how do you know what version your mac is?

go to the apple on the top left corner and select "about this mac" and it should say "10.5."x" X=certain number...

or 10.4.X

your ipod is still in dfu mode. here is how you get it out... hold the power button and home button at the same time for ten seconds, then release the powerbutton and hold the home button for another ten and it should get out of dfu mode and start up again normally. sometimes you have to just hit the power again after the above steps

if it has buttons on the left side of the ipod that control the sound then it is 2nd gen. If it doesn't have the buttons on the left side it is 1st gen

just repeat that same button combination and it'll turn back on

(hold power and home for 10 sec, then release power, and keep holding home for 10 sec) repeat if necessary : )

hey i finnaly got mine to work... so this is what i did, i downloaded pwnage tool and use the advance mode to create a costume 2.2.1 and then i used quickpwn and when the screen turned white (i haz success) i left it like that w/o unplugging, i closed quickpwn and whent to itunes, on the iphone settings window i pressed reset while holding option (alt) that opend my finder window and i chose the custom 2.2.1 i had previously saved to my desktop and voila i jailbroke my iphone, mssg me if Q?

Dude....once I get to start sending the QuickPwn image the screen goes white and does not show the apple logo like in the video. It then completes the download but it will not reboot. Any suggestions? I retart the iPhone and restore and start the process again but it gets stuck.

First of let me say thanks, i've used your jail breaking guides before and they are by far the best.

I just got a new ipod touch 1G, restored it with 2.2.1, and try and jailbreak following exactly your guide.

I am stuck at the screen immediately after the "home and power button sequence".

The iPod Touch's screen simply remains blank and it indefinitely loads the progress bar (there is no progress)

Now I have try to re-restore multiple times and still no luck.
