I'm not a scientist, but I doubt that that's true. But it's probably not a good idea to pluck his feathers anyway; it might upset his sense of balance...and certainly would affect his chances with the ladies.

yeah, some bird feathers (especially newly grown ones) still have a blood supply in them so plucking such a large feather from a large bird could result in some bleeding, i doubt it would kill it though.
