  • Thank you!

This is my favorite James Horner score.

  • Lyrical Corrections and meaning

    Recordare iudex est venturus

    cuncta cuncta stricte discussurus

(Remember all the judge is to come discuss all strictly)

    *End of Sentence One*

  • Seriously saddest ending iv ever seen in any movie:'(

  • Well I don't think that many Black folks truly care for this film that live in the inner cities. That's a piss poor shame. Now they are killing everything like nothing.

  • OUTSTANDING!

  • Haha! This is funny because the picture you used is on my social studies book. Great song!

  • @Narwhalstar13, why is that funny? It's a pretty commonly known picture.

  • @Dauntless07 It is funny because this year we watched the movie glory in social studies. It's funny to find them in the same place

  • EPIC!

  • Nice job on this. That took some work for a person not familiar with Latin. It's almost a labor of love, really.

  • @ScottBrenner1 Thank you. :)

  • The 2 viewers who disliked this will be charged by the 54th!

  • (Continuation 2) Scattered [before thee?]; free me, before your Throne

All are scattered, free me, free me, Knowing me [completely]

    Great Trembling then will be

    When the Judge has come

    To examine all before Him!

  • @emmthreejonny thank you! I think I will add this translation to the video once I have time. :)

  • (Continuation 1) The Written Record will be brought forward In which all deeds of the world are contained. Therefore when the judge sits [in judgement], All the appear before Him, none will be exempt. The trumpet will call me forth When The Judge descends to gather all. The remainder, each one, The remainder, each one, Judged only when He sits To examine each and every one!
  • Translation Remember The Judge will descend from Heaven All, All will be closely judged (examined) The trumpet trembles and shakes when The Judge closely judges! The remainder will be shaken when He has descended upon us! The trumpet will send its wondrous sound Amongst all the world's sepulchers To gather all.
  • The main idea is the judge for all of us (white, blacks, yellows, women, men, west side, east side, etc, etc,). God (Crist) will come to the Earth and execute your Judge without exception...

  • The general idea of the song is that a judge, most likly god, has made it his will that this side is victorious. I also meantions a large crowd is stiring, which I believe is referance to an army. Its like a deaus vult type of song. God wills it that this side be victorious and than the army stirs and wins the day.

  • @GrayEyesWorld My idea was kinda the same. I take it to be a song that's saying this is the judgment day for all, men and cause on both sides, in which God (?) is watching.

  • @TaichouInkei something along those lines, either way its still a song about some kind of battle.

  • I find the Latin in this song terrible. It is nothing more than placing some words to form something which might sound well, even filling it up with non-existing words (according to the lyrics)!

It dishonours the real Dies Irae. A shame!

  • @LordMV93 So what? This song is beautiful

  • @ViccardXViccc If one decides to write a song in a certain language, or tries to use an existing text for his song, he should use that language correctly. The comment says the lyrics are "pretty much copied/pasted from Dies Irae", so why would one choose then to change the copy's words into meaning nothing. By doing that, I think he made the song both amateuristic, for he shows by doing so that he uses 'words' without knowing its meaning, as well as an offence to the Dies Irae. Thus I think.

  • @LordMV93 what do the lyrics say?

  • @moa373 from my limited latin knoledge, It says It has been recorded The judge has decided I don't know this line unfortunatly, but something about strictness a large crowd is stiring something about searching I believe The judge strictly adheres to his decision unknown something stirs After this it gets nearly impossiable to translate anything because they have acctualy added some made up latin word (or possiably medeval additions that i do not know about) also the grammer is bad.
  • @GrayEyesWorld yes.... :P

  • @GrayEyesWorld I know what you mean. I initially tried to do a line-by-line translation for English and gave it up as hopeless. It's a song of an Apocalyptic Judgment Day, with the souls of the dead awoken by (presumably angels) blowing horns (tuba) that shake the Earth (tremor). I am going to attempt an overlay of English, but if I attempted word-for-word translation, I think the results would turn out pretty bad! :D

  • @Tsarevna303 good luck man, very rarly do I find a song in latin that can acctualy be translated well.

  • I love this piece of music from one of my all-time favorite movies. Thank you for posting this with the lyrics. I'd always wanted to know what they were.
