Good video, we have different approaches to teaching the same topic. I think that your graphics and camera positioning for this video was inventive and well thought out. Please look at my video on this topic and let me know what you think. It's much different than this.
learning the 2 pattern AFTER these is a lot easier i say. I had trouble trying to learn them all at once. Learning the same notes in more than one pattern at a time is kinda overwhelming. makes me cross eyed. get these three and the others are fill-in-the-blank. then practice just any Sabbath run and bingo..chain lighting.
i think 2 pattern must be learned-before going other patterns the student must play this 2 pattern on anywhere on the fretboard-step by step must be add the patterns- secondly minor scale is a mode on major scale-so major scale must be learned after that minor pattern is the same with major- i think you know the theory maybe well but you must think your students future! -]]]
The same concept applies to scales as to chords. You can apply the CAGED sequence to playing scales. In other words, it teaches you to not think of scales as five separate forms but as parts of a continuous whole. Once you grasp the concept described in the book you can now understand what your fingers are doing on the fretboard. Think of it as a road map to the whole fretboard. Here is the beauty of the whole thing. These concepts can be applied to any style of music.
I see you have discovered the wonderful world of scales. You should check out these books called Fretboard Logic. They are only about 35 pages each and there are three books in the series. It shows you the pattern organization of the fretboard. For example; there are five fundamentally different ways to play chords as fretboard forms as provided by the tuning of the guitar. These are C,A,G,E and D forms. This is the cornerstone of the fretboards pattern organization.

If I was to start playing guitar today for the first time, I would buy these books and a good dexterity exercise book. Then I would be set.
