Yes, the other dark-haired guy (Cameron Bancroft) was probably not as favoured as the infamous Saved By the Bell dude (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), because it would still be another year before Canadian Cameron would land a role on the original Beverly Hills 90210 with his buddy, Canadian Jason Priestley.

So Cameron was rather unknown at this time and was picked up for this movie because it was filmed here in Vancouver BC Canada, and

Canadian Cameron was right here and available for the part.

Of course Nancy obviously looked great, so skinny scary beautiful -- don't you love the angular projection of her collar bones, that is one clavicle to die for! You can see in great detail how her clavicle rotates on its axis when her sharp shoulders abduct, and gaze with awe upon her scapula scraping back and forth to and from her spine when she hugs someone.

If you look close you can even trace her lovely subcutaneous tissue. And yet...why aren't her legs as thin as her arms? Oh well...

You're right, she doesn't look underweight, and the mom's reaction is overly dramatic. Keep in mind that actresses had starved themselves to look anorexic in previous movies and had caught a lot of flak for it. The production companies don't want to be accused of triggering anyone or endangering an actress's health.

when your child has anorexia you can go into denial and try to act like nothing is wrong etc, her reaction is the reaction of alot of real life mothers.

my mothers reaction to my ED was ignoring it. She knew i was throwing up and not eating. i even left "evidence" everywhere but she never talked to me about it or made me stop.

At the time of the making of this film, Tracey Gold (Nancy) was recovering from Anorexia herself so she was pretty thin already, where she looks to be worse its special techniqued makeup.
