You have to bike to train for 100,000 km (62,137miles) to be able to compete in Tour de France. (per Cadel Evans 2011 champion).
Since I bike to work about 30-40 miles a day, (depending on the route) , it would take me FIVE freaking years to reach that mileage in my bike.
But by that time... I am too old.

Top answer there from Cadel - 100,000km training is probably quite accurate, on top of the fact you'd need to be a naturally gifted athlete.....then maybe you'll win something...
