  • Even I played this when I was a kid!

  • This old intro makes me so nostalgic <3

  • u gotta LOVE namco collection volume 3. It has some of the best arcade games ever put on one disc.

  • Wow, I was expecting for you to actually play a straight up galaxian game with no other games on the PS1, and as I clicked on the link I thought about how there was Galaxian on the old Namco Museum game I had.

    Guess what I come across!

  • I like glaga 88 and glaga arrangement better than the original and this game is harder than them

  • Galaxian is badass, but Galaga is even better. Great review!

  • Playing games for the high score... You just dont see that anymore. :(

  • @bazfanv2 I agree, them games are fun as hell.

  • I used to think thethings on the top were umbrellas!LOL

  • i miss the old scool arcades i grew up with they were the best

  • i'll buy that on ebay where is that pac man chest

  • Greeting fellow Galaxians. Here are a few hints of acing this game:

1-Shoot an attacking ship when it's DIRECTLY PARELLED on your path.

2-Nail as many purple ones as you can because they are the most aggressive ones.

3-The game starts to get harder as you recieve your limited bonus ship, so, try to shoot only when they're attacking.

4-Try not to allow them to corner you at the bottom elevation...

  • The little ship you have in the game, reminds me of Spaceship from Star Trek.

  • @SakuraAvalon yeah it does look a little like it

  • I LOVE THIS GAME!! SPECIALLY THE SOUNDTRACK!!! :D

  • Ah, that's where the Baton Kaidos song came from when you're in the 2-D world... Kewl.

  • Nice vid! And fun & informative commentary...

1 sidenote @ 3:00 : it's not the game's accuracy that is poor, it's your aim i'm afraid - time it correctly and there's no need to miss! :P

(sry, had to!) no hard feelings, eh, chewlaxian? :)

May The 800s Be With You...

  • i have this game, i always loved the intro

    chewlaxian!

  • man dat cutscene in the beginning jus brought me back....i miss the playstation man

  • I was only 1 when Galaxian hit arcades.

  • Hard to believe its sequels are theater-style arcade games.

  • splendid it gets played a lot during the holidays with my brothers they are brilliant at it. I was lucky and found it perfectly free for my sony ps3 here 115 games (.) com there are thousands and the best thing is they are all free also I must say 1:23 was excellent

  • IM CHEWLAXIAN MOTHAFUCKA!

  • I remember I played this arcade in fall 1979, when I was in the 1st high school class, a bar near my school had one Galaxian game for more than three months and no need to say I spent a fortune playing it...a game like this was an attraction for all students, and after a couple of months the glorious Space Invaders game was simply a recall from the past...

  • also --

    CHEWLAXIAN = win.

  • This game was a revelation when I first saw it at Showbiz Pizza in 1979. (Good grief, that was thirty f'ing years ago. [shakes head])

The multicolor graphics, animation and sound were all way more intense than most games of the time. Galaxian raised the bar.

  • plasma guns like the use in star wars are very in accurate lol

  • I love this version of Namco Museum, it has pole Position II and DigDug on it too. God I love DigDug. I like Galaga better than Galaxian though.

  • That intro is freakish!

  • namco museum is epic

  • best games on the nes galaxian .. galaga ... batle tank

  • capcom ,namco ,konami the best

  • LOL! I had the original on my atari.

  • this is the game i grew up with (namco museum vol.3)

  • Haha your voice thru out this review - more nostalgia, was great.

It had a jaded, 'been there done that', dead tone to it.

I wonder what game would REALLY get you excited.

  • The sound of that Galaxian and everything...I can barely remember a part of that version of Galaxian as a mini-game during the LOADING screen at RIDGE RACER for PS1,and if you won,you could unlock all the cars from RIDGE RACER

  • Namco Museum Volume 3 was the first Playstation 1 game I got. I received it for Christmas with the console back in 1998. :)

  • What's not to like about the PS1?!!?!?!?!?

  • This must be the best version of the original. It is apparently true arcade with no "reprogramming" apart from the fact the score has been relocated to the side since the original game was made for vertical screen. So now we can all play it on horizontal TV in true arcade quality.

  • Galaxian good game. galaga cool game

    Galaxian 3 awesome game.

  • complicated games lol

  • ChewLaxian!!!

    yes!!

another stellar review Mark, thank you!!

paying homage to where games came from.

  • I used to be a whizz on this and Nintendo Sheriff.A 2 hour session on Galaxian for 10p was easy.

  • Watching this brings back sweet memories of hanging out at the arcade, there were several to choose from back then.

  • 5/5 for star wars rant

  • Would have been great if you had shown what they made out of that great game on the PS1?

  • by what the hell is it on the ps1?!

  • yeah there is no tacical advantage to those helmets. Unless maybe your working at a construction site. Anyway good review.

  • When you put Galaxian for the PS1, I thought you meant Galaxian 3, that 3D shooter with the massive cinema sized screen.

    No idea why.

  • haha nice. I really like Galaxian probably because it was on the Namco Museum and no one really ever talked about it. People just talk about Space Invaders (which is sick) and Galaga. So Galaxian really grew on me. I have Galaxian (2600) for my Atari 7800 now but I do miss playing it on my Namco Museum because it looked really nice! (no Xbox anymore).

And of course the Star Wars tie in is awesome. I can remember that scene like it happened yesterday :D Stupid Storm Troopers.

  • I always thought Galaxian was too much like Space Invaders until I played it's sequel. It wasn't until Galaga that I appreciated how much fun the enemy formations in these games are. Things like that are usually lost in later shoot em ups that focus on bullet patterns instead. If you like this classic style check out Verytex for the Megadrive. It wasn't released outside of Japan but it's a must for anyone who likes this style of enemy waves updated with power ups, acts, and end bosses.

  • "I think we're on to something"

Riight ... but don't quit dayjob though ... please... ? I'd really hate to lose these reviews :D

  • looks like galaga.....

  • That's because Galaga is Galaxian II.

  • Chewlxian? How do you come up with this stuff?

    It's pure genious :p

  • I think he was a little loaded when he recorded this. :)

  • Also known as 'classic game room style'

  • LOL agreed

  • Haha its great that you can tie just about any game with Star Wars. I really like GALAXIAN. But I was always more of a Galaga man myself. Awesome video man.

  • I have a serious question, what is with all the other weird videos on your account like the civil war stuff and all that??? You should make a seperate account with just the video game reviews.

  • We will be uploading the brand new Classic Game Room website soon to organize the videos and add forum, more info, sorting by system etc.... Inecom produces and has produced a wide variety of programming over the years. -CGRHD

  • cool, thanks for answering

  • those are other video published by Inecom

  • They'll all still be here but you'll be able to view in a more organized manner. You can chewlaxian to the max. -CGRHD

  • Hmmmm, chewlaxian...I gotta try that one day.
