gongs, all very cool but a little bit useless maybe. fantastic to make art using the principles of zen. incredibly beautiful work and some very good teachers like Daido, i wouldve liked to hear him speak.

  • @yacket,

compared to other schools of buddhism practiced in the west, the Zen Mountain Monastery keeps its pretty low key. I just got back from a retreat there over the weekend and I actually miss the bells and gongs. Its a very wonderful experience.

  • Americans....always want to be bigger and better...lol

  • I'm sure, they 'think' that they are doing

    good;,

American Buddhist's are in some ways

worse, than American's attracted to all

    of the 'religious beliefs'.

The emperor, difinitely has no 'clothes'

    here!

  • @fntime zen is not religion.

  • NO FOOLING!

    "Those who know, don't talk!"

    Those who talk, don't know!

  • a great Zen monastery

  • Master Daido Loori Roshi has passed away, as of today. I hope his students continue his teachings and that ZMM continues to flourish.

  • Wow, beautiful. Is the zen mountain center from the soto zen, rinzai zen or the new western white plum asanga?

  • I believe Daido Roshi is a lineage holder in both the rinzai and soto schools. Its the Mountains and Rivers order. His teacher was Maezumi Roshi.

  • Thankyou so much indeed for posting this great video

  • Great video! Love you grandpa and Rachael!

  • Boy this brings back memories. Great memories It is like looking at a photo album. Kudos to all who worked on this.
