@lfvfd421 Trust me, enjoy that because one the "city" comes in and destroys a small town like Galax, you wish you had it back. I certainly do wish that with where I grew up in Harford County, MD.
It is so funny to think people really come to tour galax, i live there, its sick, no jobs, bad drug problems, the wealthy are trying to run the middle class and poor out of town illegal immigration is a major problem here. so to all you people that tour galax, try to live here and have a family in this town
How cool!!! Your video makes me homesick! My relatives are all from Galax (and Fries). Your video shows you driving down Oldtown street, where my grandma lived for years - right between the Piggly Wiggly and Higgins Oil (or Higginses, as natives called it!) :D The old Dixon's lumber stacks close to where my Aunt Ethel and Uncle Emmett lived over on Boyer Street bring back memories!!! Thank you SO much for posting!!!
I was born in Galax, my brother My Airy, NC and my other brother Galax as well, still have the birth certificates in a card form from Virginia Bureau of Records, My Grandfather was a Minister there Church of God a long time ago in the 60's
