  • Wow!!

  • Would love to hear the sisters play piano trios. Love those 2 pics.

  • I think of my mother who died in 2000, she was born in 1919...

  • Amazing insight into a historical era. Thank you for posting this unique version and a great series of pictures.

  • Very touching...and some rare private photographs too...great job, thank you so much!

    Grtz, Aad

  • if you lived in new orleans

you always want to go back

  • Thank you for that. It's beautiful.

  • So heartfelt.

God bless these sisters of the south

  • Simply beautiful. This is YouTube at its best. Thank you for this touching tribute to the wonderful Boswell sisters.

  • Thank you Iwillcertainly contact my cousin Ellen Moffet about your website and recollections of theBoswells

  • My cousin I am sure will love this presentation whenI see her. She Remembers the Boswell's from her childhood. Her Daddy Dave Ringle arrange often for them and they frequently rehearsed in his RCA building Studio. Thanks for the hard work .

  • I too heard this in 'Snake Pit' and the woman who sang it in the film did a wonderful rendition:)

  • Makes me bawl ever time......

  • Goin' Home is one of my favorite ballads. I first heard it used in "The Snake Pit." Made me cry then and when these beautiful voices blended so wonderfully, tears formed again. Good night and thanks, HOOPINKY, whereever you are!!!!!

  • haunting

  • Yes,it is so.Dvorak's New World symphony#9, was loosely based (partly) on negro spirituals.Going home, happens to be just one of them.

  • Tiberius1919

The Boswell sisters were my love in 1932 and now too.How old am I ?

  • How old? At least part of you is still that smitten teenager who sat by the radio and listened to some of the best harmony ever sung. Thanks for your comment.

  • Well if the 1919 in your name is your birth year then my hat is off to you and hope that you keep going strong.

  • If I had been alive in 1932, they probably would have been my love, too.

  • This is beautiful, heavenly marvelous!

  • An excellent production/ thank you so much

  • Thanks so much for the pictures. It was obviously a lot of work on your part.

  • this is possibly the most beautiful vocal recording ever made. It brings tears everytime I listen to it. The Boswells were the absolute best vocal trio ever, but this is special.

  • Beautiful! Thanks so much.

  • SAD :( but pretty

  • Originallly Goin' Home is a negro-spiritual. Dvorak used it for his symphony "From The New World". Negro bass made this song famous; try to find his version. I want his version played on my funeral one day (I'm just 48 so I've got plenty of time I hope)

  • I'm glad you like the song, However, Goin' Home took the music from the New World Symphony and William Arms Fisher adapted it and added the words. While Dvorak said he was influence by the Negro and Native American music he heard while visiting America in the composition of this piece, I've never read that he adapted an existing melody in the creation of this movement.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • I love that song! Thanks for putting this up.
