  • You could say you oxidizing food by chewing and breathing at the Same time so eat Underwater.. I think it's a Load of Shit... Bless them for what they do. But why be so extreme one way or another. look at what gorilla's Eat. 50% Fruit and 50% Veg. nut and seed. Of course anytime you get People Off Shit and eating Fresh their gonna heal. But why tell people Fruit is bad. That's Just Ignorant. Mother Nature Designed Fruit to attract us.

  • I don't know the scientific belief or unbelief of oxidation. All I know is that I have been blending my fruits and vegies and have noticed an enormous change in my weight and the way I feel. It's great. Just curious about the way I clean the vegetables.

  • I blend more than juice because it's simple and quick. I certainly notice how much better I feel from green smoothies.

    I think juicing is more nutritious but that's probably based on intuition.

  • I agree with Dr. Clement. I think you need both and also a food processor. I use my Blendtec blender to make Almond and Hemp milk. I use my Hurom juicer to juice leafy greens, vegtables, and fruit. Both the blender and juicer are easy to use and clean-up quickly. Ease-of-use is important. My food processor is a hassle to use and hard to clean. It sits unused most of the time. I like to chew sprouts. It's easier and it's good to masticate some of your food, for heathy teeth and gums.

  • So.. if blended food isn't ok, how is juiced that much better? And he says if it goes for a minute or more... so does that mean I can blend for 20 seconds and it be okay?? I don't get it..

  • @dayingyang0 What makes you think a medical doctor knows science? Brian Clement did 30-40 years of research with MIT, they know science.

  • I think smoothies can be healthier than juices because with smoothies you can put the top superfoods from all around the world in there and thats much healthier than eating hybridized vegetable juice IMO. I think fiber has a purpose, with superfoods or wild foods there is so much more nutrition that fiber is actually a good thing. I also love drinking herbal teas and I use the top longevity herbs in the world and those are also healthier than hybridized vegetable juice from my experience.

Are you just accumulating all this information and hording it for the future when you are ready to put out a book? Just put it out there and let the people make their own decision. Is that how you think?

  • Last year, I juiced for a whole year with carrot/apple juice and Barley Max (easy to take to work)...then I quit for about six months...I felt like crap. I got tired of cleaning the Green Life juicer but now I'm back on the right track again. I take Sun Warrior Protein powder and Barley Max again. I'm getting that wonderful feeling of being healthy back again. I'm not going to quit again...ever!

  • During the last two years of her life I heard that Ann Wigmore ate nothing that wasn't blended...so I tend not to believe that it would destroy so many nutrients. Juice oxidizes more quickly than blended foods, according to Victoria Boutenko's info. And Ann W. had very dark hair, so she must have been getting what she needed!

  • @LifeRegenRevolution I think he does have science. He has the magazines he puts out, and the doctors who work at his center. An awareness is important. A blank statement that blending is bad or good doesn't work for me. It should be explained, detail for detail with each recipe why it's healthy or not.

  • @motoxbuddy I think he's 5 yrs older than U. Ur pic looks good. Is his 60th party in 3 yrs? Forty yrs doesnt prove it. Young men make business deals & acquire businesses of older ppl from x 2 x. Businesses' webpages count the yrs of each founding member & add it together 2 make a large number & clients mistake it 4 the younger being much older here and there. Wording is important. I do think he has lab documents tho as 2 his nutritional findings.

  • Complex carb can be misinterpreted in many different ways & fashions.

    Fiber is a complex carb.

    White bread is a complex carb.

    Therefore the word complex should not be used. I believe most people idolize micronutrients and neglect macronutrients. The vitamin & mineral component of the body weight less than a pound. The USA Diet is the nutritional revolution.

  • 90% of nutrients gone through blending... wow! 50% of nutrients gone minutes after you cut a cabbage! I try not to listen to these type of opinions bc whenever studies are done, there are so many variables, it is truly difficult to come to a conclusion about these things! I am going to continue to blend and drink my green juice! I know it is a huge contributor to my health.

  • I agree, he does look a bit unhealthy... but I would like to know how old he is. Because if he has been doing research for over 40 years, he must be in his 60s, so in that respect he still looks like a spring chicken ;)

  • I would not recommend a diet of seaweeds being a core food, we would then get way too much iodine.

    except in the winter. can't seem to stay into drinking smoothies during the winter. eat a lot more cooked grains then.

  • I make green juice in my blendtec every other day. The whole process takes 15 minutes from starting to chop things up to having a pint in a glass. Before that, I used my twin gear GreenStar juicer and it takes forever, I can't be bothered to spend 35-45 minutes making some juice and WASHING UP the 15+ pieces!

    The actual blending takes about 30-45 seconds and I can't believe the juice gets oxidised that badly, after all, that's what all the vitamins are meant to prevent ;)

  • i agree i juice on a greenstar and the juicing and cleanup is a minimum 30 min. i wish i bought the vitamix instead .

  • Why doesn't the process that makes the sprout juice, also kill off the nutrients like juicing/blending?

    Seems like if sprout juice is good for you, so would other juices, unless there is a difference in how you get sprout juice that is not the same.

  • I feel like it's just so hard to do all this at times. Sometimes it feels like you gotta be rich to do this stuff. It gets very frustrating. Sorry to sound negative, but just expressing feelings. Question ... How do you do sprouts? Do you grown your own? or just buy them or what?

  • actually your not negative.your not alone with the thourghts. soon it will be for only rich people-well it almost is. look up codex alimentarius. but dont give up! its about prioity. and you can sprout yourself. you can find easy ways here on youtube. (forgive me my spelling)

  • @greatbydesign33 you can grow yr own, and they are def. some of the most high value nutrition you can get. look into on google, use yr resources and inititive :)

  • Like he said about the cabbage losing it's vitality, I think that if you drink the blended drinks soon enough you won't lose very much out of it.

  • @msembu depending on the design type of the juicer some spin fast some are very slow .Yes the faster centifugal juicers cause more oxidation than the slower masticating types.Yes fibre helps to keep things moving through "the system" it depends on what you are aiming for.The theory here is to get the nutrients with minimum digestive effort.Juices also keep "the system" clean but in a differentway and on a different level.

  • Check out the Hurom juicer and Green Star Juicers. Those are the ones I know of. Those are about $350 and TheRawFoodWorld site on here talks about and sells both of them. Check their vids.  I have had cheap centrifuge, like the Juiceman and now I have a Solostar !! juicer which I paid almost $350 for. It is not a centrifuge, but a slow masticating/grinding juicer. The pulp is almost completely dry, so you get more juice out of your expensive produce....plus it never gets hot.

  • oxidation might happen on high rpm machines , juicer or blenders , think i seen a video on utube about how smothies oxidation is far less cause it still has all the fiber

  • apple turn brown pretty quick , try to blend some apple and juice some and see how long i ttake to go brown , maybe try some alvacado , they brown quick too

    juicing apples and blending apples and see which turns brown the fastest!

    victoria k did something similar with potatoes, but who eats raw potatoes!

  • I was blending veggies and fruit, but went to a lecture yesterday and was told I shouldn't blend. So I didn't blend today. I could hardly drink the my green smoothie. I think I'll go back to eating mainly salads and a little cooked foods. (:)

  • hmmm - I could have sworn I commented on this earlier, but I don't see my comment anywhere? Please clarify: when talking about percentage raw, do you mean percentage by calories or weight?

    I think Brian Clement says some wonderful things in this video. I like how he combines a positive, loving attitude with clear concepts and data.

  • Blending and Juicing are both good. Fruit is good. No fruit is good. The word good is a perspective word, based on point of view. Listen to your own body and find out what works best for you. Align yourself with nature as close as you can, and you will have outstanding heath!!!! This means fresh air, fresh water, exercise and sunlight too.

  • He does look like his hair is spray down tight with somthing? Can't be hairspray, cuz that is really toxic. He looks good for his age to me. Centrifuges do cause more harm than grinding juicers. Each juicer is different. My juicer is a triturator grinding style, The Juiceman and the Breville are centrifuges, which are proven to cause more harm to the juice and to release less juice from the pulp.

  • at least with blending you get the whole foods. Who can claim the the pulp from juicing has absolutely 0 nutrition in it? No way; so there are clearly drawbacks to juicing too. Juicing is ok for greens and vedge (I do want a juicer), but fruit should not be juiced IMO, too much sugar w/o its fiber

  • some of the things he says i dont really agree with. i heard him say that organic food at the store has almost no nutrients because of the depleted soil...? and blending doesnt harm THAT many nutrients i think. because nutrients are in cell walls and blending doesnt break cell walls cell are too small. i dont understand a lot of his beliefs. although i agree with no fruit and that a little cooked food is okay thats about it.

  • Didn't Anne Wgmore live on blended energy soup for years? I don't blend anythingl. I prefer to just eat big mixing bowl size salads, chewing them up the old fashioned way with my teeth and mixing with saliva. I have a $400 juicer I haven't used much because I would rather just drink water or herbal tea and eat my food instead of drink it, I am too lazy to clean the darned thing. I instinctively don't feel good on blended drinks. I never have liked them. A blender is a centrifuge.

  • I began this journey about a month ago and was juicing everyday. This last week I've been blending because it's much quicker and seems more substantial. I didnt feel energized enough from just juice, but I didn't know about superfoods or anything.

    What is your favorite superfood or "additive" for juice or smoothie?

  • putting this guy aside, I just don't think eating was ever meant to be thing insanely complicated. grow clean food, eat it, that's good enough.

  • He is 60. I met him at the raw spirit festival. His skin is impeccable, and he is built like an ox. Not to mention how patient he was to continue asking dozens of questions after he got off the stage.

    When all these people are giving percentages of cooked vs raw, what is that percentage based on? mass? calories? Number of bites or swallows?

  • Every once in a while I'll make a green smoothie.. but I find it easier to just take shots of juiced greens in 5 minutes rather than have to eat cups of smoothies for 30 minutes. I mostly juice my greens, and eat fruits whole.

  • This guy doesn't look very healthy. Pale, bags under eyes, ashy dry lips. Yikes.

  • and btw, he is not pale. The bad lighting using the camera is causing that. The camera is exposing for overall lighting. When a background is dark, skin tones will be overexposed.

  • I try to eat 2000 calories a day. 1 cup of sprouts has 30 calories. I would need to eat 66 cups or 6.9 Kg (15lbs) of sprout a day. I think I will stick to my fruit :)

  • I blend every day. I believe in what Brian says because I think he is of high integrity. But, what needs to be said is that if blending is the difference in eating healthy and not eating healthy, then one should blend their butt off!

  • he says blending for 1:30 to 2 minutes will destroy almost 90% of nutrients. Last time I checked whenever I blend up a green smoothie it's about 15 seconds.

    Too bad he doesn't talk about how juicing also oxidizes but why it isn't as destructive.

  • With a green star juicer you're not exposing the juice o oxygen except on the surface.

  • I just can't think of any reason why Brian would be anti blending if there wasn't a reason. The guy is in the business of making people healthy. Still use my blendtec all the time tho.

    I agree with blending. any thoughts on a food processor. I would think it would be a little better as long as you use it for several seconds

  • What are we doing when we chew the food? hmm. I've heard his point before, but it is not possible for most people to juice everyday and eat sprouts all day. I am very dedicated to this lifestyle but with 3 kids I feel good about continuing to blend our smoothies and juicing when I can. @stanzibritovsky buy the Vitamix!! I couldn't do raw without my Blendtec.

  • Leukocytosis has never been proven by any scientist since the 1930's. Why is that? Because there is no such thing and why would you hold onto scientific evidence that has never been replicated, and hold it as true.

  • Put that in your blending pipe and smoke it kevin, so after all this time of preaching blending, clement comes says its a bad habit cos it oxidises the nutrients super quick but i suspose how are you susposed to live, all clement seems to eat is sprouts and being so strick just isn't living to me.

  • Oxidised greens go brown, my green smoothies are green, and they make me feel fantastic! Oxidisation is insignificant when blending, it is no more or less than when juicing.

    To oxidise food, you need temperature, oxygen and time. Reduce anyone or more of these and you reduce oxidisation. Oxidisation in a 30 second blend will be insignificant!

    The reason juicing is better is that much more greens are used. Juice contains more nutrients for the volume because all the fibre has been discarded

  • I have to blend. I'm new to this, grew up a picky eater, white flour, white sugar, whole milk, etc. Sugar addict veggie hater. When I get around to the veggies, I have to blend with the fruit to even stomach them. =)

  • This doesnt seem to make sense. How can blending be any different than juicing. A juicer still crushes the food combining it with air. Im confused here.
