  • 13 years old? outstanding

  • pretty remarkable

  • He goes to my school, not kidding! He is in my gym class lol and he went to the white house 2 days ago for the science fair.

  • This concept is not optimal, there is phenomenon called heliotropism. Trees are static, but some small plants, like the young sunflower, follow the sun during the day and unwind at the night, so the leafs are always at an optimal angle to the sun. The concept of this young boy only involves that more panels have optimal angle to the sun, than simple static arrayed panels.

  • It contains lots of hype and buzz concepts, copying nature, Fibonacci, but the fact is a solar panel works best when they have maximum surface area facing the sun, all these other concepts are just obfuscating the main point, for a solar panel at a given latitude there is an optimum static angle which maximises output, and this tree design isn't optimal

  • @iWantAGoodName Here you prove the statement Adrian made about the internet not being a substitute for peer review.

  • I love how he laughs off his fumbles on his words!!!

  • Leonardo grew up with a North African education under the Moors and later travelled extensively around the Mediterranean coast. He would have met with many merchants and learned of their systems of doing arithmetic. He soon realised the many advantages of the "Hindu-Arabic" system over all the others.

  • Wow ! génius...Thanks

Thank you to Fibonacci as a big thank you to Algeria where Fibonacci had studied mathematics

    ... Thanks

  • If you find this interesting, you may find interesting my articles relating to Aidan's idea and other issues to do with solar power, fractal optical antennas and efficient light gathering in plants. Google for "trees fractals and solar power".

  • Solar trees were already built years ago, and the concept of a solar forest is theme of endless youtube videos. Nothing new.

  • Nothing new. This idea was realized 10 years ago in germany. You can see here:

Just check google pictures for "Gleisdorf Solarbaum"

  • @dero1986qw u r not right, the 'gleisdorf solarbaum' and other solar trees use very common panel arrangements, not the fibonacci sequences, so they're not as effective..

  • just another boring idiot crap. nothing new>!

179 people seem to be some kind of stupid.

  • @pieflonzo you jealous bas*ard

  • @IMintheworld im not jeaulous. without the fibonacci sequence he would be nothing. also he did not recognize, that solar panels are deep medieval. anyhow, this guy is just an advertisemt figure for a proud patriotic ... nation^^. next time i just tolerate those faked freaks, i swear.

  • Great for you kid!! Keep up the good job! it looks like you are going to change the world :)

  • awsome!!!

  • Jimmy Neutron ?!?!

  • Look what can happen with an interest in science, energy and the environemt

  • Israelis invented it 3 years ago!

  • smart kid. well done :)

  • i am pretty sure Vihart already covered all of this on her channel WAYY before this kid's parents ;)

  • the thing is how this boy, get the idea to apply the Fibonacci formula, damn interesting and is not mad to create a solar tree it is just common sense, well is the less common

  • good keep going

  • Awesome! Good for him! (just ignore the haters btw...they are everywhere and will attack anyone and everyone cause I guess they have nothing better to do) I love the idea of using the solar power with functional art too! Great idea!

  • When we see children with ideas! dun said he is geek or mad or dork! u might hinder himself/herself from building a better future

  • @Laxcon Your statements make no sense.

  • @scott98390 in wat way! inventor! your statement sounds doubtful! and gonna criticize soon enough

  • Power to the people.People to the power. People are the power. Aidan is an excellent example for this formula!

  • This design merely spreads out the light gathering ability to various random angles, rather than focusing it all at the same angle/time of day on a fixed planar array. Some of the 'leaves' are going to always be aiming toward the sun at some point in time, but it's not as efficient as a steerable planar array that follows the sun's path via timer motors. His design, while creative, is inefficient because of the random angles of the individual solar cells.

  • @basspig

Probably, but what's more than likely to be affordable by the common household?

  • @basspig

Maybe, maybe not, moving panels takes energy.

Regardless, what's more than likely affordable to the common household?

A properly implemented design will increase energy per square foot of needed horizontal space and could potentially far out-perform current solar panel designs at a fraction of the cost.

I think this has tremendous potential to become a common household item, and if that ever happens, that company will grow like wildfire on dry pine trees.

  • The kid should attempt to get contracts to supplement the power consumption of U.S. military bases both here and overseas.

Some C.O.'s have already attempted to find unique ways of cutting energy costs, this kid could design a military-grade portable version of this solar panel tree and sell them to the military for field operations and FOBs. The savings in fuel alone will make it offer the military can't refuse.

No dudo nada. Y no me he querido mofar de nadie.

  • wow!

  • mis respetos amigo

  • The optimal output power of a solar panel is achieved with light shining in perpendicular to the panel. There is nothing to research anymore. ... And in the end, you rate a solar-panel from an economic point of view: You need it to "produce" cheaper electric power than any other source otherwise nobody will use it. His idea for the arrangement of solar-panels might look nice and be useful in northern countries but is certainly not economical and useful at all under standard light conditions....

  • Why are trees trees? Why are they efficient at doing what they do? Do solar panels collect more energy per sq inch as a flat panel or would it be better to have a million little solar panels placed in patterns like leaves on a tree? Would it be better if the tiny solar panels are shaped like leaves? No offense to the little guy, but I've already seen ideas like this and they aren't better. His calculations are incorrect. The output was wrong, back to the drawing board. Keep up the good work

  • that dude is hot.

  • That's great idea!! We shoud copy nature in every way!! Congratulations Aidan!!

  • Lets see who gets this: "My father was an exceptional man..."

  • Watch out Sheldon Cooper!!!

  • amazing!! he is a real genius! He research is so simple and perfect

  • A 13 years old kidd that understands the Fibonacci pattern!!!!

  • he seems nervous...great idea though.

  • secooooo te pasates Aidan!!!

  • Keep up the great work and continue to inspire us to achieve our dreams!

    Don Lewis , musician

  • This kid is a genius. How does one raise children with such a brilliant and active mind?

  • @NYsalsa101 teach scientific reasoning and not religious beliefs

  • @justicierofinal Wrong. Teach children to think for themselves, not what to think. I teach my children BOTH science and religion.

  • @Deke101 In which religion of all?

  • @justicierofinal Well, I am a Christian, but I teach my children about whatever they want to learn about. I have read to them from Hindu texts, Budhist, Shinto, and Taoist writings. Islam. I have even shown them voodoo and witchcraft. I have found that many Christians speak ill of other things with no real knowledge of what they speak. God gave us a mind to use, not follow blindly whatever someone tells us.

  • @Deke101 Already know Darwin's theory? What do you think about dinosaur fossils? What if the Hindus are the ones who are right? Or the Muslims? Maybe the ancient Romans and Greeks? Or the Aborigines who believe in the juju of the mountain in Central Africa? it would be best not to pollute your mind with olds mythologies, because just get confused.

  • @justicierofinal Dinosaur fossils? I think they are fascinating. Teaching children ONE thing is teaching them WHAT to think. Teaching opposing views does not pollute one's mind, but expands it. It also teaches respect for the viewpoints of others. Perhaps you could try it.

  • @Deke101 How to fit the fossils of dinosaurs in your concept of the origin of life? science and religion are in contradiction, one of the two is wrong, don't you think?

  • @justicierofinal MY concept of the origin of life is we simply don't know. My relationship with God and my love of science are not mutually exclusive. I don't think any less of someone because they don't believe in God. That is the beauty of it. It allows for a rational belief OR disbelief.

  • @Deke101 was a believer, until two years ago I had my doubts as how With whom do cain married?, what God was thinking when he created the devil?, where was when the serpent convinced Eve? Noe how do the animals together? (especially kangaroos) Why does it test? supposed to know everything How did different races of a single partner? What if the Muslims are right? Or the Hindus? Or the Jews? Or the Tibetans? later I saw ZEITGEIST and know the truth and do not be fooled, I use google translator

  • @justicierofinal If you had questions and never got them answered, perhaps your faith was not strong to begin with. All of these questions have answers, but NOT in this comment section. Zeitgeist? Seriously? Wow. That is most unfortunate. There is so much wrong with that movie, it was debunked as soon as it came out.

  • @Deke101 god answered you? What was your question? Zeitgeist refuted how? By whom?

  • @justicierofinal I did not say God answered me. I asked questions about scripture. I asked scholars, Rabbis, and priests. Then I studied the scriptures, ancient history and Greek and Hebrew. Zeitgeist has been refuted by many people. Not only that, but Zeitgeist put forth problems that had already been answered many years before.

  • @Deke101 well then ask her something with all your faith, keep it real and pure faith, ask what you want and tell me their answer PLEASE, about Zeitgeist tell me, what things were already known for a long time?

  • @justicierofinal I will send you some info, but I will send it in a PM..This comment section is too restrictive.

  • @Deke101 ok fine, see you

  • @NYsalsa101 Avoiding MTV and ALL those idiotic reality shows that infest TV today and of course crappy fast food that kill your brain cells.

  • @NYsalsa101 that's bullshit, just watch the latest video by Vihart, it was known long ago that plants arange their leafs in a spiral way, with seperating angle 360-360/fi, where fi is the golden ratio.

  • @NYsalsa101 get them away of television, facebook, internet and videogames as much as possible. Show them the beauty to read, to question, to seek for answears by themselves. I think that would do pretty much

  • @NYsalsa101

perhaps no life or just mentally "retarded" in the right way - OR perhaps just a smart guy with a huge interest in physics ^^

  • Great ideas. Usually the best inventions "steal" from nature. This is another example.
