You don´t see what happens?

The colored version is an inverted image of the picture with original color.

If you stare enough concentrated at the center on it; when the picture turns black and white, you should be able to see the image in original, real colour, with blue water and so on.

But it´s hard to concentrate enough to notice.

When it switches to "normal colour" it hasn't really switched to normal colour at all- it's just black and white. It's because you've been staring at the negative image that it appears to be normal colour.

WOW! That was creepy! I saw the colors on the sea and lightning ant that, but this was only when i saw at the black dot i had already stared on. When i focused on the rest of the picture, the colors was gone. When i saw back to the black dot, the colors came back! Maybe it's this most people do wrong :)

Our eyes are constantly trying to find a "white reference". If you stare at a color long enough, your eyes will get used to the color and consider it the closet thing to white. Then, when that color goes back to an actual white, our eyes see the exact opposite of the color because the color we were looking at and considering "white" is now gone. In a dark room, try shining a red light one a white surface, then changing to a white light quickly. You should see cyan, red's opposite. Same effect.

It's just the way our eyes and brains work. I agree it's amazing. I'm just trying to pass along these amazing things to all of you too. There are more of these on the web if you search "negative afterimage illusions". I took this pic on 7 Mile Beach in Grand Cayman. All you have to do is make any color pic into a negative image and then make a separate black and white image of it. Look at a spot on the negative image for 30 seconds or so and then look at the b&w image really fast. Thanks!

@Graffiti313Junkie Thanks for subbing. Some people have a hard time seeing this effect. The picture switches to a completey black and white version as you are staring at the negative image. When it switches to black & white, you're supposed to be able to see the picture in full color (the way the scene looked when I took this color picture). Too bad it didn't work for you.
