  • pino palidino

  • utterly wack

  • Not a fretless monster. This demo is monstrous fretless. Very ugly.

  • ROFL

  • He always plays the sames fucking riffs xD

  • yeah...that is kinda the role of the bass.

    Good,solid repeating rhythm.

    You didn't know this?

  • Damn, is he drunk or what?

  • The poor guys in the front row have to sit through all of this waffle.

  • he's a good example of a good fretless "rock bassist". if you want fretless "solo basists", see Michael Manring, Jeff Schmidt, etc...

  • @krustwell Don't forget Percy Jones, my friend. Kind of in the middle somewhere.

  • @krustwell

I agree!!! I can't understand all those "he ain't worth a cent" comments...cool down guys...TF worked with legends!!! Did they know less about his skills??? I don't think so..... ;-)

  • I would like to add Alvaro "Cliff" Castillo to that list of fretless solo bassists.

  • lame

  • it is...just a clinic people calm down!

  • now watch Michel Hatzigeorgiou

  • what a bunch of crap!

  • now watch Gary Willis..........

  • Yeah the master of the electric bass!

  • Almost boring!!!

  • Cool, the last minute or so was very soulful. Thanks Tony!

  • I would ask for my money back lol

  • likewise, just for this particular clinic though.......lol

  • what a sucker!

  • hes ive heard him in his band he is one of those far out there bass players very hard to grasp.good bass player

  • He is OK but man he is anoying

  • MAN FRETLESS BASS ROCKS!!!! this guy is a legend

  • hey, he's toodling!! haha ...

  • anybody that hates on anything on youtube is admitting that they can't do it! XP

go cry on your mothers' teets! this is the shit and if you were bored, let's see you make it better!

  • Fretless Bass at it's finest.

  • This guy has his own voice, he's very good.

  • Not trashing him, but..... he's not the most enjoyable to watch solo bassist.

That's not all there is to being a bassist though.

How does he fill in the pocket and support the song when playing with his band?

That is the true measure of a bassist.

  • These are very good questions and very good points. I agree tthat those traits are the things that most band leaders are looking for. But if you want a taste of how he fills the pocket and supports his bandmates you can find a few videos here on Youtube. Check out The Firm. Those songs really showcase Mr. Franklin's playing.

  • Don't forget Blue Murder....

  • To all the people who are trashing Tony Franklin.. go listen to Blue Murder, or The Firm and listen to how well his playing fits into actual songs (like craigdamage said). Just because he isn't playing the typical "shred" material doesn't mean he's not a great bassist.

He has great abilities, and I would argue that tasty bass lines are much more impressive than long show-off runs (this coming from a guy who plays and listens to a lot of shred guitar).

  • All you retards slamming this guy are pretty pathetic. Unlike most dreadful bass solos this guy is playing a decent sounding bass part that sounds as if it could actually FIT IN A SONG.

A drummer who can handle eastern rhythms and a guitarist tuned to open C-A-C-G-C-E would have a field day with that opening bassline.

  • if bass is this guys day job, hes gotta be petty poor

  • Man, you're saying a very serious shit. Do you know all the people this guy has played and recorded? Are you retard?

  • ive seen him at an swr clinic...and was blown away...hes played with guys like Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers, the only reason hes not as famous as them is that nobody really paid attention the them outside of Led Zeppelin and Bad Company...but if you are such a "bass pro" that you can condescend him then why haven't you been in a band with rock legends like them?

  • I find your comment very surprising. Tony's resume speaks for itself. If you are not a fan, then that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Who do you play with?

  • This is weak as hell

  • Interesting. Where's your video?

  • he is not a monster, very boring player

if you are looking for monsters

    try out gary willis,steve bailey

  • yes, monster...monsters arent beatiful...

  • No pussy Lined in frets!

  • How is that pussy. Seeing as most electric basses made have frets, rethink.

  • yawn.... goes on a bit doesn't it!

  • I know the guy in the crowd looks bored. Crap I would be bored listening to this guy wank for 7 minutes, what a show off. Not even that good.

  • Tony Franklin's good, but I think Jaco wouldve made a better "Fretless Monster" title.

  • OMG awesone tone

    SWR for president!

  • Thanks for telling me about it! I love it. Always up for these. And next time he plays a clinic over here, I am definitely going. Can't believe I didn't know earlier this year. GRRR. You are lucky. I miss that guy!

    Thank you again,

Maisie needs to go play some BASS.
