  • what is the best rate for sorbitol - kno3?

i see a lot of vids with 65% kno3 and 35% sorbitol, but also some that say it the other way around

  • @spacekip38 6 parts KNO3

    5 parts sugar (cane)

    0.5 parts aluminum powder

    0.5 parts charcoal

    ballmill

  • hmmmm just thinking...... so explosive organic compounds work that way for being nitrated, so this is that carbonated organic compounds can do the same?

I havent really get to understand why a organic nitrated compound is explosive, i think its because the fast decomposition of the nitrated bond relasig NO2, a strong oxidizer. So you sugest carbonates can work the same?

  • anja! i got your little secret jajajaja

  • I'am not enough crazzy to breath my rocket smoke !!! I've already thought to add nitrocellulose or nitrosugar in my knsb but it takes long time to prepare and it could be dangerous to cook. The best oxidizer for my hobby is ammonium perchlorate but it's expensive and hard to obtain in europa. Did you try ammonium nitrate ?

  • Thank you for your ultra relevant remarks.

Ok I going to test it but before I would try knsb+Al+prussian blue to verify effect of aluminium on prussian blue. What do you think about Pb3O4 ?

  • Is it porous ? How do you prepare it ?

  • cool. i thought it was interesting how the bar was consumed quickly without much fuss. it was quiet!

  • I found this composition by chance and now I'm experimenting to know why it consumes quickly and to improve it. This is the meaning of all my boring burning rate tests. My winter project.

  • why did you use ferrocianate??

  • Hi Ricardo, ferrocianate increases nitrate decomposition

  • for the means of relasing oxigen, i assume. I did not knew there where salts that could do that.

BTW im trying unusal rocket fuels. Ever tried lactose instead of glucose? works better for me.

  • I don't want to know how it works but I known it works. Picmario has impressed me with his famous high burning rate s..t.

I've never tried lactose but it could be interresting.

  • haha! sorry for basically interagating you on rocketry! im a bit of a noob!

  • Actually this is my faster propellant

  • what exactly is Prussian Blue

  • Prussian Blue is a blue powered pigment. Easy to find in artist shop. Here the used reference is Kremer Pigments - 100g bag - prussian blue, paris blue PB27, water soluble KRMC45210 (KRMC45210). Good Nitrate catalyst !!!

  • ahhhhhhh!

sorry im a bit of a noob at rocketry, just getting into it!

more into ground salutes and black powder rockets!

  • This blue stuff (hyper messy to work with because the smurf color on your hands) is my little contribution to progress of knsb rocketry (and human kind)
