While Paris Hilton might not be the best singer out there - or the best actress, for that matter - I actually think she did an okay job in this film. Amber Sweet is a spoiled, slutty drug-addict. As far as I know, Paris Hilton is pretty much the same. And her singing voice fits the part - especially during the 'Happiness is not a warm scalpel' in which she really does sound like a spoiled, little brat.

Remember something that seems to have been forgotten. Paris was willing to GAIN WEIGHT for this part without complaint. She suffered through hours of makeup and costuming for it, again without complaint. That's more than a lot of mainstream stars often do. As well, she did a damn good job in this part.

They wanted someone to play a drug-addicted,spoiled,slutty heiress who gets what she wants,whenever she wants and throws a tantrum if she doesn't.  When you think about it,Paris fits the requirements like a glove. And,ridiculous whinings aside,she CAN sing to some extent. Really,there's no one better for this part.

This was the filmmakers justifacation for alowing the talentless waste of human flesh into this wonderfully disturbing and overly entertaining feast for the eyes and ears, this incredible little gem of a movie that needs more reconition for it's raw greatness that is unfortuantly overlooked because the dark content, continuous singing (there isn't a bad song throughout the whole thing, even though Seventeen felt very out of place). I love how Paris's character is essentially her in real life.

@indiaXisXcoolio You realize of course that while they DID sing live on set in order to make it look natural and effective they also had their recorded back track behind them and the recorded track is what is put on the film. It's how musical films work. They technically don't lip sync but none of what you hear in the film is 100% organically their voice from that particular day on set.
