The myth with ovens used to be "cancer caused by eating food stuff prepared in ovens". This is not possible. However, close proximity to the energy source like this can cause cateracts over the eyes and will certaily have destructive properties towards blood cells. Cancer related illness such as leukemia can not be ruled out.

ive done this inside an old microwave, you place a jar upside-down inside micro wave, light a toothpick on fire and place inside jar, you need to prop the jar up a tad so fire can breath, then turn on microwave, it makes this awesome zapping sound and is too bright to look at so use welding goggles if you wana get a good look at it =D i did this in my back yard at night and from out front it looks like 1000 strobe lights - super bright haha

Microwaves cannot cause cancer because they are not a form of ionizing radiation. They are non-ionizing radiation. At the power levels emitted from microwave oven magnetrons the microwaves can obviously cause burns to surface tissues and easily damage the surface of the eye which can quickly cause irreversible damage (cataracts and similar conditions).

No, it's not from microwave. It's from medical equipment. This magnetron can work on different powers, so i'm using it(20W is safe). Yes, i'm using variac and self-made flyback driver with transformer. Oven's magnetron works on fixed 800-900W power only. No another power level. 900W is CRAZY. Do not use oven's magnetron.
