Prachtig gespeeld, dit raakt me echt. Zo muzikaal.
I told you, i needed your love very badly, and since there was no way of locking ourselves in, we had to part. And the parting was so sweet and bitter, i am here
amidst the bushes wondering what really happened, or did it all happen or was it just my imagination.
The instrument is remarkable! - As to playing too slow- He plays with the 'I'm so aristocratic and tired' style of Leonhardt... for better or worse. For my tastes it is boring- but sincere and warm of heart.
The harspichord sounds well but Bob van Asperen plays to slow. The lot of unnecassary trills make his playing not really better. J. S. Bach was no old and boring man when he wrote this composition. To hear this interpretation makes me sleepy
@broadwood1830 La acentuacion es correcta. El barroco es un estilo particular, no necesariamente debe ser muy rápido para llamar la atención. Hay partes rápidas como el bourre o gige y lentas como alemande y sarabande. La belleza está en el contraste. Luz vs, oscuridad. Nunca me duermo con Bach.
I suspect that Bach was 'unsatisfied' with more than what you (or he)mention. He was politic and decided not to go into a rave. The piano is an incredible instrument but so uncultured (with regards to soul) compared this sort of highly evolved Harpsichord that the comparision had to be unbearable for him.
It's no wonder that J.S. Bach had such a poor opinion of the piano after playing such brilliantly refined harpsichords as this. It would be at least another 75 years after Vater constructed this that the 5 pedal pianos of Dussek,Moscheles,& Field's day could offer a competitive sophistication of aestheticry tonally. Personally I feel that the piano has never fulfilled it's promise to successfully replace instruments like this. Not even the best German grand pianos 100 years ago sound so good.
Bach was unsatisfied by the poor action without any sensitivness of the fortepiano of Silbermann; their sound was even worst than their no-sensitiveness typical of percussive action that has no control over the string, unlike the strung action of cembalo, spinet, virginal, or the mechanical action of the organs that make feel the air under they key, or the tangent action of the clavichord.
The percussive mechanic of piano is only dynamic in contrast but not sensitive at all toward the string.

06:49 ? Nicht sehr respektvoll. Was hätte der Meister wohl selbst dazu gesagt?

Spellbinding performance on a lovely instrument. Great clarity of the multiple voices from the right hand in the Allemande.
