The problem is not the m16 but its the 5,56mm bullet. I've heard a lot of war footage where soldiers say that 5,56 doesn't affect the ennemy the keep coming forwar. On the other hand the 7,62 delivers a lot of kinetic energy that crushes everything on its way
Ak47 is no doubt more powerful. If you hit your target, you know its hurting... but I think there's so much more value in accuracy--especially in urban areas with civilians. M16 has less impact force but is still very lethal. you have smaller caliber rounds, yes. but that means you can carry more. Also, recoil is much less than the AK. You can literally pump more bullets into the enemy due to the m16's accuracy even at longer ranges.
If you want sheer power (and range) then the WWII rifles are more powerful than both. The AK's use a cut down cartridge (just like the first assault rifle the Sturmgewehr 44)
The garand, the lee-enfield and kar98 were all effective to 800m +
The whole problem with the AK 47/74 is that Americans and people who say that it is worse than M 16 can not really shoot well with the Kalashnikov. When I was with the Army I reguarly would shoot down targets at 500m with 99% success.We,ll it was at about 75% successfull my shooting at 800m but it wasn's so bad, was it?Using AK it's very easy to make 2 or 3- rpound bursts.So this assault rifle is superior in its performance even at long distances.

In the field-stripping test they should of had rifles change calibers, you know go from a 5.56mm to a 6.8mm or .50 Beowulf or the AK go from a 7mm to a , uh, same 7mm or swap out an upper barrell and scope from a patrol configured weapon to a distance configured weapon.

ak is only better if you can get it dirt cheap, like 300 or 400 bucks. that is what the price on arsenal ak should be not double that. if you pay as much for a ak as what an ar cost you should just get a ar.

@MrAresZ По поводу разборки: Не думаю что во время боя или в короткий промежуток между боями кто-то соберется разбирать автомат ))) а при утыкании или задержке хотелось бы иметь более изящный способ извлечь патрон, чем разборка оружия. Кстати утыкание - чисто наш термин, происходит оно из-за качества производства - у патрона есть альтернатива куда податься кроме патронника, или пуля может быть несоосной гильзе )))
Doesn't the test overlook the fact that if the AK47 fails to fire it's from a major malfunction that would require a gunsmith or some kind of more intensive measures to correct? In other words, if an AK goes bad it goes ALL the way bad.
The M16 was designed for accuracy but was unreliable in terms of jamming while the AK 47 is built more like a machine gun that is meant to be fired fully automatic due to its poor accuracy but it can take a lot of abuse before jamming. today the M16 has being replaced by the M4 (Its already standard issue for the US Marines), extreme reliability, high accuracy, and low recoil make it a better choice than the Ak 47 for the modern day warfighter. But in the end it comes down to the shooters skill.
I think they are both good guns, I think the modern m16 is better because it can shoot further and more acurately, in a real fight you wont always be shooting at 30 feet. and as far as stopping power, sure the ak has more, but it is better to hit your target with a smaller round than it is to miss with a big one. also the original m16 rifle is the stupid one than jammed alot, everything after that didn't.
@dpjokers Well, there's modern AK's that shoot farther and more accurately too. You'll only miss with the bigger round if you're a poor shot. You can miss with smaller rounds too my friend. Having a M16 doesn't grant you the abilities of an expert marksman. You can have the most accurate rifle in the world and it won't matter if you can't shoot it properly.

Ак-47 . 1- старый образец (срез на стволе и есть компенсатор, пламегасители как у АК -74 появились позже)
2 - из 2-го раунда следует что у "Калаша" убойная сила больше, значит и отдача больше )))
3 - из АК даже 74 от бедра длинными очередями стреляют только ковбои в Гливуде ( норм. люди стреляют коротким по 3 выстрела)
P.S. раньше в СССР (если кто помнит что ЭТО) в школе на НВП все это изучали. А в СА (Советской Армии) норматив на разбор АК всего 30 сек.

Судя по всему ролик из серии "обьективного и независимого" сравнения.
Типо в одинаковых условиях АК-47 показывает худшие стрелковые качества чем М-16.
Только перед стрельбой надо было оба автомата закопать в песок и вымыть потом в грязной луже или провести разборку сборку прямо на земле.. Это более близко к реалу чем стендовые стрельбы.И не мешало бы узнать ,почему американские солдаты во Вьетнаме так часто пользовались трофейными idk what i said :p

In the field-stripping test they should of had rifles change calibers, you know go from a 5.56mm to a 6.8mm or .50 Beowulf or the AK go from a 7mm to a , uh, same 7mm or swap out an upper barrell and scope from a patrol configured weapon to a distance configured weapon.

First of all an m16 is shitty! Everyone is thinking of m4 or ar15 which are the more improved versions of the vietnam m16 that everheats and jams. It also depends on what ak you own too. russian, chinese, or yugoslavian? I own ak"s and ar"s and i still would rather pick up my ak vs. my ar. I love both and im an american but its sad to say that when in battle you want reliability. And that guy cant shoot! I can shoot my semi-auto ak faster than he could shoot. hahaha

@MrAresZ По поводу разборки: Не думаю что во время боя или в короткий промежуток между боями кто-то соберется разбирать автомат ))) а при утыкании или задержке хотелось бы иметь более изящный способ извлечь патрон, чем разборка оружия. Кстати утыкание - чисто наш термин, происходит оно из-за качества производства - у патрона есть альтернатива куда податься кроме патронника, или пуля может быть несоосной гильзе )))

Doesn't the test overlook the fact that if the AK47 fails to fire it's from a major malfunction that would require a gunsmith or some kind of more intensive measures to correct? In other words, if an AK goes bad it goes ALL the way bad.

The M16 was designed for accuracy but was unreliable in terms of jamming while the AK 47 is built more like a machine gun that is meant to be fired fully automatic due to its poor accuracy but it can take a lot of abuse before jamming. today the M16 has being replaced by the M4 (Its already standard issue for the US Marines), extreme reliability, high accuracy, and low recoil make it a better choice than the Ak 47 for the modern day warfighter. But in the end it comes down to the shooters skill.

I think they are both good guns, I think the modern m16 is better because it can shoot further and more acurately, in a real fight you wont always be shooting at 30 feet. and as far as stopping power, sure the ak has more, but it is better to hit your target with a smaller round than it is to miss with a big one. also the original m16 rifle is the stupid one than jammed alot, everything after that didn't.

@dpjokers Well, there's modern AK's that shoot farther and more accurately too. You'll only miss with the bigger round if you're a poor shot. You can miss with smaller rounds too my friend. Having a M16 doesn't grant you the abilities of an expert marksman. You can have the most accurate rifle in the world and it won't matter if you can't shoot it properly.
