I'm wanting to make a curtain with tri-color RGB LEDs. The project would use LED 1440 RGB tri-color or 30 rows x 48 columns. I wish, if possible, you rode in on a project in this style and send the value of the total project and the necessary equipment apart. Remembering q I want just the design and components, for I will ride it right here, eg Matrix Driver, program, LED, resistor to connect the LEDs and an outline of how to connect the LEDs. My intention is to display images on the curtain.
Hi, mr.gavincurtis. I'm self-taught amateurs. After my successful experiments with 3d-led cubes wanted to do something unusual. came across a Spectrum Analyzer 10x10, but I want to do something more, please: share files and flash cards.I do not need source code (not know programming on a PIC)
Awesome work. Can you email me your contact details and the price of one of these in kit form please, and also the components i will need to add to the kit. I want one! (rip.sands(at)google mail.com)
@DvoroviiAS@DvoroviiAS Hi, Cost is 650 for a 32 band controller board core fully assembled; without the power supply or the LED arrays.. you will have to wire up a matrix of 512 LEDs of your choice.
Please understand this is a side hobby, not a money maker. Parts are expensive, good PCBs are expensive; time to compose the software, the time to put them together correctly. Just proud to show off the achievement. Not being greedy.
@gavincurtis ... sorry not in my current budget does not fit ... you have hands of gold, mmm ... This expression is not in the sense that you are greedy, but in the sense ... good job, that is a good hobby, anyone can begin to envy ... with kindness! :)

Nice job man!!! I've always wanted to build a large scale spectrum analyzer similar to yours. I concider myself to be fairly electronically intellegent, can you give me tips on how to build one? I just started to look into this subject, so any advice would be extremely helpful. Thanks -- Zac
How much would you charge for this? I want to install this in my Delorean as part of the custom stereo I am making. Will it run off the car battery or would I need an inverter for it. Let me know Dying to get it started.
@gavincurtis hey mate im pressume you made it yourself :)? very nice btw
i got one question though is it hard to do becasue i really would like to make a spectrum similar to your on my Corsair 600T can reply to my inbox since i wont find this again as im on a different pc :P
Very beutifull work. I am an audiophile and electronics/audio engineer. I would love to buy this in kit form. Please let me know when one will be available. I love the liquidness of the lights. They seem to be switching on and of very nicely. I guess that is because of the microprocessor. I would like to build an old school analyzer someday when I have time. I like Cartmans version of pokerface on South Park better! You can make good money selling these kits my friend.
@megaohmz it's not the processors (they are very important), but analog signal conditioning system at the front end makes it fluid. The 2 microprocessors interpret and post process the data, controlling switching and timing of the LED array.
woow i'm impressed , i want to make something like this , could you send me some information on how can i make one of this , even if it is not that cool and accurate than this, sorry for my english
@KayWal1981 Building up another 32 band analyzer unit for a customer right now. I will try and post a video of it visualizing AC/DC d.t. on youtube if copyright infringement does not block it.
@gavincurtis Wow. this is the best i'll seen. been looking for one of these for such a long time now. would you consider making one for me? plug and play.. send me a private message with the cost..
This thing reads far better than most high-priced pro equipment. Hats off, well done, an excellent job! You can see the male voice "ma-ma-ma-ma", then the kick drum sets in and contrary to what many people believe, it's no sub-low bass at all. Finally you can clearly spot Lady Gaga's voice at around 1-1.5 oct. above the male voice. Superb! Most devices are almost useless, this one I would buy right away. But I live in Germany :-) Cheers, keep up the good work and make your homies happy ;-)

I was just wondering if you have any kits made yet..I had wrote to like 6 months ago and you replied back saying it be awhile till you had anymore ready. I was wanting to install some of these in my car for a performance and sports car show and was would like to advertise/sponsor your kit. If you could get back to me, that would be great thanks.
where can i get one of this and can i order one from you? i need it smaller but can u create one for my car? email me at bryanmc1988@yahoo.com and let me know what we can work out i would like to get in contact with you and maybe get one build...
I have a car with lots speakers and subwoofers and everything, I would like to install one of this device to my car, because it is an exhibition car... Can I install this screen to my car, I mean, It is easy? Do you sell it?
I have two of your units, so I'm familiar with the basic operation of the 16-band unit. And I know that you are using 2 of the 16-band units. But how are you getting 32 discrete bands from two (maybe not identical) 16-band units?
Also, thanks for making the 16-band units strong enough to drive two displays. I took 4 8x8 Dot Matrix units to make a second driven 16x16 display.
@KayWal1981 Hi, Prototype is built into a conventional 8 inch tall steel rack mount enclosure. Front is tinted tempered glass to maximize contrast of the LED display.
Rear panel has servo balanced XLR, conventional unbalanced 1/4" and low level phono inputs, each with mirror outputs.
Don't take this as an insult (I'm an ignorant n00b to all of this, I ended up here by trying to find Phil Spector videos LOL) but how why the hell is a block of lights 3500 dollars?
I have seen many spectrum analyzers and most do not display accurate information... But I can see your spectrum analyzer is displaying the music information accurately (bass instruments moving the low frequencies, mid instruments moving the mid frequencies, treble instruments moving the treble frequencies) with detail. So you did something right... something most people are getting wrong.
Hey, That's pretty good. I have been using Creamware's TripleDAT 2.53 software which has a 64-band spectrum analyzer. I use that spectrum analyzer when mixing music... It takes the guess work out of how I should set the EQ-ing for each instrument and what volume I should set each instrument at. I also use the 64-band spectrum analyzer to make BOSS GT-10 patches. This world NEEDS an accurate 64-band spectrum analyzer... Maybe you can make one. I see your lights are bouncing accurately.
continued... I would suggest adding these features to make your spectrum analyzer more like the Creamware TripleDAT 2.53 software one I use. First make it 64-bands because 32-bands doesn't show enough information when trying to accurately mix or copy sounds. I could send you a photo of the Creamware spectrum analyzer so you can see what frequencies it displays.
@JamesLimborg I just don't know how to make it less than $1000. DSP is an option to minimize PCB space, but results are visually different. Then you have over 1000 LEDs and massive assembly time/cost. I just don't know how to make this affordable like you want.
@gavincurtis - Well... $1000 64-band spectrum analyzer is better than NONE available. Make one... And try selling it. I will help you advertise on my BOSS GT-10 patches webpage. Lots of guitarists are searching for a spectrum analyzer now that I have been making patches for the BOSS GT-10 guitar effects processor.
continued... Then change the colors of your lights (and maybe include more LED's to the height). The first 12 LED lights being green, next 8 LED lights yellow, top 11 lights being the color red. This is how the Creamware one is and it uses small square lights. Here are the 64-band frequencies Creamware displays: 25, 27, 30, 34, 38, 42, 47, 52, 58, 64, 72, 80, 89, 99, 110, 122, 136, 151, 168, 187, 208, 232, 258, 286, 319, 354, 394, 438, 487, 542, 603, 670, 745, 829, 921, 1K0, 1K1, 1K3, 1K4
continued... 1K6, 1K7, 1K9, 2K2, 2K4, 2K7, 3K0, 3K3, 3K7, 4K1, 4K5, 5K0, 5K6, 6K2, 6K9, 7K7, 8K6, 9K5, 10K6, 11K8, 13K1, 14K5, 16K2, 18K0, 20K0. The left axis has the labels starting on the bottom -55, -49, -40, -29, -18, -9 at the top... I assume they are dB measurements. The are 3 adjustments... one to set how low of dB to display, how high of dB to display, and a volume adjustment which I use often to make the lights sometimes peak in the red.
continued... If you search for James Limborg BOSS GT-10 patches you will find my webpage where I make BOSS GT-10 patches using my Creamware spectrum analyzer. I wish there was one available for Windows XP. Your design is real world... which is fine. If you could make a 64-band version that displays accurate information like the Creamware one I use... There are guitarists on my website that would love to buy a spectrum analyzer. You could sell it for $250 or $500 or even $1000.
for the 1st look you could have just have a bunch of VU meters with various high and low pass filters in the inputs. it would be a lot less complicated. but non the less exelent job!!!
Im looking for the kit that you mentioned for the 16 band Spektra kit but im not finding it anywhere on the internet. Do you think you can provide a link for it please? thanks
Consider putting a film of some sort over the LEDs so that you can't see each individual LED. Just thought that might look cool too although it looks great as is.
High frequencies burden the MP3 decoding process..... lot you cannot hear. RTA will show you what you need to remove or what your human ears should be really hearing.
@slimboyfat101 Wish I could say $130.00, but move the decimal point one place to the right. Marginal market interest at the expense, but fun to build.
@slimboyfat101 I designed this from ground up and built it. $1300.00 with 20% profit to me. Easily affordable by many. No other analyzer looks close to the same.
@gavincurtis That is, I designed this and sell as 16 band Spektra kits for people to assemble and enjoy. This is the complete 32 band machine with exception of the DC servo XLR input board shown.
Imagine composing the assembly books etc for this. Parts have to be top quality....
My challenge.... This is the best looking spectrum analyzer operating in real time. No Winamp on PC or Mac ported USB to make this work.... all on board real time processing using conventional analog audio inputs.
The LED's are high output blue with fresnel lens mounts. But found even better blue LEDs that have 120 degree dispersion and not overly bright when viewed directly in front. I have 10's of thousands of these wide dispersion LEDs in stock if you need any.
This is made from 2 of my Spektra kits linked together. So you can buy a 2nd one and link the two together to make this 32 band unit.
Dude, this is awesome - you're one heck of a clever guy! The response time and smoothness of this is TOP DRAW... I wish the one in my studio was this accurate lol
I know you said this was a hobby, but if I were you, I'd patent the thing and give LEDGlow a call. You may get to quit your day job.
Nicely done. I would be interested in purchasing one that is professionally produced and "plug & play" ready. Good luck.

good times of the day
if not hard to tell
how much do you sell this miracle?
is it possible to reduce the size so that I can set it to the panel in the car?
And the last question
which supports this frequency range? 15-20Hz support? 9kHz?
difficult, if not, write to the email (dvorovii@gmail.com)
PS. sorry for my mediocre English

@DvoroviiAS There is a small bar-graph display option. The actual display area is 2" X 14" and has 640 LEDs.
Lowest band is 15Hz and top band is 20kHz

I just don't know how to make this affordable like you want.
gavincurtis 11 months ago

@gavincurtis : thats why it is the best at least on youtube. but, seriously, it is really nice, i would buy it : )
Ni7ram 1 year ago
for the 1st look you could have just have a bunch of VU meters with various high and low pass filters in the inputs. it would be a lot less complicated. but non the less exelent job!!!

Im looking for the kit that you mentioned for the 16 band Spektra kit but im not finding it anywhere on the internet. Do you think you can provide a link for it please? thanks

@Halo66600 My 16 band kits are all sold out. I expect to have more ready by end of March.

Consider putting a film of some sort over the LEDs so that you can't see each individual LED. Just thought that might look cool too although it looks great as is.

reason for me asking is because i wanna put one on the wall of my room. or at least a giant vu meter on my wall.

High frequencies burden the MP3 decoding process..... lot you cannot hear. RTA will show you what you need to remove or what your human ears should be really hearing.

Hi!
Do you sell these?
How mutch would the whole piece cost incl Shipping to Sweden?
slimboyfat101 1 year ago
@slimboyfat101 Wish I could say $130.00, but move the decimal point one place to the right. Marginal market interest at the expense, but fun to build.
gavincurtis 1 year ago
@slimboyfat101 I designed this from ground up and built it. $1300.00 with 20% profit to me. Easily affordable by many. No other analyzer looks close to the same.
gavincurtis 1 year ago
@gavincurtis That is, I designed this and sell as 16 band Spektra kits for people to assemble and enjoy. This is the complete 32 band machine with exception of the DC servo XLR input board shown.
Imagine composing the assembly books etc for this. Parts have to be top quality....
My challenge.... This is the best looking spectrum analyzer operating in real time. No Winamp on PC or Mac ported USB to make this work.... all on board real time processing using conventional analog audio inputs.
gavincurtis 1 year ago
@gavincurtis same filter band systems as equipment from my 80's. But better... this is what I wanted to see in my boombox.
gavincurtis 1 year ago
How to make?
Tembuto 1 year ago
@tomjkwiz
