All drill instructors are different, some place importance on running, or drilling etc..

learn your general orders by heart, study the m16,make up your mind that you will not quit and you will do just fine.

I went through in 1984 and it felt like the first 2 weeks were a blur.

then i got stronger and basically just did what i was told. trying not to draw too much attn to myself.

@aknowneemus - Youre 100% correct in everything you say. I went through in 1988. I had a green belt named Sgt Buchannon. Buchannon hardly yelled, but he was the DI that no one wanted to piss off because he had us doing some crazy sadistic shit.

You can run and memorize all the shit you want but NOTHING can ever prepare for the DI's that head-fucked you. You just have to SURVIVE those guys. The physically abusive DIs and the yellers have NOTHING on the quiet DIs that mind fuck you.

@rs4life32 yes once you get in hs they do have JROTC at some schools. it stands for Junior Reserved Officers Training core. They teach you alot of useful stuff in life and in the military. Its an awesome program to join i recomend you do it!
