  • 0:19 non insulated screwdriver. Not a good idea.

  • Being a electrician is dangerous and not worth it!!

  • Here in Sweden it is pretty good money to work as an electrician. Im just curios what is the monthly wage for a full paid electrician in the states after taxes?

  • The men and *women*, wow that's realistic...

  • Can colour blind people be electricians?

  • @taccognaman I'm afraid not, it can be risky to confuse the color of the wire and can cause serious injury or even worse death.

  • @taccognaman I worked with an old timer who was color blind. We didn't let him make anything up by himself lol.

  • I would have been written up several times for not wearing gloves if I was in this video!

  • spmelectrical.co.uk

  • oh boy you would not be allowed to work like these guys at the Tarsands , there p.p.e,s are mandatory safety before everything else sometimes i find these p.p.e cumbersome in the summer heat and believe me it can hot in northern Alberta in june july and august but these jobs pay so mucht first thing is avoiding any accident causing injury damage or even just a spill one must even have a certificate now if climbing higher than 2 metres on a ladder its called fall arrest training no kidding

  • in reply to Starwars518 well at the Tarsands on a typical camp job one can put away in the bank say on a 3 or 4 or 5 month job more than most people could put away working in the city for 2 or more years in the city you just have a huge pile of expenses i have only worked at camp jobs now in the last 5 years i probably will not even consider taking a job in the city

  • in reply to Mistermanguy yes i suppose one may get shocked doing electrical work in my case mucht more so working at home or when i was young tinkering with electrical gadgets now when i work at the big Tarsand projects it is rare someone would get shocked that would be considered a incident not that everybody reports it if one follows all the mandatory procedures on these jobs it becomes nearly imposible to get a shock doing electrical work and you do not want to be hit with 600volt or4160V

  • is the math involved with being an electrician easy or hard

  • @orgazm89 tricky maths involved , but practice helps

  • @orgazm89 its basic trigonometry

  • im choosing between to be an electrican or a bricklayer. which would use advise me to do ?

  • I've been to college and got on the Electrical Course and Plumbing gota choose between em now..

Judgin by the comments this trade is good, But this course says u do one year full time (level 2 certificate) Then Level 3 part time wid apprenticeship one year then ur an qualified electrian ?!?! Wat am i missing here

I see people on here say apprenticeship last 4 years..

Also Electricians Out there is it Fact that u will be shocked at one point during work?

    Reply back if know

  • Yep. I was doing if for about two months before I got shocked. Was'nt a hard hit though. It didnt grab ahold of me. Once you get hit you will loosen up about it and feel more comfortable around it and trust me..its gonna happen. You can reduce the chance of getting hit with a good pair of insulated gloves though.

  • @MART1EBO1 not necessarily, however in my year of working i've recieved 4 shocks, 2 were through not paying enough attention to what i was doing, the other 2 through testing a welding unit and a UV lamp as they were giving off shocks and i had to be sure that they no longer wern't, it's not so much as a painful feeling though, it's more like pins and needles on a higher scale, still isn't very pleasant though, also my apprenticeship is 4 years long

  • All of you union guys just piss and moan too much. Maybe if you did not take so many coffee breaks you would have more work. Call me a rat or whatever, I WORK ALL YEAR ROUND.

  • I have worked all year round for the last 15 years I took my required coffee breaks and didnt do a ratty thing and made more for doing a better job then u rat bastards

  • Amen buckslyr......I have been in the IBEW for 22 years and other than 1 stint during the first Bush years I have worked steady for the last 16 years without missing a break or lunch and the contractor I work for has prospered as have I. Couldn't even imagine working without my wage and benefit package and having to do every wormy thing to keep my job, Thank god for unions and those who fought for it in the early years. Some just don't get it!!!!

  • @cjw1169 What takes you a year to make we make that in 6 months.

  • this comment just doesn't make any sense.

do you mean you noticed 20 examples of OHSA violations in this particular clip? And this somehow a representation of non-union work practice?

  • that is just silly (and ignorant). Markets drive and determine industry costs, not the union.

  • every tool that is carried in that tool pouch is needed, you can make as much money as you're worth, depending on how much responsability you want to take and how much ability to run work and lead people you have.

  • These electricians are so slow..couldn't make a dime off these hacks. Why do you need 2500 tools in your belt. Wear a nice light pouch..strippers,pliers, flat head, phillips, needle nose, dykes, wire nuts, splice caps, tape. your done! lol

  • a trained electrician huh.. to funny

  • How does one become an electrician, and how much are they paid an hour usually... Im almost done with finishing by 4 year degree.

  • im a first year apprentice and im getting paid 16.50 an hour

  • bull shit

  • serious man, ive worked for 3 companies the first i was making 10, then i got a raise to 12, then i moved to another company that did commercial work, i completed a no frills store here in ontario, then i got on with a contractor who friends with my dad (my dad is an electrical safety authority inspector, ESA) who does residential and industrial and now im making $16.50 an hour (its actually 15.50) but i get a dollar an hour more for vacation pay, i have no reason to lie brother

  • im a second year now tho as of feb.

  • are you industrial or contruction and maintenance?

  • wel i started off in residential, then i moved to commercial, the company im currently with now does residential and industrial. Industrial work is my favorite, we just did work at a wood plant here in northern ontario, we wired 12 kilnes and a boiler room all new at this place and an endless amount of 3 phase 600 volt pumps lol. lot of PLC in this place too, and motor controlls, but i didnt do too much of that, but i did get to wire a transformer up, lots of experience there!

  • i like how none of these "safe" electricians are wearing safety glasses

  • why the hell would an electrician need safety glasses

  • @desiret91: you're obviously not an electrician, nor have you worked around any. you are a fucking retard.

  • guard against sparks, good vision etc.

  • lol....

  • I would be more concerned about the kid on the ladder, wearing trainers & not tied off.

  • I am a trained electrician

  • I'm curious,I'am thinking about going to school to be a electrictian, how much can an electrictian make with five years experience under it's belt?

  • depends on who you work for and if your union or not usually with 5 years 12-20 an hour

  • Thank you for the imformation.
