So true, good advice. I show dogs and it's very important to know these things at a big show. Never get in a dogs face either, even if they look welcoming!
Omg funny story one of my english bulldogs is mean as freak, like i was by myself at my house and my dog started growling at me for no reason and i was trapped between these corners of my walls and couldnt move and he kept getting closer i wasnt doing anything i was gonna piss my pants, but eventually i got away thank god.
Could have used this information about ten years ago. The good news is, the dog owner's home insurance paid me $5,000.00 for a nip to my calf. That was a nice chunk of change. In fact, I'm thinking of going back to that yard with a pork chop tied to my leg! Might get $10,000.00 this time!
One of the first things I learned the hard way was to never run from a dog. EVER! I used to be a runner and saw a stray along one of my routes. I thought that going a different direction would be a better option and so I didn't think to stop running. As soon as I turned I could hear some heavy breathing and turned my head for a split second to see the dog giving chase! I ran hard as hell. I came out fine. The dog eventually lost interest and I improved on my three mile time! Anyways, Great Vid!
hi there... i have a great dane, she is 7 months old and when me and my mum take her outside its like she's having a fit or something. she starts jumping and biting us.. and when we try to take her inside she refuses to move when we get close to the house... she only started refusing to move about 2-3 months ago... can you please reply as we don't no what to do... we want to get this sort of behavior out of her quickly as she's a big dog.. thanks :-D
@killerpigeon347 it sounds like the dog is getting very excited when you take it outside, try cornering the dog and blocking it from doing this using your arms and legs (not hitting but more like guarding like basketball), once cornered keep her there till she carms down then move to let her go, if she gets excited again then repeat, she will eventually carm down, but everytime you go outside she will become excited still but the intensity will get lower.
Help Ive got a german shepherd and I followed all the commands he does sit, but tried to teach him not to jump with your trainning video and he now started biting its got to the point where I cannot go near him. When I get him to sit again he starts jumping and biting me as soon as I get close he tries to get behind me and jumps on my back and bites. He does not look at me and I have a very hard time to get his attention as well I spend more then half hour to calm him. Hes almost 6 months now.
i recently was almost attacked by a stray dog,and i reacted like you said here and even though the dog was growling and runing and snapping its jaws at me it never didnt attack ... i was shouting No at it and Stop for about 10 mins and slowly backin away but never turned from it ,the dog finally backed down
I have a border collie sheltie mix that was very sociable from he is young. I had no problem with him greeting people. Today he has fear agression towards people and I dont know what caused that. Last week he bit someone who came in my house without ringing the bell, also this person had teased him when he was younger. Im afraid , and not sure what to do. I tried BARK BUSTER TRAINING , but they are useless. the techniques they used seem to make my dog more feraful.
I've got a 13 weeks old German Shepherd. He's actually really nice. BUT, he has one problem.
When he goes amock at stuff in the house and I stop him, he turns to bite me. And the more I say no, or if i grab him by the neck he goes more crazy. It has ende 3 times now with me saying NO! and holding him down by the floor for like 30 sec, because he bites so hard..
@jonen9494 Bite him back, if you want to show that you're the alpha male, and he really isn't taking you "pinning" him down, then bite him in his throat. That's what another superior dog would do.
Ofcourse, you shouldn't bite so hard that he starts to bleed, that's obviously taking it too far.
But you're either his alpha, or he will never listen to what you say in the future.
@jonen9494 I'll go out on a line here, but I'll say that THAT is precisely why he bites you, you're not showing that you're boss.
Harsh? That's exactly what an alpha male would've done had he lived in a pack. He's essentially challenging your leadership when you're trying to correct him.

hi! this training is so cool i really learned a lot but I can't find the way to restrain my Labrador puppy from biting my legswhen i walk or chewing my hands when am trying to train her. seems like she thinks were playing. shes just 4 months old and i don't wanna want her to be hurt or frightened of training i ant her to have while am training her
I am not a mean person, but if a dog gets agressive - I will try to remain calm, and if the dog continues - I will kick the sh!t out of it at first chance. Kick at the side of it's head if possible. Or, hit the top of the nose if possible. That will work when nothing else will.
Might want to mention appearance is not an indicator of danger. Once had a huge Great Dane which wouldn't hurt anything, yet many were afraid of him. Some time later, had a highly protective attack-trained white/beige Siberian & wolf mix, yet many wanted to pet this pretty dog. Keep distance from an unknown dog until the owner has control and tells you it's safe to approach. Even then, use good judgement.
This is very helpful information. I got cornered by two Rottweilers last week as I was knocking on a customer's door. (not home) I'm now the intruder and it was scary. I had not seen this video but I used a loving voice tone and very gently walked by saying "It's ok, be a good dog now, I'm just visiting but I'm gonna leave now." That and pretty much what this guy says and I got out of it unscathed. Happy on both parts because I love dogs and I don't want them to get harmed either.
i can give you a tip that did work for me, when she bites you, dont pull your hand away just slowly move it above his head and say NO and then teach her to release you can check that on youtube and you better stop this or else she might be aggressive..
keep walking, if the dog tries to attack, let your dog defend you..thats what they're for. and if you own a chihuahua, well its your fault for not getting a real dog like a rottweiler LOL
I try this with my puppy, but all she does is lay down and lick or try to bite my shoes, won't move an inch and I'm talking about 10-15 min.... she will even fall asleep..... now what?
umm i need help i have a 9month old pitbull terrier he absoulutly hates other dogs a few days ago when i walked him my nabors dog was loose she imediatley ran towards us and my dog just lunged at her luckliy i had a harness on him he snaped at he dogs twice missing her face by an inch or two idk wht to do i dont want him to be an agressive dog when he gets older but i do want him to be a watch dog as well can some one help me plz
When your dog gets aggressive with another, grab your dog and put it on it's back.
My neighbour had a pound dog that was really aggressive and he did this with her, he said that he only had to do it 3 times and the dog never went after another again.
That's the harshest form of correction and should only be used if the dog's intention is to kill the dog he's going after.... Bear in mind that if you don't perform this move correctly the dog WILL try and defend itself and will possibly try and kill YOU !
I don't get it ......An 'alpha roll' (which is what you described as suitable punishment for lunging) is telling your dog 'if you do that again, i'm going to kill you', a dog won't understand why it's just been electricuted, it'll just be in pain... Two totally different forms of punishment....
when I pin a dog down using the bite move it is as any other dog would do to another dog. It does not hurt the dog. you are hurting the dog and that dog will hate you.
now they do have a shock collar but for rare cases only and it is a very small jolt to snap the dog out of thinking of whatever they are thinking and to redirect.
A dog can only think of 1 thing at a time.
Please Do Not use a stun weapon on any dog. I will help you free if necessary
I am not sure what move you are talking about but I do agree if you pin your dog down as any pack leading dog would do, you better know what you are doing or you will get bite. better to use a muzzle at 1st if you are not a professional
@jsf525 I was saying that the 'alpha roll' i.e. pinning the dog down is the harshest form of correction and should only be used in extreme cases i.e. when a dog intends to kill another. Dogs DO NOT alpha roll each other without VERY good reason. Lunging and showing mild agression should never be corrected by pinning the dog, as it is a very aggressive move and said dog may well turn on you.
Also, i'm pretty sure Headcrabb was joking about tazing his dog...
the best thing is to get your dog under control and then if you know the other dogs owner then have that dog smell yours. but you must 100% have control of your dog while the other dogs smells.
this means your dog gave in.
remember dogs need to smell 1st hear 2nd.
if you come across a dog off leach stay calm and ignore. no touch No talk No eye contact. the 3 rules.
If you know what to do then you don't need to read this.......lol
please stop promoting the alpha hold. It's not safe, it's long term results are put into question, and some studies have shown that it can even cause a dog who was never agressive to become agressive. It's not safe, and it should only be done by a prefessional trainer and never in dog agression cases caused by the dog not understanding the command. Furthermore, it's often being abused by owners, causing the dog to lose trust in them. Please consider this before blindly promoting it.
you only do this move if the dog put there teeth on you. that is the only time or if the dog just bite another dog. while holding him down you bring the dog that was attact over to smell the dog i am holding down.
I show my customers in person how to do the take down and the bite on the neck.
if not done within 2 seconds forget it because the dog won't know why you are holding him
The best way is to hold the dog down on his or her side and use your hand as a mouth of a dog and your fingers as teeth. You hold the Dog down on the neck just as another dog would do to another Dog.
and you slowly move your hand away till the Dog gives up. Now he will see you as a pack leader. this is the same as the dog whisperer Cesar millan would do.
I am a trainer in boca raton Florida.
I volunteer at all the dog shelters to rehabilitate dogs so they can get a good home.
Again, alpha rolling is a last resort- short term fix punishment in dogs that are 'red zone' as Ceasar would put it, but it can also seriously damage a dog's trust in it's handler and also provoke a 'kill or be killed' response from the dog, so you need to be prepared for a seriously pissed off dog if you engage in 'alpha rolling'.... I would never recommend such a move....
pining your dog down is a correction and not a punishment.
yes you need to be trained for this move or use a muzzle.
as far as trust, just learn how to master the walk and you get 90% trust on the walk and never let the dog in front. who ever is in front is the pack leader roll.
the 1st thing I tell my customers is if you are not walking your dog every day then you should not own a dog. The backyard
is a fish tank to a dog. a dog needs to travel and travel by your side.
i got bit in my wrist by a great dane earlier today. Dont pet a dog that hasnt been around people alot. it was a outside dog so its mean. not all outside dogs are mean though.
NEVER use those gawdawful retractable clothesline leashes. I was bit last month from behind by a woman walking her dog with a twety-foot retractable leash. At that length, the owner has NO control over the dog and cannot pull him away. Use a real leash - three to six feet long. Don't be a lazy dogwalker!
@ForbinColossus I don't think any controlled dog would wander 20 feet away during a walk. I use a retractable when i walk my dog to the park. i'll walk it closely, then when i relax on a bench I'll let the dog have about 10- 15 feet of slack to walk around and sniff. Retractable leashes can be pretty cool if you have an obedient dog.
Don't let people pet your dog in the first place. It's really not worth the risk. If your dog actually harms a person, the person can and often will force you to put your dog down. Keep a short leash when around other people.
Best way to have your dog not bite people in the first place is to have your puppy around LOTS and LOTS of people from day one. Socialization is very very important.
@ronnysoeberg It's completely unfair for dog owners to let other people be assaulted. The dogs shouldn't be put down, because they're only dogs. The owners, however, should go to prison.
Socialize him... put a muzzle on, to humble him, and let people pet him, its got to be a pet on the head without the dog first sniffing them. if he sniffs them he thinks he is allowing them and he is the dominant one.
Also research his behavior, if anything else leads to his dominating behavior, i saw this on don sullivans training
another thing, is dont stand fully front on, as some dogs are very sensitive to body language, and see it as a threat, try to stand so the dog is halfway between side on, and the front.
how do u control ur dog when u come outside the dog sees u gets exited jumps on u and than the nibbling turns almost into a bite while u are trying to stop the dog from doing this by command and all it does is get more exited how should this be approched?
Ahh another person who needs help, well when it jumps at you stamp your feet, the dog will ponder and will be confused , put your hand on its neck , put the other one there then twist as hard as u can, then bury him in your backyard.
When they jump on you, just hold their paws up, this works almost instanly, its not like teachin them commands, they dont like the consequence of jumping on you, they wont do it!
dogs dont get jealous, they fight over being greated first, due to social status, thats dominant behaviour that shouldt be rewarded. The packleader should not accept that to dogs from the same pack fight over his/hers attention.
well my dog is a bit wierd, whenever i touch his toys he actually bites me, im also the pack leader. i dont know why he does this and i cant put him in his crate cuz then he thinks its a punishment. HELP
my thoughts are , you may not be the pack leader if he feels comfortable enough to snap at you. That aside, I would recomend taking a firmer stance against him when he displays these territorial traits with a firm "NO!". You may have to divert his attention with a treat and ONLY reward him if he lets you take the toy freely. I would not try taking the toy if he has any attention on it whatsoever. Keep treating him for letting you grab the toy and eventually he will be OK with the idea.
you should challenge him by closing your hand into a "punching" fist and place it direktly on top of his toy, no eyecontackt- look at the toy, and then hold your hand firmly on top of his toy until he moves- if he doesnt move-keep your fist on the toy and use your back or side to block him and push him away from the toy. He is trying to dominate you by biting-even if its just a little bite-its disrespectful to you as packleader. Whats his is yours and whats yours is his only your premisess.
Reward him when his aggressive behavior stops. you can also use a leash to give him a snap when he growl or snaps. Naturally the packleader should be able to grap or take anything the others in the pack eats or carries in their mouth-or whatever their possesing at the time. When you can remove his toy without getting bitten, your becoming more respected and he will see you more as an autorityfigure.
This is great advice on avoiding dog attacks. As for some comments, seriously! Kicking an aggressive pitty in the face is a bad idea. Watch the video again and learn from it.
Unless the dog is like 200 pounds just tackle it. If a rotweiler or pitbull came at me and I had no chance of escape the only way to stop it is by fighting. I'm not really big but a nice kick to the face, punch in the ribs and a tackle/choke hold should get the job done. Just hold it till it falls asleep or someone comes.
man im a big kid im 12 yea but im pretty big and when i sand tall and shout dogs back down im big in hight and weight man dogs listen cuz theres this stra dog roming around my road and man its mean it has a nasty bark and stuff i think itd s a husky it looks like it anyway i must meet it standers cuz it pretty nice to me like me only... i showed him who boss...
MY Grown Basset brothers fight once a week. Ive tried everything. Its bad & they & WE sometimes get bloody. I had them cut at the Vet,they calmed down but still fight when eye to eye.
Ay, taking two dogs the same sex don't work for every breed(don't now with Bassets) but i had only cut one of them, the less stronger one, most of the times he would find his place then in the fammily, but that don't always work, it can even become worser...
They need a hiërarchie with the owner as pack leader
that often happens when you treat dogs unfairly so whenever you give attention to one dog, make sure somebody else is giving attention to the other dog in another room. So to sum it all up dont get the dogs jealous of eachother
both dogs should be calm and relaxed before you great them. Packleaders dont allow exitement, but calm and relaxed behaviour. Remember that the packleader is the most indipendent one in a pack-and the pack follows him, and he doesnt appreciate exited greatings from the pack - but calm and submissiv ,,welcome home"
If you teach your dogs to be calm and give you a submissive calm welcome home- they wont be "jealous" and they wont fight over you-because you dont allow their exitement to escalate.
Very good video. I had an encounter with a rottweiler who got loose from it owner, dog charged at me, I turned sideways keeping an eye on the dog, he rushed right by me and went for someone who ran away behind me.
I dunno. I know they can be good dogs, but I spent 8 months volunteering at an animal shelter, and it would always be the pits/pit mixes that got in fights/killed other animals. There was even one that was raised at the shelter since it was a puppy, like, lovingly and with contact with people and animals, that killed a rooster and got in a fight with another dog. I knwo they CAN be good dogs, but honestly, we bred aggressiveness into them, so we shouldn't be surprised when they are aggressive.
Are these really questions being asked by adults, I doubt it. If you are this clueless stay out of the woods and in doors. Possible take a literature class. Good Luck with the four people killing, wild leg biting dogs, coyetes. I am sorry but this is too funny. I really want to see the newspaper article for this; we all know if "Four found dead and dog still roams free to bite others" really happened the dog would be killed and the news would report it. Are you sure it wasn't the Chupacabra lol?
Most dogs have heard the words "sit" and "no". it does not mean that it will work with every dog but it is better than nothing. If the dog is really wild there is a good chance that they will not even get close to you.
true but what if like a dog or coyote was really desperate for food and u looked it in the eyes (which most "smart people" wouldnt)and it wanted to fight with you what then i heard try to get as big as u can and yell and stomp does that work or no?
my dog has a serious obsession with eating things plugged into the wall, like the vaccum had the cord just on the floor not plugged in then i left in the wall and he ate it same with my charger for my phone and then a really expensive space heater was the last thing i left plugged in before we started trying to keep stuff out of reach how in the world would you break that? i am the one who sent you and email i hope you can help!
LOL Sorry I know it's not funny when times are getting hard and things aren't cheap, but I think your dog has a death wish!! I know you can't watch him all the time, but try to keep an eye on him and give him a firm NO when he trys then reward him for not eating every electronic in the house.
well it is kinda funny, but i think it's like he gets mad at me or something and purposely goes for things he knows are expensive or things i need and use alot except for like the tv or ps3 none of the tv electronics that would seriously hurt him but mostly everything is put up so he cant get to it and i dont leave anything plugged in as long as i remember and i have done pretty good so far
@eletendre1 have you done the video for mouthy puppies? can you tell me where i can find it? i really want to see it cuz my 3 month pitbull dozer likes to bite. a lot.
So true, good advice. I show dogs and it's very important to know these things at a big show. Never get in a dogs face either, even if they look welcoming!

you can pick your dog up and try to hide your dog, mostly its head, tail and a little of the body and walk away
xena2345678 1 year ago
keep walking, if the dog tries to attack, let your dog defend you..thats what they're for. and if you own a chihuahua, well its your fault for not getting a real dog like a rottweiler LOL

I try this with my puppy, but all she does is lay down and lick or try to bite my shoes, won't move an inch and I'm talking about 10-15 min.... she will even fall asleep..... now what?
superjhonxxx 2 years ago
this guy gives good advice.
No Talk ,no touch, no eye contact.
1 thing I disagree with is not to give a dog a command. also stand sideways. do not face the dog or turn your back on the dog..
giving a dog a command you will be putting your hand out to motion to sit and the dog can bite your hand.

OG863 2 years ago 2
When your dog gets aggressive with another, grab your dog and put it on it's back.
My neighbour had a pound dog that was really aggressive and he did this with her, he said that he only had to do it 3 times and the dog never went after another again.
Headcrabb 2 years ago
thax for the help
OG863 2 years ago 2
That's the harshest form of correction and should only be used if the dog's intention is to kill the dog he's going after.... Bear in mind that if you don't perform this move correctly the dog WILL try and defend itself and will possibly try and kill YOU !
TeslaNick2 2 years ago
Shit, really? because I was tazing my dog before and I thought that this was a much better alternative... : (
Headcrabb 2 years ago
I don't get it ......An 'alpha roll' (which is what you described as suitable punishment for lunging) is telling your dog 'if you do that again, i'm going to kill you', a dog won't understand why it's just been electricuted, it'll just be in pain... Two totally different forms of punishment....
TeslaNick2 2 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
I agree you do NOT taz a dog.
jsf525 2 years ago
Oh yeah and also, don't expect your dog to trust you again after a move like that....
TeslaNick2 2 years ago
Yeah, It was kind of skiddish after getting 50,000 volts
Headcrabb 2 years ago
I think you mean 'skittish'....
TeslaNick2 2 years ago
never taz a dog. what are you nuts.
just use your hand and the touch and your body languish.
jsf525 2 years ago
It isn't really a taser, its more like a stun gun.
Headcrabb 2 years ago
same thing. that is animal abuse......
when I pin a dog down using the bite move it is as any other dog would do to another dog.
I will help you free if necessary
jsf525 2 years ago
I can think of a few people that could do with a volts to the face... hehehe...
TeslaNick2 2 years ago
I am not sure what move you are talking about but I do agree if you pin your dog down as any pack leading dog would do, you better know what you are doing or you will get bite. better to use a muzzle at 1st if you are not a professional
jsf525 2 years ago
people gave you 3 hands down but what are you saying the harshest form of correction is?
jsf525 2 years ago
@jsf525 I was saying that the 'alpha roll' i.e. pinning the dog down is the harshest form of correction and should only be used in extreme cases i.e. when a dog intends to kill another. Dogs DO NOT alpha roll each other without VERY good reason. Lunging and showing mild agression should never be corrected by pinning the dog, as it is a very aggressive move and said dog may well turn on you.
Also, i'm pretty sure Headcrabb was joking about tazing his dog...

this putting the dog on the side not the back is correct..

this happened because you have no control over your dog on the walk. by caesars milin's book, mastering the walk
jsf525 2 years ago
the best thing is to get your dog under control and then if you know the other dogs owner then have that dog smell yours. but you must 100% have control of your dog while the other dogs smells.
this means your dog gave in.
remember dogs need to smell 1st hear 2nd.
if you come across a dog off leach stay calm and ignore. no touch No talk No eye contact. the 3 rules.

Please consider this before blindly promoting it.
gavroash 2 years ago 2
I am a professional. I worked with cesar.
you only do this move if the dog put there teeth on you. that is the only time or if the dog just bite another dog. while holding him down you bring the dog that was attact over to smell the dog i am holding down.
I show my customers in person how to do the take down and the bite on the neck.
if not done within 2 seconds forget it because the dog won't know why you are holding him
this is what dogs do to each other.
go to a dog park a watch them.
jsf525 2 years ago
Trust you get 90% from walking your Dog but never in front of you. If you are too lazy to walk your dog ever Day don't get a dog.
I do recommend how to lie your dog down by a professional before doing it yourself.
It's very Important to know just how hard to hold and how long.
jsf525 2 years ago
Totally agree.... At the end of the day from a dog's point of view it's a death threat....
TeslaNick2 2 years ago

The best way is to hold the dog down on his or her side and use your hand as a mouth of a dog and your fingers as teeth. You hold the Dog down on the neck just as another dog would do to another Dog.
and you slowly move your hand away till the Dog gives up. Now he will see you as a pack leader. this is the same as the dog whisperer Cesar millan would do.
I am a trainer in boca raton Florida.
I volunteer at all the dog shelters to rehabilitate dogs so they can get a good home.
thank you

Again, alpha rolling is a last resort- short term fix punishment in dogs that are 'red zone' as Ceasar would put it, but it can also seriously damage a dog's trust in it's handler and also provoke a 'kill or be killed' response from the dog, so you need to be prepared for a seriously pissed off dog if you engage in 'alpha rolling'.... I would never recommend such a move....
TeslaNick2 2 years ago
pining your dog down is a correction and not a punishment.
yes you need to be trained for this move or use a muzzle.
as far as trust, just learn how to master the walk and you get 90% trust on the walk and never let the dog in front. who ever is in front is the pack leader roll.
the 1st thing I tell my customers is if you are not walking your dog every day then you should not own a dog. The backyard
is a fish tank to a dog. a dog needs to travel and travel by your side.
by cesars book
jsf525 2 years ago
wrong, you get respect when you pin a dog down just as another dog would do to your dog.
yes have a trainer teach you how to do it the right way or your dog may bit you. I recommend a muzzle at 1st if it's a bad case.
jsf525 2 years ago
i got bit in my wrist by a great dane earlier today. Dont pet a dog that hasnt been around people alot. it was a outside dog so its mean. not all outside dogs are mean though.
Eminem888444 2 years ago
NEVER use those gawdawful retractable clothesline leashes. I was bit last month from behind by a woman walking her dog with a twety-foot retractable leash. At that length, the owner has NO control over the dog and cannot pull him away. Use a real leash - three to six feet long. Don't be a lazy dogwalker!
ForbinColossus 2 years ago 19
@ForbinColossus I don't think any controlled dog would wander 20 feet away during a walk. I use a retractable when i walk my dog to the park. i'll walk it closely, then when i relax on a bench I'll let the dog have about 10- 15 feet of slack to walk around and sniff. Retractable leashes can be pretty cool if you have an obedient dog.

My dog bite a kid on the arm whewn i was walking him how do i stop him from wanting to bite people???
funkeyman606 2 years ago
Don't let people pet your dog in the first place. It's really not worth the risk. If your dog actually harms a person, the person can and often will force you to put your dog down. Keep a short leash when around other people.
Best way to have your dog not bite people in the first place is to have your puppy around LOTS and LOTS of people from day one. Socialization is very very important.
ronnysoeberg 2 years ago 8
@ronnysoeberg It's completely unfair for dog owners to let other people be assaulted. The dogs shouldn't be put down, because they're only dogs. The owners, however, should go to prison.

5596857 2 years ago
Socialize him... put a muzzle on, to humble him, and let people pet him, its got to be a pet on the head without the dog first sniffing them. if he sniffs them he thinks he is allowing them and he is the dominant one.
Also research his behavior, if anything else leads to his dominating behavior, i saw this on don sullivans training

another thing, is dont stand fully front on, as some dogs are very sensitive to body language, and see it as a threat, try to stand so the dog is halfway between side on, and the front.
great tips though!

dogs dont get jealous, they fight over being greated first, due to social status, thats dominant behaviour that shouldt be rewarded. The packleader should not accept that to dogs from the same pack fight over his/hers attention.
dronningmaud 2 years ago
well my dog is a bit wierd, whenever i touch his toys he actually bites me, im also the pack leader. i dont know why he does this and i cant put him in his crate cuz then he thinks its a punishment. HELP
question909090 2 years ago
my thoughts are , you may not be the pack leader if he feels comfortable enough to snap at you. That aside, I would recomend taking a firmer stance against him when he displays these territorial traits with a firm "NO!". You may have to divert his attention with a treat and ONLY reward him if he lets you take the toy freely. I would not try taking the toy if he has any attention on it whatsoever. Keep treating him for letting you grab the toy and eventually he will be OK with the idea.
freemind321 2 years ago
you should challenge him by closing your hand into a "punching" fist and place it direktly on top of his toy, no eyecontackt- look at the toy, and then hold your hand firmly on top of his toy until he moves- if he doesnt move-keep your fist on the toy and use your back or side to block him and push him away from the toy. He is trying to dominate you by biting-even if its just a little bite-its disrespectful to you as packleader. Whats his is yours and whats yours is his only your premisess.
dronningmaud 2 years ago
Reward him when his aggressive behavior stops. you can also use a leash to give him a snap when he growl or snaps. Naturally the packleader should be able to grap or take anything the others in the pack eats or carries in their mouth-or whatever their possesing at the time. When you can remove his toy without getting bitten, your becoming more respected and he will see you more as an autorityfigure.
dronningmaud 2 years ago
This is great advice on avoiding dog attacks. As for some comments, seriously! Kicking an aggressive pitty in the face is a bad idea. Watch the video again and learn from it.
dwightlathan77 2 years ago
Unless the dog is like 200 pounds just tackle it. If a rotweiler or pitbull came at me and I had no chance of escape the only way to stop it is by fighting. I'm not really big but a nice kick to the face, punch in the ribs and a tackle/choke hold should get the job done. Just hold it till it falls asleep or someone comes.

MY Grown Basset brothers fight once a week. Ive tried everything. Its bad & they & WE sometimes get bloody. I had them cut at the Vet,they calmed down but still fight when eye to eye.
HerbWalker 3 years ago
Ay, taking two dogs the same sex don't work for every breed(don't now with Bassets) but i had only cut one of them, the less stronger one, most of the times he would find his place then in the fammily, but that don't always work, it can even become worser...
They need a hiërarchie with the owner as pack leader
anarchist99999 3 years ago
that often happens when you treat dogs unfairly so whenever you give attention to one dog, make sure somebody else is giving attention to the other dog in another room. So to sum it all up dont get the dogs jealous of eachother
question909090 2 years ago

dronningmaud 2 years ago
both dogs should be calm and relaxed before you great them.

Are you sure it wasn't the Chupacabra lol?

what if they are wild and tehy dont know what sit or no ?
what then

sorry "they"
airwarmaniac1 3 years ago
Most dogs have heard the words "sit" and "no". it does not mean that it will work with every dog but it is better than nothing. If the dog is really wild there is a good chance that they will not even get close to you.
eletendre1 3 years ago
true but what if like a dog or coyote was really desperate for food and u looked it in the eyes (which most "smart people" wouldnt)and it wanted to fight with you what then i heard try to get as big as u can and yell and stomp does that work or no?

my dog has a serious obsession with eating things plugged into the wall, like the vaccum had the cord just on the floor not plugged in then i left in the wall and he ate it same with my charger for my phone and then a really expensive space heater was the last thing i left plugged in before we started trying to keep stuff out of reach how in the world would you break that? i am the one who sent you and email i hope you can help!

LOL Sorry I know it's not funny when times are getting hard and things aren't cheap, but I think your dog has a death wish!! I know you can't watch him all the time, but try to keep an eye on him and give him a firm NO when he trys then reward him for not eating every electronic in the house.
leolove816 2 years ago 2
well it is kinda funny, but i think it's like he gets mad at me or something and purposely goes for things he knows are expensive or things i need and use alot except for like the tv or ps3 none of the tv electronics that would seriously hurt him but mostly everything is put up so he cant get to it and i dont leave anything plugged in as long as i remember and i have done pretty good so far
