I like how most of the comments are psycholagically and logically analyzing whether or not the character, Dr. Frasier Crane, would or would not drink/endorse Dr. Pepper.
Is this the same Dr. Crane who told everyone he will never do a commercial about a thing he doesn't like? If it is, he has sold his soul OR he loves Dr Pepper as much as i. :)
While this is spot-on, It saddens me to see Kelsey returning to Frasier for a single advert... and without Roz too. The entire booth was very dark too as if it knew it wasn't really doing an episode of frasier.
@NickStedmon There is a reason for that, on a Sitcom, the background doesn't matter much, but in a advert, it's very important to have a focus on the subject, hence the dark background.
@Zebonka Kelsey Grammer as Orson Welles. That's not a bad idea. I actually wanted to write an Orson Welles bio pic, maybe I should consider him. Thank you!
@DarkCaduceus If he could drink beer for 9 years, why would he not drink Dr. Pepper? Speaking which, did you notice that he did not drink beer very often on the spinoff?
They changed his character in Frasier, I didn't watch much of Cheers but when I did he seemed like an upper middle class guy that was a little stuck up. In Frasier he was a full-blown pretentious blowhard that liked nothing more than a glass of sherry(which of course, is the character we all love).
@DarkCaduceus i know it's weird. in cheers i found his slightly evil, but when i watch this, i never remember what about him made me think that way on cheers.
@BadlyBurntBacon I recall an episode of Frasier dealing specifically with Frasier's opinion on doing product placement. He agreed to advertise for products he, himself, enjoyed. In another episode, while comforting a woman whose boyfriend had dumped her after calling his show, he shared his fondness for M&M's and his belief that every color has it's own taste. If Frasier can hold such a stance on M&M's, is it really so hard to swallow that he'd like Dr. Pepper enough to do a commercial for them?
back @roadracer: his girlfriend lived in Chicago. He went to visit her. He did in fact accept the syndication deal at the radio station in San Francisco.
@rlrconsulting Actually he said we was moving to San Fran but instead he went to Chicago. They slipped it in on the plane saying 'We landed safely in Chicago'
@Ephidel88 That is true. But I wouldn't want to see it happen with Frasier. I loved Cheers and Frasier and I loved the way the left it at the end. We don't know what exactly happened so we're able to make up our own conclusions. For me, Diane and Sam eventually got together and Frasier and Lilith got together and moved back to Boston
wow I didn't know about this at all. I wish they were still airing Frasier! But then we would have to see Eddie die... funny it seems Bebe finally convinced Frasier to do another commercial! I like the "icy Doctor" comment but really I wish Kelsey Grammer's Frasier had more opportunities to come back to life. Somebody offer the cast a cajillion dollars to come back to life!
@celloqueenie o and, we'd have to see Frasier go completely bald and then Roz would enjoy her flip-book of his publicity photos over the years all too much
@televisewhatyouwant Please make sure ur using the term "sell out" properly... Just because he had a few brand names in his episodes does not equal him selling out...
This has been out since 08. i can't believe i've never seen this before. I miss Frasier. That, and Cheers were my favorite sitcoms as a child. Ironically though, I doubt the real Frasier Crane would endorse Dr Pepper. He would consider it demeaning to his profession. It was good to see him in action one more time though. Maybe they'll give him another Frasier spin off where he moves in with his grown son Frederick...
I remember this one episode where frasier wouldn't sell out on commercials that used his doctor status to convince people to buy products. *sigh* oh well.
@jrocketfinger Well, Frasier doesn't have problems endorsing a product, even as a doctor (such as a hot tub that had proven relaxing effects). He just won't endorse something that claims the impossible (like a tea that claims to guarantee good dreams).
@3Dtwin1 *sobs into hands* that's teasing now. I'mma have to do with making some berry cordial drink and add some lemonade to it. It's just not the same. *sobs some more*
I actually could see Frasier doing this. He doesn't mind advertising for products that he's actually tried and enjoyed, and he does enjoy sugary treats now and then, especially M&Ms.
When did this air?? What season? Yes, Frasier wouldn't promote a tea company in an ep because it purported to give you "happy dreams." no way would he push Dr. Pecker.
@DarkDesert23 "Scientific tests show that when one drinks dr pepper slowly one can truly relish the 23 favors, or that we can savor all our relationships mush as the conductor savors his corral nocturne, Slowly..." -Frasier "comments caller" -Frasier "only one Frasier you never savored me slowly"-lillith "well lilith i guess i finally found the right icy doctor"-Frasier Crane the best series in televisions history shows history
I would rather see the 35th season of Frasier with the entire cast being in a retirement home than this bullshit Grammer is doing now. LONG LIVE FRASIER!!!
I love both cheap soft drinks and expensive fine wines/whiskies. Not that sexual preferance has anything to do with taste in beverages... perhaps someone is feeling a little insecure with their own sexuality?
I don't buy Frasier endorsing a soft drink (the first season episode "Selling Out", among others explains this) but the cinematography is great... beautiful wide angles and a little more dynamic contrast than the show itself.
I wonder if this is the same set they shot the series on, or a really good repro?
i love this its nice to see what fraiser would be like now cos part of me wants t back but the other half knows that it shouldent cos it was such a good ending
I'm a massive fan of Frasier & suprised to find this. What i find best about it is the style, the camera angle pan, dark lighting & professional shoot.
This is how i think it'd look within cinema if they did a Frasier Movie, which, Kelsey has admittled wouldn't work & has ruled it out & i'd agree, the style on fraiser wouldn't be good on film due to the live audience, but if they the right script & a bit of a different style it could actually work, and with them all still alive they should.
Totally got that vibe as well. I think it looks great but the lack of Roz and the awkward writing make this lackluster compared to the show. Aside from that, I agree, this is an exciting look at what a Frasier movie would've looked like.

Well yes, you're probably right! I suppose I was just thinking about 'Selling Out' when I wrote that comment. So... might you be nearly as big a fan of Frasier as I am?! Haha!
Actually I was thinking of 'Selling Out' as well... I remember him saying something to Bebe about wanting to try products before he put his name on them.
lol well I am a really big fan of the show... its hard to say haha
