Archer fish are schooling fish, if you have 2 of them on will become dominant and kill the other or bully them to death at least, schooling fish must be kept in groups of 4 or more
how did you get your tank SG at 1.005. Did you start off by mixing the marine salt in a 5 gal bucket measure it until it read 1.005 in the bucket? Or, measured it in the tank until it reach 1.005 in the tank? I'm asking because I have a 29 gal that's cycling w/o fish and I'm thinking of owning just one GSpuffer. I know that they are BW and my LFP keeps them in FW. I think I need to acclimated first at .002 SG weekly or every two weeks. Do i lead it read .002 SG in the bucket or tank? thanks
@redstarmode brackish is when salt and freshwater mix to make a less saltier form of saltwater or a more saltier form of freshwater haha either way it has a salt measurement of about 1.008 and salt is at 1.025 on a hydrometer. (fresh is 1.000)
why did u call jerseykid a dumbass if u dont even know what brackish water is? you friend, are the dumb ass... and yes i am aware there is no arowana in the tank it is an archer but dont be mean just because he dosent know something jeeze by the way brackish water means mix of salt and fresh water *dumbass*
Gosh dont listen to him he is mad for some reason Brackish is half salt and half fresh some fish start in fresh then grow up and need more and more salt in there tank just like green spotted puffers. For example when they get bigger longer they will need some more salt, but again some fish only need a sertain salinity level and stay there for the rest of there lifes.
Where in the world did you find green chromide? It took me forever to find orange chromide out here (in California) I know that someone has currently successfully bred some Canarensis up in Oregon, but no one seems to be keeping Etroplus Suratensis down here. Awesome tank though i'd have to say. I actually have an Archer that i'm keeping in Freshwater it seems to be doing great. I'm just not sure which species. It looks somewhat similar to yours but has different spot pattern
as fro adding the salt. yeah instant ocean works great. mix in 1/4-1/2 the ammoun listed fro SW on the bag. and add that SLOWLY when doing your water change.
i love archer fish!! just a question... how do i make my tank brackish for my green spotted puffer? just add regular sea salt in there slowly... or should i buy special salt from a fish store? plz respond!
I use salt rocks or ocean salt but with brackish water aquarium you don't need to worry about getting the salinity spot on. Brackish water fish swim up and down tidal rivers so salinity is always changing. I'd only get specific if i had some sort of disease or fungus in the tank.
The other fish in the take with stripes is the Archocentrus nigrofasciatus (Convict Cichlid). Also, the puffer is a figure 8. They're NO WHERE near as aggressive as the GSP (Green Spotted Puffer) in which you're used to seeing. The GSP will kill any tankmate, even given an adequate tank size.
dude, there is no way that this is a Convict Cichlid. If it was the other fish in your tank would have been long gone with a big hole in the soil replacing them, plus I;m not familier with the fact that zebra convict uniform can live in a brackish water. he needs soft, low p.hed, fresh only water. it dose look something bitween a chichlid and some sort of an empror fish..
BTW, I can now see that this is indeed the figure 8 and not the gsp, cool tank!
dude this is even more far out. Now Chichlids can handle a small amount of salt just like me and you can handle asmall amount of acid. Its possible but not necessary. I use salt on chichlids only in hursh fanguses.
The only chichlid I'm farmilier with that need brakish water is orange chromid
To me it looks like a Cichlasoma severum "green severum". From the shape and body stripes its very close. And there is no way that fish is a Archocentrus nigrofasciatus (Convict Cichlid) Coz it doesnt look like the one I have from my other tank. convicts has a distinct stripe shapes not like those in this tank. also have a brackish tank of my own check my video..also convicts doesn't live well in brackish water.

Your tank looks too much like a reef tank than a brackish water tank. Scats and Archers all come from brackish creeks and rivers not the reef. I'd look better with appropriate fish for the setup
Do you find your archers picking on each other? I have two in my tank and one is constantly harrassed by the other, of course it's just my luck to not have any more in the stores around my house to help ease the tension on him :(. I'll have video of my tank up soon.
I had 3 archers, one died mysteriously, and then the remaining 2 fought like dogs. I had to split them up and keep them alone.
If you want to talk about your fish, you should check out my site tropicalfishkeeper. com there are forums on there and I've got quite a bit of info on all my fish in all my tanks on there
wow you own that site? i go there all the time! thanks then, the info on there has helped me quite a few times! nice tank. Odd though, ive never had any trouble keeping archers. I myself have decent experience with brackish tanks, i have currently only one brackish 40 gal, one salt reef tank, one salt nano, and a freshwater african cichlid tank. Congrats again on your tank, and thx for the site!
@tropicalfishkeeper I keep 7 archers in my tank the odd time they chase eachother but mine always school up and hunt as a team maybe try a more malaysia type theme seems to keep em happiest also try redecorating the tank so it is not the same try re introducing in a bag first than in the tank and see what happens.
What species of gobies are these?

Nice, I have two brackish tanks, one is 350 litres and has bumblebee gobies, knight gobies, lots of mixed mollies and a pair of orange chromides.
My other one is 450L and has a few monos and scats, and I might add a few archers and a green chromide soon.

Idiot, Tropheus Moorii is the fucking fish in the god damn aquarium you asked about. If you want the fish, go look it up!
I hope to God you don't live in America, because if you do... you need to learn english! puta.

oh i know what kind of fish with the stripes. Its a Etroplus suratensis "Green chromide" and it lives in a brackish waters....shhiishh...

You are absolutely right. That cichlid is the Asian Etroplus suratensis (green chromide); it likes brackish water even more than its orange cousin.

I had corrected myself, it is Tropheus Moorii.
