Nice walk cycle. Are you going to put out a tutorial for walk cycles? I've been working on cut out characters for a while and I am ready to do walk cycles and such. I'd love to get some advice from a pro!
thanks for the info! : ). one last thing which one contains the disks? is it the all in one toon boom animation studio or the express. really really sorry to bother u.
I bought Studio. When you buy it you get the option to have the discs sent to you. I presume its the same if you buy express. Drop them an email just incase. Thanks.
All animation if done well is fantastic. There are some really great flash animators out there. Full hand drawn does have a special magic though. Disney are bringing out a new hand drawn feature soon.
its very unfair to say such things about flash animations kuso these people put just as much soul, time and effort into them and it's no different from hand drawn animations.
Hello Jon, nice video. I've been considering purchasing toon boom to create animation for e-learning courses. Beginner to computer animation though. Is this a good software to start with, or do you recommend something else? Dan
For the price you can't really get much better. It has all the functions you need for basic or advanced animation. I would recommend buying the manual which you have to buy separately but well worth it. There is a free trial you can download.
Hello. The main reason I haven't made any tutorials is that I don't have any screen capture software. Talking through instructions isn't very exciting. One day maybe.
If you want to animate then don't let drawing ability stop you. It is very important that you work on your drawing skills but with programs like Toon Boom you can create good looking animations very quickly. Its a lot to do with timing and structure. Keep going, it gets easier.
Practicing is the best way. There are some great books out there like Richard Williams Animators survival kit. Copy other peoples drawings (for practice only), download small audio clips and animate a character to the voice. Small projects help.
Hi Jon - thanks for the vlogs! I'm considering toonboom...I have digicel flipbook but I like the idea of not drawing a million pictures, and "slicing and rotating" the body parts. My animations so far were just done with MoNkeyJam and my webcam.
Looks like your views are WELL over 50, now! congratulations, sir!
I tried toon boom studio, i didnt like it. Now i use after effects. i know after effects isnt mainly an animation program, but it seems to have all the same features that other animation programs have and many more. all the animation videos on my channel were done in after effects, except for one with a rabbit, that was toon boom.
Hello, thanks for your comment. I have used affect effects a bit and its on my hit list to learn, along with a few other programs. I will check out your films.
I think you will find that a combination of cut out and multiple cel techniques work very well together and really open up the ToonBoom software. Once an element is locked into the peg, you can flip cels as you please. A note. As you draw an element, if it is going to off axis rotate or turn (like an eye element on a head that turns) draw all the cels on the axis they will be on using the light table. It will save you realignment time later.
Hey, thanks for your comment. Flash is easy to use but isn't really designed to create braodcast animation. Toon boom is designed for animators and has a lot more features that Flash is missing. Try some of the downloadable tutorials, they are great. Keep going. All the best. Jon.
Please watch my Toon Boom Animation called Board Breaker, if you want.

There are some online tutorials on the Toon Boom website and youtube channel. What type of movements are you trying to create?
