I, too, miss these ladies ... they rocked. I was fortunate enough to see RR perform at a free outdoor music festival in Richmond, Indiana, in June of 1993. Lead singer Cheryl Jewel demonstrated her excellent taste in headgear at that concert by sporting a Detroit Tigers cap. ;) I still have my autographed photo from the band proudly displayed on my computer room wall.
This puts the reason into why Kansas' song writing did more than crease the page, it ripped a hole in the space time continuum and opened up the door a little to the light of the world. Any guesses as to who that might be?
One of the best female bands of all time--five gorgeous, badass, multitalented ladies that young women could look up to as role models--and almost nobody knows who they are. Well, they sure inspired me.
What a cool find! I knew the guitarist Heli Hewko, back in 1985. Our Christian heavy metal band Rizer took her to see Stryper. We got her and drove to San Diego. We hung out with Stryper before and after the show at the California Theater. We had a blast! We got free passes from Janice Sweet! Heli had great guitar chops and I'd like to see her agin and say hi! Good times!
Long before the floodgates of "Point of Grace" and such ladies groups became a norm in CCM, these women rocked! Had they not entered at the end of the big hair, rock era, I'm sure they would have had a much longer run.
The vocalist is very strong. Awesome singing and not bad guitar playing. Like to see where the singer is now. Drummer hopefully got some better chops since then.
Wow! Has it been 19 years already? I remember this vid being on constantly. Really cool, too bad they broke up like a year later. I thought they rocked. =(
