hello, I'm fairly young to faith so pardon me if I am wrong, but what I think he meant was that some people (pagans) thought that saying really long prayers with big words was what was needed... the point is that really god wants a relationship with us, he wants us to confide and share with him and more importantly love him as he loves you. So as wevlog says, talk to him like your friend, with respect but also with confidence and love. Hope this helps to answer your question.

That was the most informative piece of information I have found about praying, thank you so much. I just have a few questions though. I find it really really hard to find peace and quiet, I have tinnitus and if you don't know what that is its just a constant high-pitched noise that I hear 24/7, how do I find my quiet place and communicate with god when I have this? Should I close my eyes when I pray? Do I have to be in any sort of position, or can I simply lay down? Thank you in advanced.
Prayer can be done in any position. Kneeling is typically viewed as the most reverent manner to pray, but that doesn't we can't pray while standing or walking. Sometimes it helps me a lot to take a walk in the park and pray. God is available 24-7, and is always waiting to hear from us.
