im trying to get into this table and so far im liking what i see :P surprisingly this video isnt as dated as i thought it would be...williams knows how to do it right haha
I've played The Getaway in soooooo many places; specifically an arcade I worked at for 2 years in my early 20s.
It's my favourite machine of all time. My highest score ever was over 1.7 Billion.
They had it at my favourite pub too... and one time, a guy and a girl I know watched in awe as I played on 50 cents for over 2 hours. That was the day I first broke a billion.
On that game, I put it around the horn 14 times in a row.
I walked away from the machine with 10 credits accumulated.
The "Opto-magnetic" Supercharger is a neat piece of equipment - I really liked their implementation. They used this design again in the No Fear pin, but that ramp had one very annoying bug, that if a ball entered it slowly and fell back to the entry point, it would get stuck there as the machine tried to pulse it back up the ramp. Could only get it out again by tilting the machine.
I played this one for the first time today, and I'm mighty impressed. The operator didn't have the game leveled correctly, which affected play significantly, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it. I liked the gear-shifting aspect, and was impressed to no end by the Supercharger feature.
There was a Shrek pinball next to it, and I passed on that. (From what I heard, that and the Family Guy pinball have playfields which are structurally IDENTICAL. How unimaginative.)
I agree, strikerk. I have an F-14 and it's awesome! It was back in these days (mid-80s to early 90s) that WMS really had some awesome games, without having to pursue a licensed property. That's what they do nowadays at Stern, ugh.
I would love to see a HS3 and an F-14 followup....F-22 Raptor!
For my Wii I'm going to buy "Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection" -- it's amazing how many of those brilliant, enduring classics were from the mind of Steve Ritchie alone... Amazing!
I now have 3. Pinballs designed by Steve Ritchie, Wiliams Flash, Wiliams Black Knight, and Williams The Getaway.....

This is my all time favorite pinball machine.
The game has a great flow that more complicated pinballs like Addams Family and Twilight Zone (great games though they are) couldn't match.
The music, the rev counter, the gear shift and especially the supercharger add up to great fun.

Wow that last statement in this video lacked a lot of enthusiasm despite the message being conveyed.
This is my favorite pinball game. 1 quarter got me 10 games in a session (replays, specials, top score credit).

This is an excellent game. Good promo for it too.

Great machine. I had a car theme in mind when I was shopping for one and this was what I bought 11 years ago.
