This is a love song. Yeah! :) I am going to say this once again you have the heart of a Spanard, Now or Never. Are you Spanish and you do not know it? L.O.L. This was incredible. WELL DONE ALL OF YOU.:)
all i can say is...i'd prefer to listen to Josh Groban's unique type of music, that is a mixture of classical and pop sometimes a little jazzy and rock feeling, over any other type of music. Because personaly i think he has one of the best voices i have every heard.
..........also he's sexy and i'd like to do him ;)
@ghgrrl38 I would say that this particular piece falls more into the category of "New Music" than classical. I would say that Josh Groban is the first truly mainstream person to do new music. But it's certainly a powerful song, really capturing that awkwardness of breaking up, something not often sung about, really creative.
but isn't that just because you don't have an understanding of the pop-genre? Like some people don't like jazz and classical music. We all percieve music differently, and one genre or song isn't more superiour than another. To say that josh groban is a joke is a bit snobbish to me. At least it's not very nuanced. Music is about telling a story or convey a feeling, and I think a simple well-constructed pop-song is able to do that as well as what you know as "proper music".
If you ever listened to Awake, since you're a Josh fan (which is hadrly believable), you'll see that it is experimental, ethnic and different to his other records, which were choc full of soppy love ballads. When you insult a record that has Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Herbie Hancock on it, you don't come across as a musical expert but more as a 16-year-old still waiting for puberty (which is probably what you are). And don't you dare use the word "gay" so flippantly. Try being more mature.
And you my friend are no more than a 12-year-old brat with no other useful purpose in life other than to post the same mediocre, carnival circus comments that millions of people have read and ignored because they much prefer Josh's so-called "manufactured carnival circus" over your manufactured, carnival circus way of thinking, which would insult even the carniest of carnys. Why don't you go masturbate like all the other normal 12-year-olds?
Actually, Josh's only backer is his producer David Foster, winner of 14 Grammys, who discovered him and helped him find his way into the music industry by singing, not by mooching off some famous uncle or being pushed by some crazy stage mother. If you want someone who didn't work their way up the ladder, look at Charlotte Church. She became famous at age 10 and had every single little thing done for her for which she received global fame, until she threw it all away on booze at clubs at age 18.
I don't understand why everybody here is blabbing on about Coke and wine. Josh may not be a legendary classical artist but then again, he NEVER said he was a classical or opera singer. Never ever.
In the classical field, he may be a can of Coke, first fizzy then flat. But in the pop/rock field, he's a fine wine with the kind of body, age and flavour that none of the other Billboard or Top 40 artists possess. Whether he's a Coke or a wine greatly depends on the other drinks sitting next to him.
please name someone you don't think is "manufactured"...
what's fine wine anyway? I don't even like wine...what I'm trying to say is, that music shouldn't be exclusive...there's no such thing as an elite of musicians...at least, that's my opinion.
klodsen- Fine wine, unlike the cheap stuff, is a very long and difficult process. It requires the very best of grapes. Josh Groban is a cheap table grape variety. Suitable for juice or raisins. If one has diet Coke with their dinner every night, they're not likely to sense the subtle, divine flavors of a great wine. Of course, you're entitled to your Coke. What bothers me is that you're trying to convince everyone that Josh is a '56 Chateau Blanc Melieu. Heck, he's not even a can of Bud-Lite.
I just don't think that you can define "good" music only as some extraordinary talent that's been through a long and difficult process. And it doesn't really make sence to me to differentiate between wine and coke when it comes to music. Have to get one thing clear though: Do you think that all pop music is rubbish?
I'm not saying that I only like pop music, but I think it's important that you have to listen to music with an open heart, putting away the prejudice.
I never said he was a classical singer. Just a pop singer with a traditionally baritone voice. What do you consider "hard core", "legitimate" music? All music is manufactured by the person who wrote it and the producers who are pushed it a little farther. All music is a product of someone. I guess I don't see your point. I'd like you to give me a decent example of someone with any success who has made music without any bit studio production or session musicians.
I think Josh Groban was very surprising with Awake. Working with Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth, and even Ladysmith Black Mambazo made this album very interesting and enjoyable.
Absolutely. As much as I love his previous work, I think this record is his best yet. Eclectic, interesting, experimental, ethnic, interesting and full of surprises. I love it when he takes a step out of his comfort zone and tries other styles of music that are just as moving and wonderful.
Ok so you seem a little bitter, which is understandable because music seems to have become very cliched and predictable these days. Sometimes it's hard to pick a diamond out of a pile of rocks. But there are still diamonds. But i would hardly compare him to Sarah Brightman as she is almost old enough to be his mother. And Broadway isn't dying. It's just changing. So who is original, talented and worthy of your attention? Atleast he's had the kind of training that not many young artists have.
Well, markcohen6969, You have just heard from Lardass56, who posted under the clone name marianne762. She is a 16 year old girl who trolls youtube extensively. I wouldn't pay any attention to anything she says. Just FYI
No no no. Avril Lavigne, Justin Timberlake and every single contest on American or Australian Idol are manufactured like boxes of soap. This guy is real, talented and organic. Avril and Justin haven't had 10 years of classical voice training, have they?? This guy is more made for theatre than the pop music scene. I hope he makes it to Broadway one day because that's where he belongs.
This guy has had ten years od solid classical training. That kinda stuff is not easily marketable. He doesn't even have a constant place in a music store. He doesn't even have a certain genre to belong to. He's original, he's good and he has a voice that's mature beyond his years. Maybe if you got off the jealousy train you might see that.
Lardass: What about you being a 14 year old American girl who pretends to be an adult man on youtube? McTranssexual? McDyke? McFlamer is more like it. You're outta there, egg mcmoron!
his falsetto was a bit faulty...but who can blame him! it was very early and if i was singing, it would in my hoarse morning voice...^^
besides, josh is the greatest! i cant stop watching this video or stopping singing it!...'only you and me on our final night and as the hours run away with another life. oh, darling cant u seen, its now or never...now or never...' love it!
OMG! josh is the best! and he's simply the best live singer! it sounds as tho it was recorded in a studio! anyways, i LOVE this song! now or never is the most played song on my ipod, my confession, number 2...^_^
josh, u are definitely swoon worthy! im swooning!!!!
i want a hug! That's it!!! Is it so much to ask for? If he ever sang to me personally i would literally die! And I don't swoon easily lol i'm a pretty big tomboy. I love how the instruments, the tune and the rythem to this song all sounds like clockwork. LOVE IT! OMG! I'm swooning just sitting here! OMGOMGOMG!!!!

Yes, because he claimed this album was actually classical. Haha. Actually, it's forwarding with a pop career.
And although the meaning of the song is generic, what song isn't?
cheddarsprite 4 years ago
It's not classical and it's not pop either. That's the beauty of it. You can't classify his music, not even in a record store.
