As for lie to me goes, they do show real expressions. That is one great thing about the show. You can actually take notes from the show since it is accurate (only seen season 1-2, so I don't know if they go over bored with bullshit later on). The micro expressions on the show are unfortunately not micro though. There full expressions, just shortened. By this I mean duration, not expression.
No it doesn't. That's why they say it's universal. You don't see japanese people frown when there happy, or Germans look sad when their scared. Only thing that changes with culture is perception on what is acceptable.
if micro-expression cant be faked..so how about all the micro-expression shown in the series of lie to me??they must me very good actors where they can produce such micro expression whenever they want thus proving micro-expression can be fake.what are your views on this? ^^
I don't get something... in "Surprise" it tells that mouth should be open, but I don't open my mouth when I get surprised, just when I'm amazed... I believe.
Anyways, the first surprise expresion that comes to my mind was a Macro-Expresion XD didn't open my mouth though...
@Bru2712 it isn't that you will open your mouth. you know how sometimes people will gasp for air when they are really surprised? you are looking for a subtle version of that reaction.
Also, there are people who don't show micro-expressions. But a great thing to do is to actually go out and look for micro-expressions on peoples faces. Like a mall or busy restaurant. Just sit there and watch people. You'll begin to notice subtle emotions, and also watch body language. While the face might be easy to control (in relative terms) body language is another give-away. Watch that as well.
Okay, I must say: After watching and reading plenty of stuff on emotions and facial expressions and such I was finally able to name every emotion shown in this video correctly! I've had plenty of trouble with this and even though this might seem a little stupid... I feel so awesome! :D
@AJandHerCookie You and me both, actually. I was thinking of starting an amateur YouTube channel concerning this stuff, you know like micro-expressions and body language and other things pertaining to Paul Ekman. You think it would take off?
@IanFree0007 Yeah, I think so. Ever since they started producing "Lie to Me" stuff about reading emotions and such seems to become pretty popular again.
I know there are a lot of people who hate Lie to Me, and I know that FOX cancelled it due to low ratings. But I created a Facebook page about LTM - wanna bring it back? Then join my page! Let's bring back this show back through a web revolution!!! Please join: on(dot)fb(dot)me/sMBAJD
@ScyL0n If you're having trouble with what concerns the language: It means that you are sorta looking down at people and think yourself better than them.
Oh fucks sake....so many online psychologist wannabes...I dread just to imagine regular people without the technical academic formation on non verbal language and psychology "reading faces"...
But really, when you try to tell when people are lying, the expressions will be much subtler; the show is based on Paul Ekman's work on microexpressions after all
A micro expression lasts a millisecond and unless you are looking for it you are likely to miss it.
For those of you who do not know what a micro expression is, it is a flash of true emotion that that person is feeling at that time. No matter how hard the person tries to conceal it people who are trained in deception and have studied Dr Pauk Ekman's work will be able to see it. It is subconscious and cannot be faked.

contempt is when you look down to somebody, as if you are superior to him/her, and you lack respect to the person.

@ADSCP Nice, the stalker with the tiny dick again. So, happy with the election results public worker?
About to get fired yet?

@Helenabu,
Stumbled on this page, and your comment.
Wondering how you know @ADSCP has a tiny dick....this is the Internet where @ADSCP could, in fact, be an obese black woman in Nigeria.
Unless, you might have some up close and personal information...just wondering.
