I just realized that the German/Japanese/Mallorcan girl in my archaeology class is this man's daughter. I hope she appreciates how awesome her Dad is...
this kind of songs teach us what music really means.behind the notes and the voice there's hidden a true essence of paradise in which you travel in the blink of an eye in places that only your soul knows where to be found..and there is that you find answers and trully discover yourself a bit more..thanks for the wonderful trip..
When I was a young woman, I would stand or kneel in front of a window, inspired by nature and heart, and sing ancient and foreign songs such as japanese, chinese, turkish, arabian, irish, welsh, etc. and not know what the meaning was except for the meaning in my longing heart...i too wanted to know his meaning but realized it is best left untainted by the intellect for it is a thing of the soul.....
I was introduced to his music by a good friend in 1998......this particular piece "to the evening child" is one of my favorites......there's so much aesthetically pleasing to the heart-mind as it pitches deep into the ethereal recesses of one's hovering soul...taken back to an ancient time when and life was savoured intensely and in full reverie of its creator....beauty&grace is what filters through...may it continue to be a comfort to all who hold the Light through the hours of the night..
Stephan is a true and clear channel from the Grace of God. There is no other way to describe the gifts of which spirit bestowed to him in order to deliver the great healing messages so needing to be heard, especially now. I understand every word he sings. It's my language.
Singing or speaking in this way liberates. The "words" become the language and song of our essential nature which yearns to "speak" its own language and say what is wanted to be said, without conscious mind getting in the way. As I pray this way, out loud, for awhile, and stop, then pray in my language, English, the words become dead, stilted and inadequate. I first did this in workshops in the 70's where we spoke with each other, and said what "we really wanted to say". It was exhilarating.
@cyviloo The words stephan micus sing don't carry any known meaning, what's known as gibberish, i believe that this way he can express himself and deliver true emotions and ideas more freely then with any other defined words...
@cyviloo Regarding to stephan's singing in "gibberish" you can read about it on some of his album covers ("wings over water" for example), and yes i do think that many defined words have so many associations attached to them that they have lost much of there true "pure" meaning, gibberish is clean in that sense, it's more abstract which is suitable to some (rare) musicians, and it transcends boundarys of language and culture, all the best.
@elishlomo I think it is also known by some as "Toning" or "Sounding. And others as "speaking in tongues" or allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through them. I personally think it is a fun, creative way to play with sounds in much the same way we are creative with paint, dance or musical instruments, as in Jamming. That way we do not have to be locked into the rigidity of words. "Gibberish" carries a negative connotation for me.
Realy interesting and correct analogys, for me the way Stephan Micus himself describes it "the words don't carry any known meaning" is the best way to put it, i used the term "Gibberish" only because its more known. i think that Stephan using his "words" so well and with such intention that i actually feel i understand him, of course its the music as well as the singing that delivers the essence and the meaning of the piece, Stephan is a master in buth and in combining them into a masterpiece.

gerçekten insanı derinden etkileyen oldukça çarpıcı sözlerle süslenmiş bir parça. stephan micus gerçek bir sanatcı.
yorumlarda oldukça güzel. duruşu ve yorumuyla gerçek bir sanatcı nasıl olur? bence buna iyi bir örnek.
