  • those are two ugly ass girls but nice song

  • Wow i feel thirty years younger just listening to this Funky Music , where did Time go ! Yes the new stuff they call Music Today is just spinning its wheels .

  • Gene Orloff`s Chic Strings.

  • It' s soooo sophisticated. I love my 12" vinyl to death

  • Gangbanging doing TIC Killing KKing's and Gaylords. Stave street Maniac Latin Hoods 1977 Chi-Town

  • damn, did they get Mr. Mark (rip) to play that bassline? cause if not they straight jacked him.

  • @777yrogerg It's "Watching You" it's the same bassline.

  • @gtb327

I'm not sure that you realise which came first! I'm watching you is a great 83 tune!

  • @mevtrop For the record, no pun intended, "Watching You" by Slave was released in 1980. This copy, "Inside Out" which was also produced by Slave, was released in 1982.

  • I remember exactly where i was when i first heard this killer tune .. terribly underated track .. click our name 2 hear some good modern soul

  • when i hear this it makes me want to sell up and go to ibiza forever and play this every morning when i wake looking over the sea.................come on 5 and the bonus

  • i thought of 'watching you' as well!

  • This song brings back so many memories of my teen-age years, and my coming to terms with my sexuality. More than that, it brings back memories of my first love. When I'm 80 years old, I'll sit back and think of this song.

  • Hi I'm Clive from England, This brings back so many memories to me of when I was burning up the dance floor...wow wow wow mate's.

  • such an inspiration great music back then. what happen to the music today? "kill ya mama kill you dada sex sex sex f this f that".

  • Thanks for sharing this...

  • Beautiful song. . .I have missed it terribly.

  • @DaOrigTruthSeeker. True. I say it all the time just like you said. I find myself going back pulling up music from the past I didn't too much care for or overlooked back in the day and it always blows today's best away. Although not the case here for me, I LOVE this old school joint...always have. I am just saying I agree with your comment about the crap they are putting out today.

  • Steve Arrington of Slave was the writer of this song for Odyssey. Classic funk/thump :o)

  • @net43works Sounds like it can be mixed with "Watching You".

  • @sexyssilverfox This song is BASED on "Watching You"! It is built on the EXACT bassline of Wtching You...

  • @sexyssilverfox it can be mixed with it

  • who had this beat first odessey or slave?

  • @sinfulhair1 Slave!

  • @sinfulhair1 slave

  • erm...all comments seem to be from Americans...well, I'm English, but I'll try & join in. Here goes; Hey dude, I dig this shit... man... (How was that?)

  • @MultiMrPhill Not a bad attempt at the slang. The only issue I can see is the use of "Dude" and "Man" in the same sentence. They are very seldom used in the same phrase. Proper - "Man, I dig this shit!" or "Dude, I dig this shit!"

  • @TommyD1906 hahahah ! they tried..

  • @marla1477: Yea, I am a major music afficianado. Lifelong househead, I grew up on rick james, the isley bros, parliment p-funk, james brown etc, Si I love it all, disco as well as 70s and 80s funk and soul will always have a special place in my heart. Now Im all about freestyle, deep house music, rock, glam and metal too. I love it all but for me it all started w/ disco!! Big Up!!

  • i live for the 12 inch single

  • good music here.

  • This song was written by claymore weilding, kilted, helmet wearing Scotsman, Jesse Rae - get down! :)

  • Love it!!!!!!! Sounds like New York. I can see myself strutting down the street, yeah baby.

  • WOOOOWWWW !!!! This Track Kept Hope In My Heart for my Luv !!!

  • classic jam!!!!!

  • this was sampled for a DJ Quik produced track...inside out...he appreciates this music...otherwise he wouldn't have sampled it! This song is sweet, love originals (even tho it sounds like ''watching you'' :P)

  • That sounds like SLAVE's Watching you.

  • @Rodrickzx both were produced by Jimmy Douglass, that is why

  • @Rodrickzx Me too.

  • one of the few funk songs that uses full classical orchestration

  • Funny thing...this is the same song as "Watching You." This producer double dipped and got 2 hits from one SLAMMIN' beat. I didn't notice as a kid, we just loved both...of course the slave version is better—better story, better vocals!

  • funny reactions on this song but it is still one of the true classics - Just great !

  • Just amazing, everything about ths song says "CLASS, IT'S AN ALLTIME CLASSIC". The bassline still gets me today and I still wonder how it was played. Its just an awesome track, and yeah, I'm still learning the bassline..

  • RIP Mark "Han Solo" Adams, only you can make a bass talk like that!!!

  • @ltinsley2 Now I know who played this amazing bassline....

  • @ltinsley2 Mr. Mark Adams had the faaaaatest bass sound around. Love ya, Hansolor!

  • @kax61 Who played bass in this song has been under debate for years: Sandy Anderson or the late Mark Adams. But rumor has it that it was Sandy Anderson. If it was Anderson, he has gotten Adams' style down to the Tee!

  • @MrMallymal68 I think it was Mark. If not him it was someone associated with Slave. The bassline to Inside Out is similar to Watching You.

  • @jmadtoyou I agree sounds like it very much.....

  • @jmadtoyou :Wow, I would have never noticed that! LOL BTW it was Sandy Anderson:

    h t t p://w w w .talkbass.com/forum/f19/sandy-anderson-788720/

  • @kax61 indeed he did. one of the best! that brother could GROOVE a song ta death!!!

  • This song was all that back in 1982.

  • Bass is slammin'!!

  • What a great song to uplift my spirits

  • another classic!

  • Yeeeeeeeees! Hit the floor music! Long live the New York Hustle!

  • Walking down the street watching ladies go by.. watching you!

  • thx baltimoreman78, I tht, your right.

  • 'I first heard this on the break-up of a relationship. Indelibly marked my consciousness for all time.

  • odyssey woow nice take me bbbbaaaaack~!

  • This is real - bring back the funk - bring back the musicians.

  • @SuperBalloon1 - The musicians haven't really "gone" anywhere, you have a ton of good ones for example in the jazz community, it's just that music like this isn't the "flavor of the today" so they're underground.

  • IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FEARLESS LEADER FROM SLAVE MADE THIS TRACK!

  • great tune - many thanks

  • hot damn1

  • This is not one of my favorite old school jams...but anything is better then the crap they are putting out today. Even the not so hot music from back in the 70s,80s and 90s sounds better then the best they got today.

  • Takes me way back to kindergarten where thr music was real. One of my fav dance tracks.

  • memories of 1982

  • Great song anyway. "Mr Mark" Adams on bass is a delicious bonus.

He`s given more of a free reign on THIS rather than "Watching You".

Much missed, Mark,RIP. WHAT A LEGACY!!!

  • @redmanthinks Although it sounds a lot like Mr Mark , Sandy Anderson played on this cut.

  • YEEEESSSSSS!! Inside Out!!

  • @sweetnessnbk WORD!! This song was the joint WBLS NYC!!

  • @coachsoop what you mean "WAS" the joint? This shit is STILL the jam! First time I heard it it came on WBLS it was a late sat night and I heard this jam come on and yo this shit made me jump up, throw some gear on and bounce to the club!!! No one spins the old school jams Like WBLS Quiet Storm!! NYC IN THE BUILDING ALL DAY!!!

  • @Nyhousedancer7 could that club be; The World or Bentley's, could it be The Red Parrot, the Latin Quarters... maybe you travelled over to S.Orange NJ to Club 88.... lol...cause you sound like a real music affecionado'.. 80's music still had elements of disco.. which we know evolved into House/Club

  • @Nyhousedancer7 , Hey, I can relate, in Chi-town it's 102.7 fm, PEACE.

  • @Nyhousedancer7 WBLS ALL DAY!!!

  • Waloking down the street watchin ladys...

  • you people are sooo stupid. claim to know it all and be eperts but post false and incorrect information. get it right or dont post at all

  • That's when music was music!! This shit today is for the Birds!!

  • Emeryville, Sf, your in my hood cnote4461, no doubt this a beat

  • slave did not produce "inside out" you stupid a-holes!!!! you people who post comments should get yopur knowledge and facts right

  • @donkeydick11 Inside out, was produced, ghost written by Steve, Arrington of Slave. It also features, the same musicians that played on Slave's, "Watching You", including the bass player. I have been D.J', for the last 25 years and most of us who have been doing it, know this as fact.

  • Pure FUNK.

  • wow such a great song and beautifull voice. Love this

  • you have 2 turn from the Inside ..and share Out..4 others to really feel..and be moved, you can also just close your eyes and express, with a smile on your face, on the dance floor ..That's how we connect..when loving a groove "Like" this.

  • Beautiful!!!

Sorry to tell you, but the name of the song is "Inside Out" - Just look at the album cover in the pic that plays with the tune!

  • @Muskerry9 Slave - Watching You, uses the same riff as this Odyssey tune, this is what baltimorman78 is talking about.
