nice review.. But i think that sog should make the coating much more high quality... i have the powerlock for lust a week and has already lost a lot.. its grey now and not black.
@hoovco lol, this perticuler model is geared more towards military based needs, but i get what your saying,i wouldnt say its"worthless crap" but hey,to each his own.
these things are customizable, thats what i like about them, you can have whatever tools you want on there, i cant wait to get one, trying to decide between powerlock or powerassist
As a person who has worked in EOD and been an instructor since 1981, I really like the design of this tool. I have used Leatherman, Gerber and Winchester multi-tools. Of the three the Winchester was made very poorly and I have it to someone else to throw in their glove compartment. The Winchester came with a socket set, but again nothing was well made. I am anxious to try this tool at an explosives range. Should really simplify the amount of equipment and eliminate my tool belt.
Maybe it's just me, but why buy a product specifically designed for EOD, if you don't do EOD... I understand you can swap tools around, but even so, you still have the crimper and CSPE stripper which is no use. Also, why the need for a quick release sheath? I personally have the leather sheath that comes with it and keep it on my stable belt, but if I want to say destroy a birdge or do explosive entry, having my tool avalible in a second isn't going to make any difference. Just my 2p
@urkingod SOG's powerlock/power assist's best feature is the compound leverage pliers. Your survival has much less to do with which multi tool you pick, but more of your knowledge and experiences you have in dealing with crisis. I would suggest taking first aide course, and classes that peaks your interest. Hint: anything is a tool if you know how to use it.
@dontmesswithnature No actually this one is the B67 mode I believe, but the B66 has the v-cutter and some other stuff. Usually B66 is better than the B67 for regular EDC tasks.
Appreciate the vid! Just got a deal on this tool and wasn't sure how I'd like the C4 spike... but I saw on their website that you can replace it with some pretty cool components if you want. I'm pumped! Thanks again!
This tool has a perfect balance of the things I use the most. Strong needle nosed pliers with wire cutters, easily accessible knives and just the right amount of the most useful tools.
Nice vid. I have a Leatherman Wave and I'm liking the looks and the gears for the torque of this one. I am considering this one, which one do you prefer?
@ConditionRedDawn This country is the most diverse country in the world! Therefore has a mixture of various, numerous languages. Also SOG doesn't cater to just one country. Your an idiot along with the others that gave you a thumbs up.
Does anybody use this in their EDC? I have on and I'm trying to incorporate it, but it's just too bulky.

Multi tool wise I think SOG blows Leatherman away.

I thought that the power assist had a v-cutter
dontmesswithnature 1 year ago
@ dontmesswithnature
I think the other models do, this one is EOD, so it has a few specialty tools
GearBuyersGuide 1 year ago
@GearBuyersGuide The Powerassist EOD comes in 2 versions: one has the v-cutter and the other does not.

@spudnutsncoffee My mistake....The only the PowerLOCK eod comes with the optional v-cutter. Sorry for the misinformation.
