Some people take it to far and some people base spanking on their moods but if a parent is consitant normally kids who get a swat will listen after the first few times. I actually find parents who use spanking correctly few and far between. Of the people who are spanked wrong some are emotionally hurt by it. Also I think swating is only like 3-7 after that your child should be able to be reasoned with. I don't think swats should hurt that bad or leave a mark or anything. Just enough to get the childs attention and then you should speak to the child about what they did.

spanking your child is discipline. if you don't don't spank them, they'll most likely become spoiled brats. i know i'm one of the youngest people that watch you, but i agree. plus, if you don't acknowledge when your child is being good or bad, they won't learn a lesson from it. congratulating your child on something good, with maybe something as simple as letting them choose what the family will eat for dinner the next day, will make your child realize they will get a reward for being good.

I was hit when I was little cuz I did a lot of bad things, and now I'm not angry at my parents for that, I actually thank them because now I'm a good young adult! ;D Plus I don't blame them, I would of done the same thing. If a person doesn't experience pain, later on they won't be scared and they'll probably do stupid and bad things, cuz they won't know what it's like to be hurt and they might not even be able to tell good from bad.
