It's the same synth that was used in Outlanders "Vamp". I would really like to know which synth is used to produce this unique around-1990-dark-house-sound.
does anyone no atune alot like this with the lyrics --black and white an feel aright --- in the tune abit faster though,,hope you can help many thanks,,when times were good,,fucking pills i miss em
Unfortunate coincidence, shame i liked the thunderdome even though at the time people used to say you only went there if you were to ugly or uncool to get in the Hac.
Bang on mate, came over from Sheffield in 91, ignored the posers at the Hac and headed straight for ~Konspiracy, WOW! what a night, although we never did figure out what that daft spaceship shaped thing on the ceiling was for, it was a top night! rounded off nicely by my missus doing a sterling job steering the Datsun home over the snake pass while still peaking on a strawberry! Great times!
after years of searching ...found it ....my fac all time accciiiidd house track...the piano riff jus says it all ....used n remixed by many of the top dance tracks...pure gem ....the bruce lee of acid anthems!!!

i went to the hac once very early in the night just after they openedso got in after queuing , i'm glad i was looned that night as it was proper moody the tune of the night though was delite wildtimes remix
every time we took the long trip up the m1 from milton keynes to the hac we lined up for hours only to hear the words WERE FULL! in the end we never bothered and headed straight to konspiracys only ever got in to the hac once out of about 12 visits was a good night but i still ended up in konspiracys.
@antonfarqua I was from up there trust me mate by the time Konspiracy turned up on the scene the best days of the hacienda were over and everybody was at Konspiracy, Blackburn or Shelleys think even Thunderdome was over
To me along with Cry Siscos Afro Dizzi Act one of THE biggest sounds of the M25 parties in 1989. I'd go as far as to say one of the most influential tracks of all time not just in house/rave but in the whole of modern popular music (not that you'd know from listening to the boring outdated rock dominated music media tho). This stab was not just such an influence on hardcore in 90-92 but also a lot of the trance/hard house that took over the world in the late 90s/turn of millenium too.
This will always be in my all time top ten tunes no doubt. Defining a different style of house / techno of the times & influencing so many other artists thereafter. Will always be in my heart & mind, both for the memories & the truly unique sound. Fantastic track. Respect ;o)
At the Zap one mad night in '91/'92 Chris Coco (I think !) dropped this with an acapella of UFI's 'Understand This Groove' or it was a remix??? Any ideas anyone?
ERROR IN MY PREVIOUS POSTINGS !!!im big enough to admit that the previous postings are an error on my behalf.the leeproject is indeed the landlord maker of this magical tune..thousand appolagies.and millions of respect to the leeproject aka the landlord....
"then you sir are a god" we are in the presence of the originator of the Landlord stab on this youtube room. Only joking!! But good powerful work on the synths there mate!! Only once got to hear about Landlord back in the day. And that was a £5 pirate mixtape C60 sold on the side of the road at Camden market. Bet you Landlord never got to see a penny of it!!
This track contains the best ever synth / stab in the history of dance, so famous it's called the lanlord stab! Massive big up to the producers of this track as it's a truly amazing masterpiece! This track helped chape the the breakneat hardcore rave scene from 1990 onwards!
I agree with you 100% best synth line in history...and so ahead of its time, set the standard for hardcore as far as im concerned...wen carl cox put the breakbeat on the back of it for success in effect it fucking smashed the place
Hey yo, thanks for the big up...This is Landlord from Toronto Canada, the man behind the track from back in the day....record label messed with my career so i disappeared, i'm back yo, will always be Landlord but now go by the name..."The Lee Project" new album almost finished...rap/dance/r&b...keep in touch...
@theleeproject .... sad... but this tune is still on sale and you get nothing out of it? ???!! discogs.com/Various-History-Of-House-Music-Vol-1/release/2338376
Killer track. Pretty much shaped my definition of true hardcore underground house/techno. Funny that not many people seem to know about this original masterpiece.
Part of me would love to know how that synth-stab came to be (what equipment, processing, etc.); another part doesn't want to lose the mystique :)
again, it's Landlord...I like it ...off Big shot Records...I am Landlord from Toronto Canada...new album almost complete....The Lee Project is the new name.......Peace...Album is called X-plode...not yet released...but soon..
That stab sound was produced (I think) by sampling the beginning of the piano riff on Stirling Void's track - 'I don't wanna go'. Bizzarre inc did it with their track playing with knives also to great effect
A lot of producers were onto this sound at the time
you're landlord??? then you sir are a god...and just to let you know your tune is bloody hard to find these days...took me ages to find the blow out dub mix
I love this too - a link to the mp3 is doing the rounds with all my friends - we all remember it. Still sounds amazing. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant.
A slowed down version of this is sampled in that Hercules and Love Affair song...forget the name of it...

The main melody is used in many songs. Some examples:
Arrakis - The Spice
Union Jack - Red Herring
Poltergeist - Vicious Circles
DJ Quicksilver - I Have A Dream
It's such an influentual and great song!

Cheers, TX608L. Yeah, it's got that real tech-piano sound to it. It's a bit like a piano, yet it's nothing like a piano. I love it.
Reminds me as well of other "hard-tech" sounds from the likes of Smart Systems (Dougans/Cobain).
