  • Awesome Thank you :)

  • Time to use this song for our boys on the front line!

  • im wondering, where is that choir from, cos im from pentwynmawr( southwales) and i've not heared something as soothing as this :) hope they find their fame

  • Sorry to disappoint.....Not Simon Weston

I do agree with your comment on him though.

  • If I'm not mistaken, behind Rolf's shoulder is Simon Weston, a survivor of the Faulklands whose behaviour since is an example to us all of what valour is.

  • Sorry to disappoint......Not Simon Weston.

Agree with you comments on Simon though.

  • I loved this song as a young boy and nothing has changed

  • I personally love this song. I grew up with Rolf Harris music, and this is the version I love and cherish.... I also noticed that one person has massiv a\lag on their computer and accidentally pressed the dislike button...I hope they get that fixed :P

  • is it just me who sees the whole MASSIVE GAY JOKE in this. if so then i am sorry.

  • Yes !!! To everyone posting , this guy (Rlof) has pleased more generations right across the board than anyone ...... He is the Australian Pink Floyd !!!

  • My wife's little brother loved this song. Sadly he was killed and this now brings tears to our eyes when we hear it.

  • Rolf you are Australia's greatest export. Good onya MATE.

  • I saw Rolf at a comedy show last december, out of all the comedians and musicians who played, Rolf got a huge reception and when he sang this it was very moving. Eighty years old and going strong.

  • Rolf's Aunty could never listen to the song. His Dad and his Uncle joined the Australian Infantry in the Great War. His Dad came back. His Uncle didn't. There was a TV programme (Who do you think you are? I think) where Rolf visits his Uncle's grave and sheds tears. He then realises why his Aunty could never hanle listening to the song. Really moving.

  • absolutely love this anthem, reminds me of my uncle john who passed away in 2008,an absolute legend who seems to sum up this song!!!

  • This is musical, Entertaining and just wonderful. Rolf is great.

  • This is weird. Not the song. The song is great. But I know two brothers. Jack and Joe and their last name is Leahy, pronounced Lay. I was dating Jack when I listened to it and noticed the similarity. It would have been even weirder if in the song it said they were brothers.

  • Love this song. My earliest memory is my mum singing it to me when I was a little kid. It is actually about the American civil war when friends ended up fighting on different sides. That is why he says "out of the ranks so blue" as he was fighting for the Union.

  • I don't know why this is seen as a kind of novelty song. I loved this as a kid, and this new recording of it is even more emotional. Rolf Harris, a truly unique entertainer and man of many talents. Long may he continue to entertain.

  • I am an only twin

  • im ex aussie army and it gives me goose bumps

  • i remember listening to my dad singing this on our road trips. always made me tear up.

  • FOR ALL ARE BOYS WHO HAVE FOUGHT IN ANY WAR

  • my mom loved this song when she wos a little girl now i now when she said listion and u will cry to it as well and i did

  • Without war how would we know peace

  • @Pogwarts97 Why do we need to know peace? Why can't it just be? Why can't it just be the backbone of normality in our lives to which there is no contrast?

  • this song makes the heart ache ,and the tears flow, Rolf Harris sings this sad song so well. If only we could have a perfect world , no wars and only peace.

  • abouslty wonderful so emotional

  • This song seriously makes the eyes well up!

  • true music. much better than modern crap kids listen to these days. this song acctually means stuff. about being their for each other and life long friends not having sex and stuff.

  • So Much Epicness

  • Had a wonderful teacher in the 5th form at school who played this to our class. Still brings a tear to my eye.

  • This was one of our favourites in Sussex after the cricket match when we'd been on the singing beer. My nephew was over once and happily joined in. When I expressed surprise that he knew the lyrics, he explained his grandpa, my Dad, had sung it to him when he was young. So a song to touch three generations of my family resonates strongly with me. This one's a nice version. Thanks for posting.

  • Makes me shed a tear!

  • i would much prefer i different singer for this, i love rolf and he seems like a grand bloke, but ive heard a cover of this song with a female voice and it sounded so much better, rolf just sounda far too camp for this song.

  • Makes me cry everytime. I've met Rolf and what a nice genuine guy he is. Heads up to the choir too.

  • This song shall forever have a place in my heart. My Grandmother would sing it to me when I was a kid, It was horribly out of tune, but I still loved it when she sung it to me. I'm 20 now and sing it to my 3yo sisters, and I plan in singing it to my kins when I have them as well. A song such as this should be remembered for all time.

  • Ok, sitting here with tears rolling down my face. I sang this as a kid and didn't understand the lyrics properly. Beautiful!

  • Brilliant song....brilliant story...and very moving, for so many reasons I cant find words to say.

  • How strange to hear a song about the US Civil War, aka War of Northern Aggression, sang with an Oz accent. This is been done over the years by many people. I like the bluegrass versions better. That is not to say that Mr. Harris isn't good, but he it just doesn't have the feeling that the other versions.

  • Im 30 now an i will always remember my dad singin this to me, it still fills me emotion to this day, an now my mrs is pregnant im gonna continue it and sing it to my son too..what a great song and so poignant...love it..!

  • A good emotive song, it may have a war theme but the real structure of the song is that no matter how bad things get or whatever crisis is bestowed upon you there is someone watching out for you and the good deeds you do today will be repaid tenfold in the years to come as the caring human compassionate nature within ourselves, will in the end, when you need them most; outweigh anything before it. Well done Rolf for singing the true emotion in the words that makes our soles listen.

  • ex RMP and Legionaire. Makes me cry.. To all who have lost loved ones in Afghan & Iraq. RIP. X

  • My dad used to sing this gently to me when I was a little girl. I'm 25 now and still remember snuggling into his chest as he sang.

This song gives me goosebumps. I love it so much.

  • what a wonderful song............this brings a lump to my throat x

  • 27,477 views speaks for itself.

  • Still brings a tear to my eyes...from what the songs about.

  • There are so many disrespectful people posting on here it makes me wonder what these guys gave their lives for. No matter where they was from

What a sad world we ive in.

  • Pure Class!!!!!!!

  • Do you think dubyamoey slipped through the net when "care in the community" was instigated.

Alternatively, looking at his profile, he is just a retarded attention seeker badly in need of a lead injection behind the left ear!!!!

  • @yorkie6687 excuse me?I love this song and every time i hear this i feel sad.

I wasn't dissing it, i was commenting on how emotive it is.

    Dont call me a Cunt

  • every fooking time. Why is that?

    always reminds me of trainspotting

  • This is a beautiful song, it makes me cry, just overwhelms me. Well done Rolf but also that Theodore person (Y) x

  • THANK YOU FOR BEING A PATRIOT SIR!!!

  • Me too, everytime.

  • Who wrote this song? Did Rolf do a cover of an older classic? Just curious.... it's a wonderful song and it really packs an emotional punch.

  • On Wikipedia is says : "Two Little Boys" is a song written by American composer Theodore Morse and lyricist Edward Madden. It was written in 1902 and became a popular music hall song of the time, made popular by Harry Lauder. It describes the story of two boys who grow up to fight in the American Civil War. In 1969 it became a surprise No. 1 top selling single for entertainer Rolf Harris in the United Kingdom.

    Hope this helps.

    Todd.

  • Thanks for that Todd. Much appreciated.

  • You're welcome..

  • @ToddClassical

    Fantastic song, beautiful thanks man

  • im sorry my mate but your wrong its an english officers mess song from the 1800's and then went over the atlantic, sorry bud!

  • TOP MAN!!!

  • @ToddClassical and apprantly he hated it when it was recited to him over the phone but didn't have the heart to tell the guy (i can't remember the other man's name)

  • @ToddClassical

When I was a little girl, growing up in VA, this was done by a female, wish I could remember who, but 40+ years later, I will never forget how it touched me. I lived right in the middle of history and this song spoke to the soul of those familiar with the history of the south. If you know who the woman was who recorded it, I'd love to find out, her version was truly haunting.

  • @MuddrGoose1 I will keep my eyes open for that and if I find out, I will let you know..

  • @ToddClassical Thank you, I'd really appreciate it.

  • @MuddrGoose1 i remember the same song, can't find it anywhere though! i seem to recall it being done by the seekers, but i can't find any record of it so i am probably wrong

  • @ToddClassical on UK tv a programme called MY FAMILY AT WAR, ROLF found out that his DAD & his UNCLE were in the same place in FRANCE in WWI, his DAD survived but his UNCLE died afew hundred yards from were he thought .because of this he can never sing the song without remmbering is uncle & dad

  • @LiberaGemma on a TV prog rolf talks about how his dad and uncle where in the horse regements in WWI when his uncle was shot and his dad took him back to the trenches but he died before he could get to the hospital trench and now "every time I sing two little boys it will always remind me of the events of it all"

  • @LiberaGemma fantastic song i remember it from when I was a lad.. bring a tear to a glass eye :)

  • The principle message behind this song and it's lyrics still stand strong today, especially with so many of people's loved ones and friends out on the front line.... Not to mention the belief of being there for each other. Still makes me sob, some 40 years after it was released!

  • The ultimate rescue song ~ yes makes us all cry and maybe wonder if we would be the rescued or the rescuer ~ I think we all need a life long rescuer , loyal and true .. if we can't have that can we that for some-one else ? Thanks Rolf and choir very poignant !

  • love it, love it all these years later.

being a late parent, my son who is 3 and a half years old loves this song too and sings along with his old dad as best he can........ there's always a tear or three in my eye as he does.

  • Im 42, 6' 5" tall and 350 pound ex-bouncer and it makes me ball like a baby.. a true classic

  • @careypeak23 makes me cry like a baby too, when ever i hear it with out fail, even if i just think about this song i start welling up

  • @careypeak23 Glad to know it's not just me this song brings to tears, not only the songs message but it was the first record my mum bought me and my autistic brother. Brings back such wonderful memories

  • @careypeak23 I am an ex-N.I. Vet, and

weeping like a women as i write this, i have mates out in the "Sand Pit" and i just hope they all come home safe, god i Fucking HATE this Government!

  • A true classic. It'll live forever

  • its when the trumpet starts playing puts a lump in my throat and my eyes fill up great song very emotional well done rolf and the choir

  • for a twaty non-careing un-inteligable teenager, this song actualy has a incredibly strong and powerfull meaning when you liten to the lyris properly.

  • I love this song. It makes me bawl like a baby. Rolf Harris rules.

  • For you Marc. R.I.P

  • Can't watch this without crying...beautiful song

  • Me too. Such a strange thing, makes me cry like a kid. Love this song.

  • @biggles132 You can... It's just really, REALLY difficult.

Don't think less off me for not crying. It's just that I don't want to explain these well needed tears to my family.

  • absolutely ace

  • This song always gets me at 1:48. Such a beautiful song.

  • Gets me there too :(.....

  • britains favorite aussie....and that's all i gotta say!!!

  • Without a doubt!

And then Dame Edna : )

  • as good if not better then when i 1st heard it as a child at Leicester Demontfort hall just before it was released as a single i believe

  • hi were singing this at school for its 40th birthday

  • Well... makes me cry.. simple as !

  • Rofl Harris is god. No joke, he actually is. In the name of the Father, son, holy Ghost and Rolf Harris.

  • while i do love this song (it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end),i think a better anthem for rememberance day would be 'green fields of france' by the furey's. it captures the utter lunacy of war, and the unheard of carnage of the first world war.

  • It's actually called "No Man's Land" by Eric Bogle

  • this should really become an anthem for Rememberance day

  • I am a 33 year old twin.. My brother and I used to sing this when we were very young. Its just brought a tear to my eye. Brilliant song

  • This always sends a shiver down my spine when I hear it too..

    Todd.

  • @judoplayer1976 ... reminds me of my friend murdered by IRA terrorists, i was a soldier and was not there to save him. this song always makes me fell sad.

  • @judoplayer1976 No1 likes a gay twin.

  • Fantastic song !!!

  • Rolf Harris is a born entertainer. One of the likes we'll never see again. I'm 21 years old and I still think this song is cool. We love you Rolf.

  • @Lst123321 Sorry hit the wrong one meant to hit thumbs up Classic song

  • @lapalad That's okay. Even a year after having first seen it, It's still an absolutley amazing song.

  • fantastic rolf is a living legend

  • scrub1987 i know what you mean ive done 22 year for queen and country, and i watch the programe on tv about rolf about his dad in the war

  • Rolf Harris and a Welsh Choir. doesn't get any better than this.

  • genius in every way

  • I knew this song as a child and never really understood it and now i am a bit older it makes complete sense and the youths of today should think themselves lucky as do i that we did not have to see the scenes the men who fought for the country did. English and Proud

  • You mean Britain! Scots,Welsh and Irish fought for our freedom and not forgetting the commonwealth!

  • 5/5 :)
