I bought an old 78rpm record of this song when I was a child. It had the sound of a steam engine in the background but was not Jeanette singing. I went and accidently broke it after only a few weeks. Shame - but now we have Youtube! Thanks for posting.
Love the way she says "blyewoo" Horizon. What an amazing voice! Why do they think modern performers have talent. I have heard better recordings of her voice and she was just incredible! My mom watched these movies when she was a little girl and had magazine pictures of Jeanetter MacDonald and Nelson Eddy on her walls. I listened to them when I was little too, in the 1950s. She will always be the "cream of the crop" when it comes to divas!
@rrmjvand • Totally, absolutely agree....if opinion could be fact you'd be 100% correct. Jeanette MacDonald is/was sublime. It was over 55 years ago that I was of an age to begin appreciating talent, and presence, and energy, and beauty, and Jeanette MacDonald had all that and so much more. What a treasure! She, this song, this recording with its pops, hisses, and scratches are a metaphor of an aging life and its better parts...thanks disco79 for the upload
Thank you. I bought "songs from yesterday" sheet music with this song in it. I enjoyed hearing the original version !

I was 5 years old back in 1966 ! I have found the version, search for : "George Olsen and his music"
